One of the big euro teams in bound to suffer unexpectedly, I wanna tip Ivory Coast for a good tournament, they got a decent squad that can surprise. I would take both Diomande’s from there for our lineup lads.
My favorite world cup player of all times is still Rashidi Yekeni. How that Nigeria team played in 94 was so good. I still do not believe his birth record. He was probably 40 at the 98 cup or older

28th May 2026 at 8:08 pm #247283Lol, need to get hold of an actual Wallchart away from the digital world just to feel a Teenager all over again haha. USA 94: What a World Cup.
Portugal do look a Prospect with many familiar names and Ronnie playing at the age of 40/41. Imagine if they could meet Spain somewhere down the line.
Personal Preference outside England would be Argentina or Brazil

28th May 2026 at 8:09 pm #247284Yekeni sounds vaguely familiar. I liked that Nigera team back then. The guy who then signed for Everton. I remember Argentina playing Nigeria and that’s when all the Maradona stuff kicked off for testing positive.

28th May 2026 at 8:56 pm #247285That was Daniel Amokachi, I actually wished we signed him back then, he was a talent albeit a handful. Infamous for subbing himself on in Everton home game and scoring the winner! Jay Jay Okacha was also in that 1994 squad, one of my favorite ballers of all time! He was a joy to watch, got every football fan behind him.

28th May 2026 at 9:27 pm #247287Like I did watch a game or two at the 90 world cup, Maradona especially but the first world cup I watched was the 94 one.
13 years old with nothing to do over the summer and I turn on the tv and it 8 hours of football every day and during the day time, so grandpa or who ever could not watch the news instead.
My schedule that summer was only interrupted by football practice, basketball practice and handball practice. I think I scored 14 goals in about 30 games that summer, as a central defender or midfielder.
The strange thing is that I think football could do with some of my handball training, cause those coaches explained tactics, formations way better than any football coach I have ever had. How to overload a certain position and then just make a block basically to get the goal.
You can compare the handball game to a 7 side football game somehow. Except the former is much more physical and more of a contact sport. It does not take the same skill but you have to know your tactics.
The difference is that at 11-13 I was practicing transition phases in handball, while our football coach could barely teach us how to counter as a team in football. I actually think football can learn from handball in that sense. There is no difference between training these transitions in football from a early age than handball.
We just had to make one, two, three, four, five passes, with a block there or at the three count, and another pass and suddenly we were through.
I favored football in the long run even though I was pretty much destined for the national team in handball at a young age, life happened but during my time training football I found that experience as a handballer really good.
Cause we had to learn the difference between playing a flat 6 as a defense, to a 5-1 defense with one dude interfering with play or a 4-2 defense with two blokes blocking the channels. Or a 3-3 defense with everyone man marking basically. Those system have a lot in common with a 7side in football. ItΒ΄s just theory in tight spaces. How to open up a pass lane with a simple block for example. Giroud was for example a master of creating space with this kind of block I am talking about, both for himself and others.
BTW the only football I am enjoying right now is in the lower divisions of Spain or Costa del Sol, with Club Deportivo Torrevieja playing a final against Benidorm for a promotion, then Elche surviving the La Liga and another club doing well in their league. The most famous wonderkid from here is Xavi Simons, he came up with CD Thader.
The last time I went to game before that is in Ischia in Italy with some local youth side there, u14 I think. Lovely stadium there under SDD Ischia Calcio. They have one of the best pizzas ever next door. Then before that it was actually the u21 Euros in Denmark last time. It was really funny being the only one watching a game at the u21 Euros in Arhus. BTW if you go on holiday to anywhere, visit the local football clubs and buy a jersey. I would much rather have a SD Torrevieja jersey than a Liverpool one. I know which club needs the money.

28th May 2026 at 11:24 pm #247297I liked watching Cameroon Bingo of the 1990 squad. Silky, but often reckless in their tackling lol π 1990 was just kind of Romantic with the Nation coming together and one of the hottest of Summers.
Yeah, I think in 94, bit like Japan 2002, you’d get games scheduled on TV 3 Times a day. It was just Ace during the Summer and the School Holidays. Loved USA 94, lots of good players back then to watch and aspire to.

29th May 2026 at 12:31 am #247306I donΒ΄t think the 1990 world cup was broadcasted in Iceland, I think we were watching re-runs of games back then. Like we did not get live games from the Premier League either back then, my elders used to watch a video tape sent from England to be broadcasted a couple of days after the match.

29th May 2026 at 6:58 am #247328Anyone with suggestions for “ones to watch”? Young players that are ready to rise to the top.
You all probably know these so no great surprises.
Nico Paz – Argentina. Plays as a no 10. Very good season at Como, think he topped the g/a combined chart. Looks like Real with exercise their buy back on him
GΓΌler – Turkey. Also plays a no 10. Already at Real.
Yildiz – Turkey. Plays LW but tipped to end up playing as a no 10. Linked with Real. How many no 10s do they want?!
Yan Diomande- Ivory Coast. You know about him.
Toure – Ivory Coast. plays LW.Seen a few links to us after having a good season at Hoffenheim with 5 goals and 12 assists in 33ish games.
Vuskovic – Croatia. Spurs CB who I think had a good loan at Hamburg and we have had some links to.
Gilberto Mora – Mexico. 17 year old no 10. Maybe too early for him but with Mexico and their home fans behind him maybe a star will emerge this summer?

1st June 2026 at 5:29 pm #247810Some of the training stadiums using the same grass as on the actual playing stadiums have utterly failed. The grass is dead somehow, team Senegal just posted a viral video of their training ground and the ball does not bounce on the pitch.
3ps itΒ΄s both DiomandeΒ΄s actually. They got another one in defense who is a potential beast!

1st June 2026 at 6:13 pm #247832Yes I know Bingo, from Sporting. Very strong athletic defender but question marks over his consistency. Would make for an almost identical Konate replacement!
We have been linked with him before but I think Palace were closest when we chased Guehi last summer.

1st June 2026 at 9:19 pm #247850Seen the goal on Shorts Video and I am real happy for Isak just for him as a Football. Sure I rant on at times about 120 million blah blah blah in the heat of the moment and in conversation in criticism, but boy the guy to me in all honesty has appeared frail/fragile since he joined us and low in confidence and that is not what a Liverpool Player should be.
Enjoy mate and find your way in scoring more goals π
