Ronnie’s still good to have. I’m not sure whether he’s fully exhausted all his mainstream opportunities, but selling himself to Becks (if that’s true), really stoops to a low and I thought he would steer himself away from that.

Don’t know about ever, Nine 😁. I can think of many worse ones but it was a poor decision. Thing is, had he not handballed it, Bruno most likely makes it through to score after the meg but the rules clearly state that doesn’t matter and a supporting arm can’t be adjudged to have handled the ball. The fact it was VAR which gave it makes it worse too.

I completely understand why VAR make these decisions. First you analyse in slow mo, which makes everything look worse. Second the ball clearly hit his hand and significantly diverted the ball when as Ed says, it was going to go through to a very good opportunity and again that makes it look more “unfair” to the attacking team.
Just to be clear, I’m not agreeing with this, just explaining the climate these decisions get made in which gets lost from the reality of it all on the actual pitch. Don’t forget – looking at a monitor in a closed room inevitability divorces you from the reality of the game because you’re only focused on looking for signs of an offence rather than the big picture. It’s like a form of tunnel vision.
And then few refs seem to want to go against VAR. So we are where we are with it.

Ed, if not the worst decision ever it was up there with the worst decisions ever the guy was falling backwards where he put his arm/hand was a natural reaction to help cushion his fall and he had no idea where the ball was.
There were circa nine people in that VAR studio and they come up with that decision ridiculous. The handball rule in the penalty area needs looking at and revising imho.

Handball should only be given if it’s deliberate and 9 out of 10 times it’s easy enough to judge if intentional or not. How can players be expected to keep their arms by their side or behind their backs in the course of physical action. Your arms are the 2nd longest part of your anatomy and they going to obviously move around all the time. It’s the manner they were created.

Just back from holiday and watching Holland v Qatar. Never heard such a nonsense commentary. Its Qatar the Dutch are playing. Just an attempt to big up the overpaid players in the EPL etc.
Well it took Clive Tyldesley half an hour to mention Manchester United. And that in a game with no Utd players.
Qatar are barely League 1 standard , playing an EFL side in the equivalent of the 3rd round of the Cup._____________________________

Little bit of correlation I see re England and my own team Liverpool with the names Phil Foden and Henderson. I don’t often see Henderson go into the heart of the attack or I don’t see him into the heart of defense. It’s as if he hovers in just one part of the pitch or somewhere less effective.
Foden is what we need and my thought was in Harvey Elliot to become that guy, but he needs time and he needs to be more aggressive and play with courage. Hendo exhibited more box to box when we won the Title; that was probably him at his best.

Not sure what game Ashley Williams in the studio’s been watching, but how can he feel confident about Wales other than cancelling out England? Credit to them don’t get me wrong, but we’re in hope for them to try and nick a goal against the run of play once England have exhausted everything from their locker.
