Got to keep winning lads, have too. United a tricky trip to Newcastle and Chelsea at Villa.
Good record at Molineux as well having only lost one in the 11 Premier Leagues played here.
Wolves have dug their heels in too recently and getting a draw against Arsenal at home and beat Villa.
Who will start?
Ali, Frimpong, Konate, VVD, Robbo, Grav, Mac, Szobo, Gakpo, Ekitike and Mo is my guess. A good game to give Kerkez a break and come on later to good effect. Same scenario Frimpong/Gomez.
Always generally close games including the reverse fixture over Xmas in the narrow 2-1 home win (Wolves absolutely should have got a point from this game).
Wolves 1 Liverpool 2

2nd March 2026 at 1:18 pm #240519Robbo will start against Galatasaray I think, he has been a starter there more often than not, 5 games started, 3 on the bench and he has clocked up more minutes than Kerkez. Kerkez started though against Galatasaray in our last fixture against them. That was a makeshift team though Szoboszlai starting at right back with both Frimpong and Bradley on the bench. Alison getting injured.
I think Kerkez will start but otherwise the lineup you predict is probably correct. It´s actually the perfect game to give Rio a start though, if you can´t trust him against the bottom of the league then when can you trust him to start.
I know I´ve been one of Gakpo´s biggest critics this season but I also know the lad is way overworked by now, he has to have the most minutes of all our forwards. He could use a break…

2nd March 2026 at 2:19 pm #240524Sean, just having that slight doubt mate. This is why I paid attention to the match last Friday. Villa didn’t take their chances early doors of the game and ultimately as time dragged, they paid the price.
Score first and really grip possession and threat, and we’ll be fine.
Konate and Van Dijk need to be on it like they were at Forest.

2nd March 2026 at 3:44 pm #240525Nil, the league is over 38 games, things have a tendency to balance out at the end somehow, I find it a very dark reality that we can only get 78 points this season, it´s such a drop off but our rivals for the 3rd spot can only get 81 points. We have played way more games than Aston Villa and United this season I think, I read something about 10 more games or something like that but I did not fact check it. It´s clutch season and that´s where I like the lads to be, they need to win every game until the end of the season one game at a time. It´s been done before and they have the know how to do it. I´ve criticized Van Dijk for example but what a return since then, not that my criticism had anything to do with it but you remember me stating that a angry Van Dijk equals a goal.
Konate has also been our best defensive player since his father passed, I have to say so, he has not made one defensive mistake since then. We don´t know if that was a sudden passing or not and if not you can forgive him for the early mistakes in the season very easily, his mind was on other stuff.
We are also gonna have Isak for those clutch games against United, Villa and Chelsea. The only thing that lad has to do is put the ball in the net in the games available to him and he will end the season as a hero. Possible with one or two trophies…
Cause I think we can get past Galatasaray, our lineup against them was not ideal with Szoboszlai playing as a right back for most of the game, one of his earliest games there. Alison got injured as well and that caused distress along the backline. It was a fairly even game though but over two fixtures we should win and if we start performing we can get the results needed against Atletico Madrid or Spurs. I would prefer Spurs but only because I doubt Isak will be fit by then.
Isak is a clutch player that will win us finals! I´m certain of it, he just needs to play a final and he will win it or be carried out on stretchers with a broken leg.

2nd March 2026 at 5:55 pm #240529Bingo, that’s interesting on pulled up re Points total. I thought of 24 wins off the top of my head, which is exactly 78 points! That would be 10 wins on the bounce haha. I do hope the real bare minimum for us is 20-21 wins and I hope the top 2 stifle.
It would look a bit fudged, but it would make me feel a little better, but the whole intent really is for us to nail Top 4 and close the Gap as much as we can considering our season.
Cheers

2nd March 2026 at 6:47 pm #240530Weirdly enough, of the 2 Wolves games this week, tomorrow nights game is likely less of a priority for Wolves than Fridays game.
They’re going down regardless but could go into the next round of the FA Cup.
Ourselves on the other hand, tomorrow’s night is more important.I can see the same team as Saturday being put out. Maybe just 1 or 2 changes.

2nd March 2026 at 8:38 pm #240533Let’s keep the winning momentum going against this tough away opponent. Got to tighten up in defence and no sloppy mistakes or self-sabotage.
Now let’s do it.
Alisson
Frimpong Konaté Van Dijk Kerkez
Gravenberch Mac Allister
Salah Szoboszlai Gakpo
Ekitike_____________________________

2nd March 2026 at 9:37 pm #240535Indeed Song.
Frimpong I think really is a vital piece to our overall Dynamic here. Not only for stabilizing Right Back, but being able to offer overlapping runs to allow Salah more freedom with his own game.

2nd March 2026 at 10:54 pm #240536You might criticize Salah but he is registering 0.69 goal contributions in his last 8 or 9 games overall. 2 goals and 4 assists or something. Ekitike is leading the ratio right now with Gakpo third.
I think Mac Alister and Van Dijk might be outperforming them though in our last 5 games or so.

2nd March 2026 at 10:58 pm #240538We lost a lot of goals from last season, mainly Salah’s form then Diaz and Jota. Then a few more by Nunez.
Our attacking trio has mainly been Gakpo, Ekitike and Salah this season. There is no Minamono or Origi to help out with the output.

3rd March 2026 at 6:25 am #240543@notorious bingo salah may not be hitting the same numbers… however we are just that much better as a team when he plays. Same with gomez playing at right back instead of curtis or szobo… better defensively and attacking wise.
Had salah played in the games he missed due to afcon we would be much higher up the table i believe… likewise with bradley and frimpong. But thats part and parcel in football, you expect injuries and sometimes luck to go against you. Just happy everything went well last season and we won the league… thats why im so relaxed this season, not to say that i dont want to win anything… but everything went for us last season.

3rd March 2026 at 1:47 pm #240554Agreed Sean. Wolves have suddenly decided to be a lot more resilient but they are obviously beatable. If we go in there with a lackadaisical attitude we could also easily get turned over.
We’re gonna have the lion’s share of possession no doubt and think Frimpong will start to help against their more than likely 541 and help Mo out who is usually invisible against low blocks.

3rd March 2026 at 4:18 pm #240556Wolves are probably gonna go with a back three, if Frimpong starts we can break them down early on, Gomez has been good though on the right when fit and his long throws are a asset actually.

3rd March 2026 at 4:31 pm #240557Standard this season has neen awful right through out the league
I watch a lot of football but this season has been so bad. Corners taking all day as everyone grabbing out of each other, long throws, set pmays, 0-0 games, absolutely dreadful stuff at times
Some really poor games. League or standard of player is no were near it was 10-15-20 years ago
Theres barely 10 proper world class players in the whole league. Liverpool have been as poor as anyone to watch
Arsenal v Chelsea game was abysmal. West v utd, everton v utd, us v forest, leeds, Sunderland and many more absolutely dreadful stuff

3rd March 2026 at 4:47 pm #240558Bingo/Asian, there’s a correlation with the player that left us in the summer and the 4-2-3-1-4-3-3. Sure, we’ve played with inverted wingers, but you need the overlap of full-backs to stimulate movement of more than one motion at a time.
Kerkez has and is growing. Right-back has been stop-start-start. These are key factors in my eyes that contribute to both Salah and Gakpo in their own game and their output. Having the Balance means functional all areas of the pitch and not having to compromise or keep having to adapt because of shortages of the right/appropriate personnel.
