This is such a good article about our new manager search. Its absolutely spot on but written with some great doses of humour as well!!

26th March 2026 at 11:26 am #242544That is exactly why I would prefer Enrique because the whole team would be required to work their asses off be it winning or loosing and if you can’t do that then it’s the bench or out the club… this season Dembele who is the current Ballon d’or holder has been benched multiple times when out of form..: we have players who are jogging back after loosing the ball instead of bursting their guts to help their teammates.
Happy that article is fairly inaccurate. Managing a team competing for just champions league qualification is quite different than when Carrick will have to manage the whole squad to compete in the league, Champions League and Cup games which means multiple games each week and we all know player rotations is something he isn’t good at as evident by when he coached in the Championship and us this season. His inexperience on that level has to also be considered.

26th March 2026 at 12:39 pm #242550Remember what Ragnick said about United requiring a complete overhaul?Yet we still have Shaw,Arry,Bruno, etc.Even Jose wanted rid of so many players. We need a new mentality,a winning one! Until that’s done,we won’t be winning major trophies.

26th March 2026 at 12:51 pm #242551I’m not against splashing the cash maverick, I’m merely pointing out that Enrique and Guardiola have only achieved when they either managed a team with the best players and / or with the most money. In fact, in Guardiola’s case, he’s only ever managed teams with the best players or most money. Look what happened to the great Ancelotti at Everton, shite!

26th March 2026 at 1:23 pm #242553Pep is a cunt mate,a despicable creature, like Jose. But Enrique got rid of so many big egos, has turned Dembele into the world’s best, and has given so many youngsters the opportunity. That’s what we need,a complete rebuild!

26th March 2026 at 4:32 pm #242571Everton were excellent under Ancelotti, massively over performed. They went to complete shit when he left, proof again that he’s a top class coach and manager

26th March 2026 at 5:38 pm #242577He paid a lot of money for very ordinary players like James Rodriguez killy and they entertained for a while, but excellent’s a bit of an exaggeration I think. He’s a has been and he has been for some time.

26th March 2026 at 5:57 pm #242578The whole point of appointing a temporary manager was to allow the board to do due diligence searching for a permanent manager. If they were just to appoint Carrick on the basis of what he’s done, regardless of getting Champions League football. Without interviewing other candidates then they will have failed in the original objective. (If we finish top4 and we should, as someone here said in an earlier post. He deserves an interview nothing more!

26th March 2026 at 6:40 pm #242581Diggy mate … when ever has the club made a well calculated plan or otherwise followed up on it… they will most likely make a mess of it as they never follow sound reasoning when making vital decisions be it under Woodturd or INEOS …

27th March 2026 at 9:13 am #242595Lads, being honest, it’s a fucking lottery. You can do all the due diligence in the world and still fuck it up, that’s not to say that we’ve been doing things properly for the last decade, I’m just saying. You can look and get a manager who meets all the criteria you want and it still might not work. It’s the same with buying players.

27th March 2026 at 10:18 am #242599We say that we got Jose and Van Gaal. In my opinion we got them too late when they were past their sell by dates. Never been a fan of Jose but the time to get him was when Fergie retired. At that time a big personality with a don’t give a fuck attitude was required.

27th March 2026 at 4:28 pm #242634Yeah I agree we’ve never really tried the “get the best manager around” option as everyone seems to keep saying we have. Moyes certainly wasn’t! Jose and Van Gaal were well past their sell by dates when they arrived here too. Ten Haag had done well at Ajax but certainly wasn’t the best around at the time. Amorim was supposedly the best up and coming manager in Europe, but certainly not the best around.
And Michael Carrick certainly isn’t the best manager around at the moment. So they could try to actually do a google search of who is currently the best manager around and then hire him!
Or give it to Carrick and see what happens…_____________________________

27th March 2026 at 5:21 pm #242636Who is the best manager though? Luis Enrique? Tuchel? Flick? If we were to go out and get the best manager around, or one of the best, who would we get? If we couldn’t get Enrique from PSG, who’s next?
