Such early days and the way games are going, you would have absolutely no idea who is going to finish were.
I think it’s great. Might be the most open season for a while but the games are cracking

Various refs have come out saying that it still applies. Why? I don’t know but it might be down to the fact that the game wasn’t in play, only after the fact. there wasn’t actually a flag/whistle at that time right? Well whatever the reason, they wouldn’t be saying it if it weren’t true and these panels use retired top refs, so they’d know.

Nine, have we heard any more information on how long it might be? I mean, if the reports last night were wrong and he can be back sooner that’d be fantastic. I also don’t know how bad Thiago’s injury is but Sky are calling it an impact injury and not as serious, so hopefully it’s actually a very mild one.

Depending on the recovery time I suspect Liverpool may look to strengthen in that area in January.

Villa can take confidence. Grealish has support of Barkley in the middle and Ollie Watkins as a target man.

Well the thing is, Gomez has to step up and even then, Matip wont last a season. What if we lose them both? Who will partner Fabinho? We were already light at the back before this huge injury, so we’re in serious trouble now. Our title defence prospects are in tatters and we’re only 4 games in.

Van Dijk a loss no doubt, but he has taken his eye off the ball in my opinion in recent months. Fabinho has looked ok at CB. Gomez now has the perfect opportunity to step up. Some cover in January needed, but I won’t be panicking just yet, though our midfield is probably going to have to press more to help compensate.

Pagan you’re right about free kicks and penalties i don’t think anyone is disputing that (except me because I don’t think VvD was offside!), but you can give red cards for incidents when the play has stopped. Numerous pundits, ex refs and journos have said this and don’t understand why Pickford wasn’t sent off. The Athletic report that the var ref didn’t even check the foul only concentrating on the offside of VvD.
