Not seen Sean, unusually for some time. Hope he’s doing alright.
Rub off effect in particular today that impressed me; really going the extra mile tracking back then trying to win back possession cleanly. That had to be. Otherwise, Chelsea could probably have steam-rolled us with goals.
I can’t believe out of 10 games, we’ve let in just 3 goals. Jurgen would be proud of this from Arne Slot so far π

20th October 2024 at 9:15 pm #216036Thanks Alfie. Hated my 30s because United never won the league title. Let’s hope that changes in my 40s. You realise life is too short.

20th October 2024 at 9:18 pm #216037Arne Slot has proved me wrong so far. Liverpool took a risk, but that risk is paying off. He had big shoes to fill when he arrived, yet has been extremely sensible with his approach. Like the saying goes the best defense is a good offense.

20th October 2024 at 9:20 pm #216038Sean, thanks for the reply mate π Really grateful for our start. Arne Slot has really elevated and empowered these players to make them more resilient and skilful; it’s so good to see.
Lol, I’m trying not to let all the City stuff change my mood for tonight. Credit to Wolves though in not letting it be a cricket score.

20th October 2024 at 9:24 pm #216039CM, had that effect in the 90s mate under Ferguson; ruined my Teen and 20s haha π
Hard to take in what Arne Slot has done so far and I didn’t honestly expect the outcome we’ve achieved so far.
Very tough game next Sunday.

20th October 2024 at 9:28 pm #216040Yup. A close friend of mine who is a massive United fan works in a School. He said that the current year 7 were not even born when Manchester United last won the league. That is how quick time goes.

21st October 2024 at 7:33 am #216042Hope you had a good birthday CM. Yeah good start by Slot, no getting away from that. I did think theyβd get off to a flier and Iβve always maintained weβll not know much about Slot until they hit their first bad spell, which theyβve yet to do. So far, shades of Angeβs start at Spurs. Letβs see how they react to their first bad spell under him. Full credit to their start this far.
As for our lot, I just canβt work us out. Thought we looked very good after the tactical switch before which Brentford were all over us. The thing with us under Ten Hag is you know an awful performance is just around the corner at any given time.

21st October 2024 at 8:15 am #216043Thays it ed, far to early to judge slot. Lets see were we are at Christmas but im not expecting a title challenge. Injuries creeping in already and massive tests ahead. No one should be getting carried away by our start. Very favourable fixtures.
Utd should be bearing brentford. People were saying utd had changed a corner after keeping clean sheets againest average sides like palace, barnsley etc. even now they have real winnable games so you cant judge after this run of games either.
Judge utd when they have played and performed againest the top 8 to ten teams

21st October 2024 at 10:14 am #216044Or maybe we have got a chance this season as I said before things started in August. I expect less injuries because I donβt think our training is as intensive. We are more controlled than before and our defensive record is also very strong. The one thing that would make me feel that bit more confident would be the acquisition of a proper defensive midfielder. Gravenberch & Jones did very well yesterday but it makes us more dependent on everyone performing well (which I think was a weakness under Klopp) whereas in the games where that wonβt be the case we need that insurance policy to help bail us out in midfield to make us more robust. Add that in January and I think weβve got a real chance.

21st October 2024 at 10:33 am #216045There has to be a correlation between the injury list and training methods.

21st October 2024 at 11:20 am #216046Not so sure mikuis, im expecting a lull at some stage as it really is a huge change for us with a new manager mate.
As ed says, see if we bounce back after a few defeats. Big week now with two tough away games which will tell us more about us

21st October 2024 at 11:56 am #216047I’m not sure many Utd fans have been talking about any corners being turned this season Sean. Brentford are a tricky side for a lot of the big teams so I never take beating them for granted but you’re right that we should be beating them if we have any kind of aspirations this season. I think most Utd fans are just resigned to the fact Ten Hag is on borrowed time now so these mini revivals are probably just delaying the inevitable.

21st October 2024 at 3:44 pm #216048I’ve seen this now having given more attention to it:
I mean all in all let’s not kid ourselves; Did Silva really just choose to hover around that particular spot close to the keeper for a Tea Party?
Did he move as the ball was played to make out he wasn’t blocking Jose Sar’s line of vision?
In my mind he WILL be in your eyeline and that means it’s a Distraction which takes away focus from the focal point. So being a cynic about this, this appears to be designed and the rule needs to be looked at.
This is Fergie Time all over again, but in Blue.

21st October 2024 at 5:42 pm #216050On a seperate note, glad to hear Danny Wellbeck’s broken back, an incident which occurred in the 84th minute while his team were defending a 1-0 nil lead away from home and which took 7 minutes for the medics to carry him off the pitch has miracously been cured and he should be fit to play next weekend…

21st October 2024 at 7:29 pm #216051As much as I a was gutted to see it the John Stones goal decision was 100% correct. Silva does make minor contact with Sa as the ball is played in but nothing beyond the rules and you can’t be offside from a corner. When Stones heads it Silva is no longer interfering with play so dosnt matter that he’s in an offside position. Very clever and within the rules.

21st October 2024 at 9:36 pm #216052I see your explanation 3ps from what supposedly is the rules. You can’t be offside from a corner, but from a Goalkeeper’s perspective, unless, the opposition guy is sleeping or point-blank stationery, I refer to my original point in him clearly being there as a ‘decoy’ and a distraction.
Sceptical I remain on this.

22nd October 2024 at 8:13 am #216053As already mentioned, it’s all about consistancy with those calls… I’ve seen an awful lot worse happen at corners not given, so if they gave it for that, I’d be bloody annoyed…
