Fair enough, Brian, but it’s not just the next match that counts. If we’d lost the first 8 matches, our next match wouldn’t matter in terms of the title race! But you’re right, statistics can be twisted, but I’ve taken as wide a spread as I can possibly do i.e everybody’s first 8 games – 20% of the season.
Anyway, as you say it’s all bullshit really – it was only meant as a talking point, so I guess I achieved my objective!10th October 2018 at 7:09 pm #27065
999 – not a problem, man! I’m realistic. Like you I feel City will stretch their lead fairly soon, especially with KDB back. But if someone had said to me we’d be joint top after 8 games having played Spurs and Chelsea away and City at home, I’d have laughed at them10th October 2018 at 9:43 pm #27066

Hightown, you’re not far away mate and I think there’s been a massive step in the right direction with the signings of Allison and VVD.
I certainly wouldn’t rule you out of the title race although I do think big CL games followed by PL games exposes your squad as being a bit thin v City’s in similar circumstances and they still have KDB to come back and he’s probably a £200m player.
It won’t be easy for anyone to finish ahead of City but there’s a long way to go and if Leicester proved anything it was that anything is possible.? Cheers 99911th October 2018 at 7:57 am #27068
Do you guys think city and luveroool changed tactics on Sunday? Both were a lot conservative on Sunday in my opinion. Gomez didn’t cross the line in the 1st half. We weren’t getting men forward like we usually do and there was no suooort for the front 3. We were the same ahainest Napoli. I’m
A huge fan of Klopps because he usually attack’s any team anywhere. At home to city maybe he was right because go to gun ho and they would pick us apart
Not sure what has happened to our pressing. We look wrecked already
I thought city were a bit conservative aswell. Only one full back attacked at a time and the other pushed into me 3 at the back. City’s back 4 also took a few steps back and didn’t play as high a line as usual. Shows the respect both teams have for each other
City will walk the league. It’s only a matter of time before they pull away.
I’ve watched a bit of Chelsea and they are well in the hunt. Reakky fast football, lots of passing and high press. Very good team11th October 2018 at 8:03 am #27069
Hightown, delighted with our start mate
We have had a little blip and international break came at a good time for us but we’re already lacking numbers in midfield. Milner our for a month. Lalanna night aswell not be there. He’s always injured
The squad is to weak to challenge for the title. We need to start rotating a bit more. Fabhino and keita need more games. Both are taking time to settle in but they need to integrated into the side
Sturridge and Shaqiri need more starts.he needs to trust the squad11th October 2018 at 10:23 am #27074
Liverpool have done well so far. Reckon once things get going for them they will be up there along with Chelsea and City imo. They had a slow start last season too, but this time round they are winning games when not playing well. Whilst last season they had a lot of draws and a loss under their belt.11th October 2018 at 11:05 am #27078
spurs are also winning games whilst not playing well and with a lot of injuries!11th October 2018 at 11:25 am #27079
That’s true. IMO it is down to how quickly they adjust to their new home stadium. They had similar problems at Wembley, West Ham with their stadium and Arsenal at the Emirates.11th October 2018 at 1:34 pm #27084
Spurs and aresnal both doing well now
Winning games they should be winning and picking up points11th October 2018 at 3:22 pm #27085

Guys, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs will all be there at the finish, maybe Utd also if they get themselves sorted, there is no certainty in this. We have a very good squad but all it takes is a few injuries, Ref’s decisions going wrong, or just plain off colour, points will be dropped at some point City are wonderful to watch, even sometimes when they are not playing that well but by no means unbeatable
What the league needs is for another team to get in the mix, maybe Everton can do it. It would be good for top 10 to be scapping for it rather than just top4 imo11th October 2018 at 3:29 pm #27086

Hightown…just keep away from the “IFS” it is the next match that counts for any team. I am sure you are a great supporter and I enjoy reading your posts, we all have opinions, for myself I have never believed or relied on the past the “IFS” or what might have been.. Last season is over, we are on a clean slate lets all enjoy the future battles. We both have very tough games after the break Burnley and Huddersfield are noy as bad as there position suggest and they will be ready11th October 2018 at 5:03 pm #27091
Brian – while it would be great to have a top 10 scrapping for the title, I think we should be glad we have 4,5 or 6 teams that at the beginning of the season could feasibly challenge. If you look around Europe we are pretty much alone, certainly amongst the major leagues, that have that level of competition. Even the Italian league which used to have both Milan clubs, Napoli, Roma and Lazio scrapping with Juventus, it’s now nailed on Juve every year…is it 6 years on the bounce? Spain is pretty much just the big two, Germany is sewn up by Bayern every year recently, and I just can’t imagine following football in France.
So yeah, more competition would be fantastic, but it’s actually not too bad here at the moment. Might look back at this post in 5 years time after City have won 6 on the bounce, eh??!!12th October 2018 at 8:50 am #27103

In most sports, coming second in the Olympics you come home with a silver medal,” he said.
“In football, it’s nothing. And it’s nothing for me as well. I want to win it, and I know that’s a responsibility.”
“I put all I have, knowledge, passion, heart, experience, I throw everything into the club 100 per cent. I don’t keep anything back.
“It should work, actually, at one point. But until then, we should have a really good time.”
Good attitude from Klopp. I wonder where United would be had they appointed him three years ago?12th October 2018 at 9:28 am #27104
based on the fact liverpool have won absolutely nothing under klopp (so far) possibly in a similar situation.12th October 2018 at 7:11 pm #27110
Who knows nine
Paxton, we know you don’t like klopp one bit. It’s no problem but he had drastically changed everything about the club. If he doesn’t win anything next season or the season after the fans will still support him because he knows exactly what the club is all about.
No cups but 3 finals which gives the supporters a day out and the hope of winning something
We haven’t had European nights like this in nearly ten years. We had 3 finals in 8 years before he came. We have had successive top 4 finishes for the 1st time in 9 years. The club is moving forward off and in the pitch
You think he’s over rated. Your opinion but he’s changed this club. He’s improved players no end. We can play some great stuff. We can now defend and that had cost money but we sold our so called best player to fund this and we still haven’t replaced him. Money can’t but success all the time
We might never win anything under him because city are going to dominate as long as pep is there. We need a cup no doubt but I’m patient. For the first time in years our name is out there again
He has lost 6 finals in a row. We have lost our last 4. It’s a monkey him and the club need to get off their back
Liverpool fans love klopp because he had brought back a bit of hope and I love watching us play. I’m not going overboard. We won’t win the league and we won’t win a cup but we will keep supporting the manager as their is direction on and off the pitch
People are always quick to slate others in football. Last year it was klopp couldn’t get us to defend no matter who we bought. Then it was won’t gwt top 4 because we sold couthino yet no mention of it when we are getting better at defending and scored shit loads of goals without couthino
