Always think the “little shove in the back when you’re moving at pace” line is a bit of an oxymoron. I’ve played a fair bit of both rugby and ice-hockey, so I can only disagree with that… professional footballers fall down at the merest hint of contact, and very, very, very rarely try to stay on their feet.

True, but in rugby (or hockey for that matter), if you fell down like a wet kipper because touched your back, you’d get laughed at for being a bit of a tart. That aspect is completely missing from footy!

Kills me when you hear the commentators “praise” a player for not falling over, and in the next breath “but he should have…”

Thats it banjo, we criticise it but it counts for little when the reality of the modern game is that there is little incentive to be honest but massive incentive to be dishonest.

Fair enough Hightown. I mean I can’t be 100% sure about my position on it. Maybe he could have been fouled and going down in such a dramatic style has gone against him. I can’t be arsed to look at it again TBH.
