Do you think he should go based on his outburst Chucky? He can’t keep his job after that, surely?

Double edged sword… there was a lot of truth in what he said, but then again, according to reports, he’s also lost a lot of the dressing room (in which case you also have to lay some of the blame on the players!)… if he isn’t staying after this season then it all seems a pointless keeping him now… put Wee Ryan in charge until summer or (as I suspect), they’re crosssing I’s and dotting T’s with whoever is coming in…

I’ll be very surprised if he’s still in the dugout vs Toffeemen for the next game!

Anyway, race for TOP4 is really hotting up, that’s for sure!!

Did fancy our chances but 4 points from the last 9 against teams we really should be beating doesn’t bode well for my boys!! 3 more “easy on paper” games coming up, before we get a Bone Saw, YooUtd, Pool trificta… I think if we don’t get 9 from 9 in the next three games we can say goodbye to CL footy for next year!

Nobody looks consistent at all in the top 4 race. For a while, we looked nailed on for 3rd with the 4th spot to come from one of Spurs, Brighton, Newcastle or Liverpool. We look like getting dragged into it now. Really wouldn’t like to have any money riding on it. I’d still fancy Utd and Liverpool to be the two, in any order. But it is wide open.

Chuck I will be surprised if Levy sacks Conte now as his going to lose out financially. As for Conte I don’t think his even worried either way . He obviously also has a mental problem with all the clubs his managed but I suppose most managers do have too.

Thing is Rover, he’ll lose a hell of a lot more if we miss out on CL footy and it just might be a “new-manager” bounce that pushes us over the line…

And as I mentioned on the other thread… I wonder if the “outburst” would have happened if it weren’t for that ridiculous peno… but he is a bit mental, for sure! (But then again, he hasn’t had the greatest of years on a personal level either, he wouldn’t be human if he wasn’t affected by that to a degree either!)

His contract is up in the summer, isn’t it? Would assume fairly cheap to replace if they wanted to.

Yeh, like Mourinho at Man Utd, it’s never a good sign when the manager’s permanently living in a hotel.

One of the solutions is to employ more officials. That way for example, it doesn’t feel like Chris Kavanagh is covering every other Fulham game.

From the outside, it does often appear as though they lack officials; if Anthony Taylor isn’t on the pitch Refereeing, then he’s one of the 4th officials.

We should allow more coming through either from abroad and/or from the lower divisions; give these people the opportunity.

Looks like too, a retrain is needed on VAR and reinforcement and clarity too on certain rules of the game.

Supposedly by April 1st, we should have ready both Tiago and Luis Diaz. Often on the back of an International Break as well as 12:30 kick offs we don’t fare well.

Looking at the form Man City are in, we could be in for humiliation. Chelsea at home on Tuesday. Essentially, it’s one game at a time and at the moment, I can’t look beyond where we are or where are next 3 points will come from let alone 4th which I believe we will miss out on.

I’d disagree Nil, I think we should be aiming for a smaller pool of referees, that would greatly increase the level of consistancy as there would be fewer numpties in black with their own interpretation of the rules (and in their defense, there are a lot of “grey” area’s in the rules that can be interpreted in multiple ways depending on which way the wind is blowing!)

Chucks, I see where you’re coming from, from building a relationship with club managers POV, but this seems to be fractured every now and then. I would not hold back from pointing out our own manager has often been in the face of an official.

There is an official on the touchline that’s accessible and managers naturally will vent. If we have fewer, then we need boundaries in place and respect.

Certain rules need to be reevaluated and a stipulation in black and white or defined as clear and obvious. It seems to me with the added technology, the quality of the game has worsened or there an increased lack of consistency which I’m sure mate we all agree that’s the key problem.

Totally agree that the shannigans on the touchline, BY ALL MANAGERS, needs to be stopped… amusing when it’s somebody else, bloody embarressing when it’s your own!

As for the black and white rules, easier said that done… I mean, take the old “contact in the box” argument for example… do we make it “black and white”, i.e. there was contact so it’s a foul (and watch everybody fall over when somebody farts in the box!) or leave it as it is… up to the referee to decide if the player is being a tart or not!

Can’t see Liverpool getting anywhere near the top 4. Atrocious season from us. Absolutely horrendous to watch at times.

Our away from is shameful. I think we beat Arsenal at home, maybe draw at Chelsea and get slaughtered by city.

We then play the likes of west jan etc away which we will lose.

                                  I’ve certainly given up.

You would strongly fancy utd for the Europa league now as arsenal were the only serious contenders.

Very bad season for Liverpool fans but hopefully Klopp is given some proper mo ye in the summer. The calls for Bellingham all season have being hilarious. He was never coming to us.

Seems like every summer it’s make or break time for a few clubs and this year is no excpetion… the only two nailed on for next year are the current Top2… everybody else are all over the place… suppose it keeps it all interesting!!

YooUtd… “they” all thought they had turned the corner, perhaps that was called a bit early, but surely going to be spending a few bob!

Pool… a badly aging team (apart from up top!) that every man and his dog can see needs a few signings just to tread water…

Spuds… complete basket case, certainly a new man in the dug-out, and a bloated squad when all the “loanees” come homw…

Chelsea… another bloated squad that probaly needs to be trimmed due to FFP rules and a manager who is starting to appear a bit out of his depth…

Bone Saw Boyz… probably not a Top4 side yet (only there as everybody else is useless) but going to be spending a few bob too!!

And plenty of room for a few other teams to pull a “Liecester” for a Top4 spot!!

Chucks absolutely mate; if the Refs can be bold in calling out a dive which can lead to an on the spot red card (in my eyes), this will weed out the fakery (subject a final check by VAR (or VAR refer back to the Ref).

The offside needs to be reevaluated, handball, and shirt-tugging/infringement (which is what I was classify as contact).

Sean, hard to disagree with all that mate. The way Saka and the Gunners are playing reminded me of an earlier Liverpool when Mane was firing; 2017 version.

Liverpool are too and have been hit and miss; they’re a 2-fold outfit. We’ve dropped points this season against teams we shouldn’t have and we just roll out the red carpet and allow teams to tread all over all.

So unless we can reform an 11 that will guide us through our last 10 matches, our season is effectively over.

Spurs and Newcastle to fight it out for 4th.

Sean, you would think so but Sevilla are just about to change manager and are the kings of this competition in recent seasons. Their league form suggests we should be too much for them but you never know with a new manager bounce. Let’s see who they get in. Juventus are no pushovers either and would be comfortably second in Serie A but for the points deduction. Also, the very fact Arsenal themselves were knocked out by an inferior side despite flying in the PL suggests we can’t and won’t take anything for granted. Would be incredible to end the season with a double but I’d happily take the League Cup and top 4 this season. Also, you can never, ever write off a Mourinho side in a one-off game. He’s still very capable of beating any side over 90mins, whatever it takes.

Re Bellingham Sean, every single top level journalist has been saying it’s Liverpool or Madrid all season. I think only Liverpool’s recent demise that has seen City nip back in with a solid chance and Liverpool’s chances all but vanish. We’ve been trying too and have never given up hope after coming close to getting him instead of him going to Dortmund but we’ve no chance either seemingly at the moment. I don’t think we’d pay the kind of fee Dortmund would want on a single player and I don’t think he’d see us as a safe enough choice yet if he wants trophies (though the same can be said of Liverpool now, in fairness).

Besides, we’ve had our fingers burnt on multiple Dortmund players in the past. Kagawa, Mkhitaryan and Sancho have all failed to live up to their hype. After seeing Bellingham against Chelsea, I’d be extremely wary about paying Β£150mil for him. For that kind of money, I’d want a guaranteed world beater. I’m not entirely convinced Bellingham is that, for all his undoubted potential and current quality. I think Musiala is a much better player personally.
