Hi all
Apologies that I’ve not been on for a while. Just had a lot going on so haven’t really had the time to contribute to the forum but have been keeping an eye on the site as always to make sure there are no issues.
As I’ve explained before, I don’t run the site to make money. It costs me to maintain the site and I’ve considered running ads on the site to make it pay for itself but have decided not to go that route.
With that said, it would be nice to have the site self-funded to some degree so I’ve added a widget to the site for voluntary donations. I don’t expect anything but if you feel you’d like to help contribute to the upkeep of the site, please feel free to do so through the widget on the site. This is not to make any money from the site but to just contribute to the maintenance costs.

6th January 2026 at 12:21 pm #235815Editor, in what forms would the potential ads take place? If they’re banners down the side of the site then that wouldn’t be much of a bother. If it was constant pop-ups then obviously not a good thing.
I live abroad and when accessing the BBC website there are ads, but they’re not very obtrusive and don’t really detract from the user experience. The donation approach may not work very well, is what I’m getting at. I donate money regularly to charity and, whilst I mean this in the sincerest form possible and with the greatest respect, donating to a football forum website isn’t high on the list of priorities for donation.
Happy to discuss privately if there is a means of doing so. I sincerely mean that.
I’m quite sure everyone here doesn’t want this to be a loss-making endeavour for you.

6th January 2026 at 12:30 pm #235817No I get that Ed re the donations and if I have zero expectations re donations. I just had to renew the site for another year and with each year, I wonder if it’s worth it. It probably costs around £200 a year as well as a fair amount of my own time.
I might look at ads again at some point in the future.
To clarify, I’m not looking or expecting any donations to fully cover my costs and even less interested in making a profit on the site. It’s merely a way of saying that if anyone wants to donate a token sum as a way of gratitude then it would be very welcome. If not, that’s totally fine too and I will continue running the site regardless and making sure it is kept running.

6th January 2026 at 2:58 pm #235828I wouldn´t mind a couple of ads running but I also wouldn´t mind sending a few quid to keep the forum clean.
