I don’t disagree with the sentiments. It’s just i think you go too far in talking about the PL as if all 38 games have been played. It’s one thing to say you don’t think we’ll win the PL (we most likely won’t) but to say there is absolutely no chance and speak about it in a manner as if it you were talking about last season… I can’t agree with this at all.
If I didn’t know yourself and Sean better (top lads), I would think that you guys were taking credit away from our own project and how close we’ve run City so far. I’ve known ye both for years though, so I know better but it still doesn’t read well sometimes. I have said before that I get the negativity, as you’re generally right about City. I do think Pep has maximised the tools available to him though and deserves credit for that but, you’re still not wrong with regards to them buying this success. This could lead sown a whole discussion about FFP and how it needs to be improved upon but that’s for another day.
Adding the money side of things to our kinda bad luck in terms not winning trophies and i can see where you are coming from but I think you’ve got to weigh that against the other teams who didn’t get to support a team in a title race this season. We’re unlucky in a sense but also extremely lucky to have such good owners, a world class sporting director and manager. They are all in-sync with each other and the team improves year on year.
With all of this in mind, surely the teams efforts this season deserve more than the waving of a white flag?
The best successes in any walk of life, come from an uphill battle. I try not to get my hopes up too much but the possibility is still alive that we can win this PL. I think the team that manages it this season, takes an extra special title.
Hang in there.3rd May 2019 at 7:11 am #39692
The issue I personally have about the whole “buying success” is simply there has always been a team that has bought success. Despite Klopp spending 380 million on players, comments here are about what City have spent. Say City didn’t exist, this would mean Liverpool would win the league this year, having allowed Klopp to spend 380 million to get there… could this also be considered buying success??
Money isn’t everything, look at YooUtd for an example, there is a lot more to it than blank checks. Although I’ll be the first to admit it bloody helps! 🙂
And, yes, I’m pretty sure have the biggest checks during Liverpool’s glory years certainly helped maintain that glory in that period. Doubt you Micky Mousers were complaining then…3rd May 2019 at 7:53 am #39694
pretty sure both City, and Pool (and several other clubs) speant ridonculous amounts of money the time Leicester won the PL….money helps, its important but to say Pool or anyone else cant or wont win the PL because of City/cash and Pep is silly IMHO
it was the same with Chelsea, they won lots but not every year for a decade…
should I moan because when we actually did manage to win the PL a few times we were up against one of the best PL teams in united who had always spent so much more cash?
if Klopp does end up leaving with no trophy it will be down to Klopp and his team, he could win a domestic cup, the PL or any other on offer and has shown this by consistant challenges…he also managed to beat a pretty good Bayern team when at Dortmund….
i hate to do it but i agree wit the chuckle brother, every team (almost) at the time they won the PL spent BIG money and could be said to have an unfair advantage, including with Blackburn…..
in fact over this period the only club who hasnt is Leicester and in comparison, Arsenal….
ive said this before, those saying trhe PL is bought and complaining its the same for all clubs, Man U always the richest and spent the most…Blackburns owner started the process of “buying the PL” though it cost him personally, then you have City and Chelsea
i dont think city will be as dominant as united were for as long as they were either….3rd May 2019 at 7:58 am #39695

Stevo, mak ,oz etc appreciate the replies.
I never really mention money. It’s not how much you spend but how you spend it.
Chelsea bought so well under Jose. Pep the same at city even Klopp at Liverpool
As much as people don’t want to hear it, net spend is how clubs spending is judged. Gary Neville constantly goes on about it. Nine as well for years
Yet now Liverpool’s spending on here is not being judged on net spend. The fact is city don’t have to sell to buy. Liverpool would not have spend like they did on the summer only for the couthino sale
People bypass that to suit their arguments. Us and spurs have the lowest net spend since Klopp took over
Nine is agreeing that we spend 380m but we haven’t. Nine always argued net spend for Chelsea now it’s different for Liverpool?
Be consistent in your opinion guys and don’t let club bias come into it
Liverpool have spent huge money but it can’t be compared to utd or cities spending.,3rd May 2019 at 9:34 am #39716
Stevo my Klopp comments are more about us not being able to get over the final hurdle for some reason
We have been unfortunate and I think we used all our luck up in 05!
My reason on pep is his team have only dropped about 30 points in two seasons?
So do people think city will drop down 30 points next season? I certainly don’t
Mak, I said the minute we let this out of our hands , ciry would pick up the pace. I said it right after the Everton game which we needed to win to stay in control
It is over without a shadow of a doubt. A team like city will not drop points in their next two games. It be 14 wins a row and they will fully deserve it3rd May 2019 at 9:36 am #39717
i have not mentioned liverpool spend Net or otherwise, you hasve spent big and you have spent well, you have though as you say had to sell to do that, my only point is, moaning about city now is not only futile but silly, look at every team that won the PL since inception, year by year, look at those years, squad and player costs and the only ones that have not bought the league was Leicester and Arsenal once or twice (and that being generous and comparing against being up agtainst united and chelsea at various times…3rd May 2019 at 9:42 am #39718
I’m. It moanimg about city and haven’t once. My point is they will dominate the league until pep is there as they will only better with the best manager in the world at helm
