Thoughts? I think this could be brilliant! Really hope to get to see a World Cup in the UK in my lifetime

My thoughts exactly, Ed. I was 4 in 1966, so have no recollection of it whatsoever, but I do remember how good Euro 96 was. It would be fantastic.

I don’t like to think like that Adlab but I must admit that crossed my mind too.

I hope it does happen though I was lucky enough as a Schoolboy that my Mum bought me a Season ticket for Wembley Stadium for the 1966 World Cup Ginals which I went every game to with a School friend all the England games including the Final all for £11.😊

Wow, incredible Nine. Very jealous. Imagine what the equivalent would set someone back in 2030

Doubt we will get it, too political a bit like Eurovision and too many countries just do not want us to have it.

Ed, I think that £11 works out at about circa £170 in today’s terms. It would still be a bargain.😊

We were stood behind the Goal as I remember it at the opposite end to where the players came out.

We were very lucky we applied for two season tickets at Wembley a long while in advance and were very fortunate to be allocated them at the time of course we didn’t know who we would be likely to see outside of England’s group games or of course that we would get to see England play in a World Cup Final.

That day despite the length of time that has passed still remains deeply etched in my mind as does all the games we saw and so nice to share it with a friend from school especially as we both played together for the school through all the age groups so we were team mates as well as friends. Just a massive massive stroke of luck being allocated the season tickets.😊 Cheers 9’s
