So the worst kept secret in football is now out, but will Arsenal be criticised for playing him for 4 years knowing he was under investigation. And why did the met police wait until the week he left Arsenal before charging him?

4th July 2025 at 5:21 pm #221036Alfie, it’s quite possible that these victims came forward some time after the alleged incidents. Partey may also have been arrested and let go within a short time frame on bail, and not been, obviously, under investigation as far as Arsenal are concerned. When you get arrested, your employer doesn’t get informed automatically. I’m more interested in him getting convicted than whether Arsenal had the bad fortune of hiring a deviant. And I’m Chelsea fan.

4th July 2025 at 5:27 pm #221039Being under investigation and being charged and then being found guilty are all completely different things. Even though he’s been charged that still doesn’t mean he’s guilty although, with what will be such a high profile case, he probably wouldn’t be charged unless they knew a conviction would be highly likely. In the eyes of the law, but not public opinion, he’s innocent until proven guilty.

4th July 2025 at 5:58 pm #221044This has been circulating for years and now hes finally been charged just four days after leaving Arsenal. Its hard to believe the club didnt see this coming, yet they continued to play him. Absolutely disgraceful

4th July 2025 at 9:24 pm #221050Ed de goey, as the devil says this has been circulating for years. His club was informed by the first victim (which was either his wife at the time or a girlfriend known to the club in Aug 2021). The police were told of the second rape shortly after (he seemed to have a wife and girlfriends at the same time and would openly cheat). He was accused of rape, coercive behavior and some form of abuse, I think five counts in all.
It was well known and his club knew all about it, because those making the numerous claims told them.
Yes, innocent until proven guilty. Just surprised the met police waited until the week he left Arsenal before charging him, and it has been kept under wraps by the London press. Greenwood was guilty even after charges were dropped, and he didnβt play for the club again. Partey has been very, very lucky that Arsenal and their fans have turned a blind eye for so long.

4th July 2025 at 11:37 pm #221054Agree 100%. Everyone knew about the accusations yet Arsenal let him play and he could even of won a PL medal. The hypocrisy in the media is fucking unbelievable when you compare it to Greenwood. I wonder if the Arsenal woman’s team will come out and hammer the club now that it’s public knowledge.

7th July 2025 at 11:11 am #221135Arsenal fans are often the loudest when it comes to preaching about morals and fairness yet when its their own club in the spotlight, the outrage vanishes into silence. I dont just expect the media to avoid pressing Arteta on this but I am also certain the usual pundits (Carragher, Neville, etc) will rush to defend him and even dismiss any journalist daring to ask tough questions.

7th July 2025 at 12:31 pm #221140The press haven’t asked Arteta or Arsenal any questions on it so far. They all knew what was happening as it played out, and stayed silent.
Everything about it stinks.
