Tough game Denmark were very resolute and it was a great free kick although arguably Pickford should have probably done better, re the penalty it was a probably a 50/50 but we’ve seen them given especially with Sterling running into the box at speed.

Overall I think England deserved to go through to the Final and this squad are very strong mentally. Big call from Southgate on Grealish but it was tactical and it worked out pretty much as all his calls have this tournament.Tougher task on Sunday there won’t be many Italian Restaurants open 😊 and the Italian team will be well supported so the atmosphere will be electric.

Haha Guess they had to get England into the final by hook or by crook but England/Italy will be a much better final, Denmark did well considering all they been through but they not really good enough and I suspect it would have been a one sided game should they have qualified against Italy.

Good all round performance but thought the occasion got to Pickford, distribution awful and Saka, the inexperience showed, if picked he will be up against Chellini who will shut him out. Would have liked to have seen Foden or Sancho in wide right, more experience relatively speaking. Thought Maguire , Sterling and Walker outstanding. Mr Mancini will have noted that. Good tactical switch by Southgate late on.

Sean…yes you are right Iwould not have likeD THAT Penalty given against us but that is not to say it a wrong decision, stopping a flying winger these days invites such contact. I think Denmark concentrated on being too physical when there FOOTBALL COULD HAVE BEEN PLAYED, THEY ARE A GOOD SIDE WHEN THEY DO THAT, NO NEED TO TRY AND OUT DO US PHYSICALLY.

I wanted England to win but not controversially , clearly not a penalty though England deserved to go through.what is disappointing is Sterling continuing to say it was a definite penalty even though the whole world including English commentators admitting it was not. For me that shows poor character, he should rather not comment.

I would have been devastated had that pen gone against us and won the game for Denmark but I’d have also been devastated had their free kick from the non-foul and the wall infringement been the goal that won them the game. Both sides were fortunate IMO.
Only one team tried to win the game though after half time and that was England. Denmark wanted penalties. England had 3 times as many shots, both in total and on target. The better side won.

Huge difference between a free kick and a pen Ed mate.
We know Sterling dives. He’s slated for it all the time but this one has gone under the radar as it has benefitted England. The hypocrisy is what I find funny. Mentioned once on sky this morning.
England fully deserved to win. Pen or no pen. They kept going. Looked much fitter and they fully deserve to be in the final.

Kane had one in the second half which for me was a Pen but wasn’t given.
I’ve seen Sterling’s again and he is tripped. Sterling has pace and one form of infringement in the box will send him down. It’s a Pen.
Saka, Sterling and Kane when it mattered delivered. That was the difference for me and for the first time, we get the rub of the green.
The Italians wont be so easy and we’ve really got to be beyond our A Game.

But Sean, why would they go on and on about a penalty when England have just got to their first final since ’66. That’s absolutely massive. Sterling did take a tumble in my opinion but I’m not sure what more can be said about it than that.
The penalty was one of a few bad decisions both ways. Of course there’s a difference between a free kick and a pen but Denmark’s goal had 2 very poor decisions which directly led to a goal. There was no foul and the wall was infringed and it should have been disallowed.
Do you think the Danes are all talking about how their goal shouldn’t have stood this morning? Of course they’re not and nor would they have been if they’d have won with that goal. The only reason nobody is talking about Denmark’s good fortune is because they didn’t win the game from it.

Sean, that’s more than a little unfair the general consensus on here from England fans has been that it was a fortunate penalty no better than 50/50 nobody is trying to justify anything, some times you get them given some times you don’t if you’re going to progress in competitions like this you need a little bit of luck fortunately England got that last night.
They deserved to go through imo based on the totality of the game. Italy will be a much bigger challenge.

I think Brian made the good point that if Spain had had better strikers/finishing, they would have beaten Italy, maybe even quite comfortably after dominating the game. England aren’t quite as good in possession as Spain are, so I don’t think we could quite dominate the game as they did. So you’d expect a more cagey affair between the two sides in the final with a similar air of caution about them. But we do need to better turn the screw in the final third, particularly against a more resolute side in Italy. Sterling has been incredible, but we are in danger of becoming too reliant on him.
