Adlab I wouldn’t put it as simply as more attackers mean more goals; when City has Mancini his first season he played with 2 defensive midfielders every game (Barry and De Jong), 3 if you include Yaya Toure as a DM. They still win the title and scored more goals than anyone else. Mancini did it whilst his defence got used to playing with each other, the second season he exchanged a DM for another attacking midfielder because he knew his defence was a solid unit who knew each other. I have no issue with Rice and Philips giving us a solid midfield in front of what was a new CB pairing (Stones and Mings). I think once they are used to each other maybe we can let loose a little more but I agree with everyone on hear that we eventually want to play to our attacking strengths. I suppose it’s a question of how much time each of us is willing to grant to Southgate to achieve it, and if not Southgate who? Personally I am happy to give him time as I can see progress.

I can’t put my finger on the more technical aspect, but compared to last Friday, what I do see is Flow and Striving to Attack the Box.
Positive so far.
I’m glad Souness isn’t in the Panel for ITV Tonight the guy is more suited to a Courtroom.

Haggis Shaggers game is quite good (only one on my telly so can’t comment on Engerland!), 1-1 is pretty fair, although the Haggis Shaggers might have had a couple more, created some quite decent chances. The Croats don’t look quite at the races, bit like against Engerland if I’m honest.

England through with 7 points and no real scares. Tough game whoever we get from France, Germany or Portugal, think I’d rather take on Portugal as I think their defence is the worst of the 3 but let’s see who we get. We stay at Wembley which should be a positive for the team but it’ll certainly be a tough test. Fingers crossed we actually put one of these early chances in rather than hitting the post again 😂

I just have a feeling Portugal will beat France today. Ronaldo does turn up for the Big Occasion.
I think France will slide down as a result to 3rd, and they’ll play the Netherlands on Sunday. Germany will top the group, so if anything, on Tuesday, England will meet Portugal.

Impossible to second guess who we might play in the round of 16 we’ll just have to wait for the results to decide that tonight.
England haven’t been at their best but topping the Group was achieved without a goal against and hopefully we can remain tight defensively and improve offensively getting Kane scoring again would be a step in the right direction with regards to that.

We do lack goals in these type of matches which raises slight alarm bells in the course of the event stretching into extra time, and you know what next.
None of these ties whoever we face are going to be easy, but that’s the whole nature of the tournament and there’s no avoiding really.
