Yeah, just not engaged with it. The only movement I’m trying to keep up with is transfers, otherwise, it’s Wimbledon I’m looking forward to and Oasis!

29th June 2025 at 6:37 pm #220797Suarez is a reformed man, no longer bites opponents. He uses blood bags nowadays.

1st July 2025 at 6:15 am #220849Our side of the draw too Nil. Next, for Chelsea is Palmeiras in the Quarters and then, if successful, the winners of Fluminense and Al Hilal in the Semi. Not at all easy nor should it be, but in comparison, the other side of the draw stacked with much better class and whichever makes the final very very short odds to win it, and in style.

1st July 2025 at 9:26 am #220854Massive shock but then again to replace those older players City had is impossible. Players they brought in are obviously more than decent but not the same caliber.

1st July 2025 at 9:52 am #220856Those guys deserve the credit and should be taken more seriously as they show equal desire and passion to succeed.
Seemingly very hot conditions. City’s defence not what it used to be reminding me of Liverpool. Rodri will be back but it’s then a massive task for Pep to reformulate a new and a better first 11.

1st July 2025 at 10:32 am #220858From my personal perspective, I don’t care much for the tournament for a number of reasons:
1.) The matches are at horrible times for Europeans so not even bothering to watch group stage matches, etc. at 3am
2.) The atmosphere and general drive from the big clubs is severely lacking, even as seen on highlights: it very much has the feel of a pre-season friendly tournament.
3.) You can tell the clubs aren’t happy about the conditions, etc. which just caused more of a drop in interest._____________________________

1st July 2025 at 10:56 am #220861Heatwave in the UK is intense and we should be given warnings from the MET office accordingly. I believe it’s the same in certain parts of Europe and would suspect the same in the States.
Not so sure SFTD about a pre-season feel as Man City definitely wanted this. It’s like a Cup Tie and the supposed Underdog came out on Top.
I’ve mentioned this at the start but ultimately it’s the matches players are participating post a full season. They don’t need it. It should be more about recovery and switching off away from football.

1st July 2025 at 1:16 pm #220866The world has been warned how many times about human induced climate change but they not prepared to count their losses. So now everyone suffers. This is only the start. The changes they trying or maybe trying to emulate are too little too late.

1st July 2025 at 2:03 pm #220868@Nike19 – hmmm not sure mate: do you think Man City wouldn’t have found a way to win against Al Hilal yesterday if it was a Champions League semi final? Or do you think PSG and Inter, the two best teams in Europe, wouldn’t have found a way to beat Botafogo and Fluminense respectively if it was the Champions League? There may be effort being done to a certain level, but deep down I don’t think the players are fully focused on it; most of them would prefer being on a beach somewhere enjoying their off-season with their families instead of being in the US, whilst it wouldn’t be the case if it was the World Cup or the Champions League they were competing for right now.
Cheers

1st July 2025 at 2:16 pm #220869Rover, the talk about the Ozone Layer etc was taught or brought to our attention at school 35 years ago. Whichever Government has been in Power over that period of time could have really invested and underpinned something. Personally, I don’t agree with the concept of Electric Cars for example.
What I can say from experience since 2018, we’ve pretty much experienced virtually every summer to be in the realms of 30 degrees plus.

1st July 2025 at 2:19 pm #220870Yeah, fair points SFTD. I think the players and Pep’s attitude may have changed as they were in the knockout stages and wanted to try and win a Trophy for their fans. Just maybe underestimated Al-Hilal. I was definitely one of them lol 🙂

3rd July 2025 at 6:01 am #220935Chelsea v Palmeiras 11am Saturday Sydney time – brilliant!! That is also good for the guys as it is an evening kick off so hopefully helps with heat issues. No doubt the heat would come in to play later on in the match and favour the Brazilians. We are blessed the side of the draw we are on and how it panned out. We are now some sort of a hope progressing to a final at which stage I have already conceded defeat. Sort of an empty feeling in that respect BUT the experience of being in this invaluable moving forward.

3rd July 2025 at 7:27 am #220937I will record the game as I normally fall asleep around 2 am, don’t know if I could do the extra mile, probably then watch it in the morning, if they lose want bother simply then delete it.
