When Salah came on yesterday, he had zero impact on the game. The sad reality is, he is unable to take on a player now and his legs have gone.
We seriously need 2 wide players who have pace and can beat the man and are not afraid to go down the line. We just look so short of pace upfront.
Sadly it doesn’t look like Slot is going to change his tactics. At times you had Grav and Mac on the edge of the box and just congested the area. No width whatsoever.
Isak is clearly missing the service he got from the fast wide players at Newcastle.

On the bright side it seemed like Wirtz is getting there, I think our biggest problem is our shape when we don´t have a recognized right back in the team. Konate is getting a lot of hate right now but I can´t really fault him when he has a new right back playing with him every week and there is not much help either from Salah on that side of the pitch. The opposition keeps getting a free run at the defense from there, with nobody pressing the ball, just allowing the situation to unfold and it keeps ending up with us conceding… Then this game we got Jones positioned as a centerback when we concede. The lad is a pretty decent midfielder but he is not a defender and should not be being played as one, why nobody presses the ball is beyond me. We lost our shape, there is not a defender trying to press or anything when the goal happens. They just stand off the player as soon as he gets the ball, sloppy pass from Van Dijk, Mac Allister has no chance of getting the ball, Sunderland play one pass and Van Dijk backs off the player, Jones next to him follows suit and the shot comes. Mac Allister is also guilty of the same error, he just lets the player get on his good foot and have the shot, there is not a single defender making a effort to block the shot or press the player.

btw thx for the name update… I´m pissed off today, I missed the game so I can´t talk about it, I was just watching that goal unfold and it got me mad! I think a few of you have already identified the key problem with our attack, there is no service. I don´t wanna see Gakpo anywhere near the team, I just know what is gonna happen with the ball when he gets it. He is gonna try to cut across on to his better foot and have a low quality shot off target. I miss Diaz so much, he is the kind of player you can just pass the ball to and he will make something happen. It´s unpredictable, he can cut inside easily like Gakpo does every time, he can also dribble down the left flank and put that cross in. It worked wonders for us last season, he was a constant menace every minute he played. Salah has lost the ability to do that as well, he still knows how to do it but he needs to pick his space and right now there is no space for him to work with. Cause Gakpo cuts inside every time! The whole league knows his only move, the world knows he will cut inside on his better foot and every defender in the country down to sunday pub footballer can anticipate it!

@redwarrior.. zero impact??? the game changed on its head.. we dominated the whole half… its not salahs fault that szobozlai couldnt cross a ball to save his life! Salah had 2 men on him each time he got the ball.. the intensity of the game changed against this years surprise package and premier league “darlings”… they scored from a deflection thanks to konates missed header, which van dijk had to sort out cus he was being pressed by sunderlands players! Yes Sunderland had a clean 1v1 at the end.. however the second half performance was wayy better than the first half, and i believe salah was the catalyst.
@notorious… great to have you back where you belong, in amongst the brothers, friends and fellow fans. Been fucking goading you and calling you out for months.. what took you so long????

Asian, truly awful deliveries by Szobo. Had my U19 KEEPERS last night whip dozens of consistently brilliant balls in the box from all wide zones without issue. Why can’t a pro do it. He had time to cross and find his man many times. Utter pap.
