Rumours today: Gittens is close. I have 0 idea about him. But he is young, he fits our transfer profile: young & potential. Have a Champions League experience with Dortmund. And we need a winger after Sancho left. He would also reinforce the English core of the team. I think this is the first time that Chelsea have so many English players who feature regularly.
James,Colwill,Tosin & Chalobah in the back. Palmer,Madueke,Delap, probably Gittens in the attack. Plus Dewsbury Hall,George & Acheampong who featured mostly in cup games last season. With our UCL qualifications: I think we need all of them.
Nkunku was never optimal until now, I think we need to sell him to raise some money. Him + one of the GK probably Petrovic need to be sold. Not sure what the club can do with Mudryk. I think the club will wait out until his suspension finishes and then make decision to sell or to give more opportunities

26th June 2025 at 5:05 am #220501Mixed feelings around regarding Gittens. From the little I have seen of him he looks decent enough. Nkunku does not inspire at all. All season he has looked disinterested for the best part and nothing has changed in our recent Club World Cup adventure. He’s not even close to the quality of player in his German leg of his career. Good to see you being active here already Aindro. This is the next best site for mine. I checked out that other one and it didn’t overly impress.

26th June 2025 at 1:01 pm #220523I don’t think his much of an upgrade than what we got. He just looks better cause he plays in a much easier league, those SD’s don’t have our footballing wisdom.

26th June 2025 at 9:46 pm #220564I am not convinced either with Gittens. But the club & Maresca must have done their due diligence. And we need badly another winger with Mudryk suspended.
It looks that we may have been able to offload Kepa. One less GK. Let’s see if we can also offload Sterling, Disasi, Petrovic, Chukwuemeka & Ugochukwu who aren’t in the squad as well as Nkunku

28th June 2025 at 8:30 pm #220680Delighted to see the gang back together! i think, we need a proven goal scorer and a world class keeper more than any other thing. we have enough creativity in our midfield and wide areas, Gittens for me doesn’t inspire confidence in me, but he is still young and can be coached, if Maresca can work with him the same way he did with Enzo. A new prolific striker and a word class keeper will fire us straight into the title race next season. who could those two be, that is anyone’s guess.
The club is hellbent on signing Gittens, but i’m scared that we will put our eggs in one basket like we did last season when we relied Jackson and Sanchez. Delap is promising young player, but he needs time and patience! and Chelsea is one club that you won’t have these two luxuries. Especially, if you are the main striker, for that reason, i would like us to bite the bullet and get prolific striker like Osimehen, or Gyakores to mentor Delap.
As for Sanchez, it’s clear that he cannot be our number 1 for the coming season, we need an upgrade, whether that is the Milan keeper or another alternative will be seen.

28th June 2025 at 11:44 pm #220745ha ha did you see Sanchez against Benfica. Clumsy as they come but still a good shot stopper. Just when he builds confidence in not only himself but the fan base, he cocks up with a wayward pass out from the back. Liverpool used to have a keeper they nicknamed Calamity James. This guy is the same.

29th June 2025 at 2:32 pm #220786Wise-fan! Really happy to see you again, here. So far I think this is the best forum to replace TT. I tried the other website too TheShed, it’s difficult to follow the threads.
It seems to me that Gittens is wrapped up. Romano confirmed he had a medical already. So Delap & Gittens in.
Out would be Kepa to Arsenal, Chukwuemeka (on-loan). I hope we can slim the squad a bit more. Too many GK. Unwanted players with super big salary like Sterling, Chilwell._____________________________

29th June 2025 at 3:22 pm #220787Saw Sanchez in this tournament is back to his normal nerve wrecking self with his hopeless passing. Some people never learn, surely the coaches must be telling him something or do they just say “nice game Sanchez”. I want be surprised if they do cause that’s the impression I get.

29th June 2025 at 8:12 pm #220801Looks like another deal with Brighton!
Pedro for 50 mil plus.
Does this mean Jackson is going?
We really need to sell a lot of our fringe players.
Also talks with the London mayor about moving?_____________________________

30th June 2025 at 12:07 am #220806Indeed I just read about Joao Pedro. Not impressed at all. Goalscoring record worse than Jackson. And amongst his goals, there were penalties where Jackson did not take penalties.
Gittens I can understand the need, Joao Pedro seems an unnecessary risk to me as we already acquired Delap. Unless as you said: there club intend to sell Jackson, get some profit.
Now Guiu has to go on loan.

30th June 2025 at 7:04 am #220808I don’t see what Pedro offers over the likes of Nkunku – I wouldn’t consider him an upgrade, nor is he an out and out centre forward. Weird signing. And we’re nowhere nearer getting a world class keeper which is pretty crucial if we’re to kick on this season.

30th June 2025 at 2:29 pm #220828Recap from Romano, that I think we can trust. Transfers in so far for attacking players:
1) Liam Delap
2) Estevao
3) Gittens
4) Joao PedroHe indicates that Chelsea are not done yet. I personnally hope we are done. While I am almost 100% sure that we can’t compete for the title as Liverpool, City reinforced really well while all we bought are talents, potentials, I think we should offload players first.
We have so many unwanted players.
And I assume that Kepa and Chukwuemeka are already out.
The ones who are not even in the squad but have a considerably heavy salary: Chilwell, Disasi, Petrovic, Joao Felix, Sterling
The ones who are in the squad but I believe we should sell them: Nkunku, Badiashile
The ones who should be loaned out to gain experience as they surely won’t get too much game time: Slonina or Penders, Essugo or Santos, Guiu, Anselmino, Mamadou Sarr, KellymanWith Joao Pedro joining, I wouldn’t be surprised if the club will try to sell Jackson for a profit. And also probably to sell Chalobah to make money. We cannot buy all the time. We need to be able to sell first in my opinion. Especially those with high salary. The squad is already bloated.

30th June 2025 at 3:38 pm #220835Aindro, Joao Pedro is less of a CF than Jackson is.
I agree mostly with your loan list, but I get a sense that Essugo, Santos and Sarr might be retained. A lot of games this season and with the CL you can’t afford to send out the 2nd XI as we did for most of the Conference league.

30th June 2025 at 3:58 pm #220834Happy to be back among fellow Blues after Teamtalk’s closure. Looking at our recent transfer activity, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed. Once again the club seems to be prioritizing potential over proven quality. While I hope to be proven wrong, these signings don’t inspire much confidence. we needed game changers and experienced additions to elevate the squad, not more long term projects. Players like Gyökeres, Osimhen, or Mike Maignan are available and could have brought leadership and immediate impact, yet we’re targeting names with unproven top level consistency. I know little about Jamie Gittens. As for J. Pedro, while talented doesn’t offer more than what we already have in Nicolas Jackson especially considering similar disciplinary concerns. On top of that, Maresca’s tactical setup worries me; our build up play looks overly cautious, predictable and lacking in creative spark. Instead of attacking with intent, players seem scared and would pass back or sideways.

30th June 2025 at 7:24 pm #220842Zizi good to see you here! Just FYI, I was posting on TeamTalk before and just joined this site last week. For posters already here on FootyDebate: Enchanté. Nice to meet you all. I don’t think there’s any chance for big name signing. Chelsea under this owner, they keyword is: young & potential. I think the players they signed mostly under 24 years old. Probably Robert Sanchez was an exception and also Tosin but he came on a free transfer.
Ed de Goey (what a keeper he was, I was a fan, as I was a GK for my university in my youth and he was Chelsea GK!!): agreed that Joao Pedro is less than Jackson. But we just bought him, we won’t sell him straight away for sure. So I deducted that the club may have planned to sell Jackson as we heard interests from Juventus. I try to be positive though, Jackson wasted so many chances. To the point of really frustrating to watch him. Imagine Joao Pedro receiving the same number of chances than Jackson. Is it possible that he would score more goals than Jackson??
Rumours today, Galatasaray registered interests on Petrovic. It looks logical to me as they just lost their 1st GK Muslera. Hopefully we’ll be able to sell him or at least to loan him. If we want a new GK to replace Sanchez, we will need to offload some of the GKs we have first.

30th June 2025 at 10:32 pm #220844I stand to be proven wrong, and I will humbly accept that should it happen. However, I don’t believe Joao Pedro is anywhere near a Chelsea quality. I fail to see how he will benefit us, and paying over £50 million with add-ons feels like a complete mistake. Who is the mole in our board that seems to have a soft spot for Brighton?
It’s clear where our priorities lie, yet we are ignoring the reality. These average players have taken us as far as they can; now we need world-class talent to compete with the best. Remember, we are no longer in the Conference League.

1st July 2025 at 6:26 am #220852Agree 100% with you WF however these owners will not pay the wages to attract the proven quality of the more experienced mature professional that we so badly need to mix in with these guys. Check the attachment and the wages our guys are on. The added quality we need, the owners would not pay the wages for.

1st July 2025 at 2:00 pm #220867Good to see you all again, and thanks Aindro, Wise-fan, Chelsea1967 and the other folks who are here. I still remember how many familiar names we lost when the old forum was turned into Teamtalk.
On Petrovic, why are we even considering selling him? He started as Sanchez’s backup, then earned his spot as number one during the season. After being oddly loaned out, he had a fantastic season and even won Player of the Season at his loan club. He’s proven he’s better than Sanchez and won’t want to sit on the bench again. Unless we’re bringing in someone like Maignan, I’d rather sell Sanchez and keep Petrovic. He’s earned it._____________________________

2nd July 2025 at 3:00 pm #220902I do not follow France L1 anymore. So I do not know how Petrovic played last season. But his games at Chelsea before IMO he wasn’t convincing either. I don’t think he is a better GK than Sanchez.
Joao Pedro is officially Chelsea player. So let’s see if he can deliver better than Jackson. At least we have 3 strikers now + Guiu
