Getting closer so I thought I’d start a summer transfer window thread.
FYI, the Premier League will open its 2026 summer transfer window on June 15 and close on August 31. La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 will start on July 1, while Serie A opens slightly earlier on June 29.
Outs: Salah, Robertson
Ins: Jacquet
Potential Outs: Mac Allister, Jones, Allison, Konate, Gomez, Gakpo, Chiesa, Endo, Elliott, Tsimikas.
Needs: Right back, left back, defensive mid, winger. Centre back if Konate/Gomez buggars off but still think we might get another anyway.Over to you.

7th May 2026 at 6:30 pm #245335All rumours at this stage of course but here’s what I’ve seen recently.
Winger. Diomande seems the most likely and from what know would be a very good purchase. His compatriot Traore also mentioned. Olise is admired but will be very difficult and astronomically expensive.
Goalie. Costa from Porto. I think 26 now. Known for good with the ball at his feet. Remember him being crap vs us mind, but he was young. What would that mean for Marma?
Center back. No idea if any if Konate signs. Please not VdV.
Midfield. A lot of talk about Wharton coming. Good player, would be a MacAllister upgrade. But we need someone strong athletic and defensive also. Looks like Tchouameni might become available?
Right full. Palestra I think from Atalanta been mentioned. Depends on how we want to play. If inverted full back into midfield like Trent did then what about Gray from Spurs?
Coach. With our DoF system the targets will already be identified and if we change coach it won’t matter too much. Doesn’t sit well with me to be honest.

7th May 2026 at 6:59 pm #245337It looks like half the Madrid team will be sold this summer, Mbappe might even be sold as there are currently 34 million signatures asking for that to happen, Madrid fans have turned against him. Tchouameni or Valverde will be sold, with the former having sent the latter to a hospital after a bust up in training. Itยดs a circus over there but we might pick a midfield target from there especially with Macca rumored to be on his way to Madrid.
We got more potential outs such as Ramsay, Alison, Bajcetic, Danns… It seems like Alison will leave for Juventus, he has agreed a contract with them already so the club is not stopping him from leaving.

8th May 2026 at 12:15 am #245351Schlotterbeck has signed a new contract at BVB but would think there’s an exit clause in there somewhere.
Met the lad a couple of times and he’s a big ol’ strapping fella. Quality player.

8th May 2026 at 3:23 pm #245371It looks like Valverde is losing out to Tchouameni, I read the explanation he had for it and then I read the full rumor and that was actually a 2 day feud with them tackling each other hard in training repeatedly until it came to blows. It looks like Valverde was the culprit though and it would not surprise me if that was true considering where he is from, the Uruguyan players are nuts in the head. I love them, I want them, I would still take Nunez here.
If this is true I would expect us to be leading the bid for him as he has been on our radar for so long.
Mbappe is even potentially leaving Madrid, itยดs nuts over there right now, I bet those signatures have reached 40 million by now. I would not take him for any amount though, he is as toxic as they come! I found it actually hilarious that Vini and Mbappe called out Prestianni for racial slurs while he was just calling them for being gay twats. Especially following the subsequent interview with Chilavert. Each to his own but donยดt try to dish it out if you canยดt take the feedback.

8th May 2026 at 3:56 pm #245372First of all, we need to go back to how we were in the Klopp era, when Liverpool were one of the best clubs in the transfer market, where Edwards and after him, Schmadtke, signed incredibly talented, game-changing, title-winning players, and even generational talents (like Salah, Van Dijk, Alisson, Szoboszlai) for the right price, or even far below market price, as in the case of Robbo for a measly ยฃ10m.
No more emotional, irrational overpaying for players like Hughes did with Isak, yet similar, and even more productive, strikers were available at HALF the price – never again, FSG won’t allow it. And not replacing Luis Diaz was another monumental blunder he made.
Time for Hughes to learn from his mistakes, and show us what he can really do.

8th May 2026 at 3:57 pm #245373For me, the main priority is a top winger, to replace Salah, and after that a top defensive midfielder, or controller, in the mould of the superlative Vitinha, to replace Mac Allister.
After that, the appropriate squad players, as Hughes and Slot see fit. And I can see quite a few outgoings to fund the purchases, as Slot stated earlier.
But the most important thing is we need to get it absolutely right in this window with our signings,
if we are to get back to the top in a very competitive PL and CL landscape. Thus, we need to sign game-changers who can make an immediate impact on the team like Ekitike did.Let’s see what happens, and as usual, I expect a few surprises, both in and out.

8th May 2026 at 4:51 pm #245380Yep, time to move Mac-Allister or move him out of the first 11. It will be 3 years for him exactly next month since he signed. He’s lost his way and has played more matches than he should have done due to the lack of investment in developing our squad depth

8th May 2026 at 5:09 pm #245381I think Mac Allister, a world cup and CL winner, would benefit from rotation and a better system. Messi probably would fail with this current setup.

8th May 2026 at 5:34 pm #245382I agree Rob but I dont think he wants to sign another contract, there is only 26-27 months left on his contract, I think he wants another challenge in another country. Of course I’m just speculating but if true I would rather cash in than keep the player. I just want players that wanna play for the club.

8th May 2026 at 8:04 pm #245388Thank You Rob and Bingo. Really do Appreciate your thoughts on the back on mine.
Lol, thought I was on a bit of a Wild Goose-chase with this.
Speaking of which I’m thinking Phil Foden from what I’ve seen on the Web. I like him and his ability. I think once Pep goes, he’ll be ousted.

8th May 2026 at 8:52 pm #245389Mac Allister has been a good servant for Liverpool, but he’s just too slow (unlike Gravenberch and Szoboszla), and we need a big upgrade in midfield.
I’d take big money from a Spanish club, if any offer comes in for him, the slow pace of the game there suits him more.

8th May 2026 at 9:23 pm #245390Gravenberch has been pretty much equally crap this season as MacAllister, almost, no matter how much he tells us he just isn’t a more advanced midfielder. Stick to DM and as we saw last season he was pretty good, but he really hasnt got the skillset further up the pitch.

8th May 2026 at 11:27 pm #245394I just think that quality has dropped of Macca from what we seen and bought of from Brighton with those Expectations or Presumptions.
I’ve always felt with Gravenberch he’s has had big shoes to fill and in at the right place but at the wrong time; thus the point of Endo. But Again, there is something in Retrospect of Clarity for us guys Parallel to Jurgen Klopp and the ‘Committee’ he had to deal with. This is who he brought it.
23/24 was actually the year in which we should have won the Title, but lost our way through all the usual Liverpool stuff and ‘way’. Jurgen was ULTRA CLASS even on the Final Day to Welcome Arne Slot.
We Downed Tools in one of the most important Areas of the Pitch.

9th May 2026 at 1:57 am #245395Gravy might have been crap this season but he is on the longest contract of all players at the club, I actually think he is one of our most gifted midfielders but he needs to step up in the leadership department with that 7 year contract!
He wants to be that advanced midfielder but I donยดt see it yet, I want him to follow in the footsteps of Rijkaard or Seedorf but he needs to show more leadership for that to happen.
If he focused down he could become better than those two but they were freaks of nature and I donยดt see that yet from Gravy.
Remember the legs of Seedorf, just take look at a recent picture of the man and he is fitter than 90% of our squad. At least stronger, the dude actually reminds me of my big bro when competing for the world cross fitness.
I would love it if Gravy reaches his potential but he needs to take control of this locker room! Him and Isak need to have a united front as Isak is on a 6 year contract, we paid 145 million for 6 years of service plus wages.
Itยดs gonna get real pedantic over here with songman claiming we should never have paid for him for the next 5-6 years lol, especially after the striker has scored more than a century in the league for us.

9th May 2026 at 6:31 am #245398Player quality can drop or increase over time that’s normal, but everyone in the squad bar Szoboszlai (and I think his early form has dipped) are far worse this season because of how they are being asked to play.
Is MacAllister crap? Or Jones? Or Gravenberch? No, not if used correctly. MacAllister cannot be left as the deepest midfielder, Gravenberch shouldn’t be anywhere near the oppositions penalty box and Jones has never been a right back despite his good intentions and effort.
One player that has strength and presence, a bit of bite, can pass the ball but most of all knows where to be at the right time could make all the difference. A dedicated DM. But Slot doesn’t play with one, or if a player is more defensive they are still expected to wonder forward with no one covering.
“One to watch is Rc Lens Mamadou Sangarรฉ”
Heard this also but know nothing about the player. Also heard Froholdt from Porto but think he is more of a B2B midfielder with good energy and strong in the tackle.
Think MacAllister goes and Wharton replaces him. An upgrade yes but not really a solution.

9th May 2026 at 7:10 am #245400As I’ve noted here in recent games, Mac Allister, Gravenberch and Wirtz, have been very poor in their passing, giving the ball away easily, can’t even make a simple pass. In fact in some games each of them give away the ball at least 5 times in just 10 or 20 mins, and this of course can lead to dangerous opportunities for our opponents.
This has got absolutely nothing to do with coaching or Slot, if you can’t do the basics like complete a simple pass, the players simply simply need to get their act together.
Compare them to the likes of Vitinha or Bernado Silva, maestros on the ball who rarely give it away, and this is one type of midfielder I definitely want us to sign this summer, as they also have the magic and versatility to unlock difficult opponents.
