Song, you seem to be in the minority here and Hughes/Edwards definitely didn’t take your call or they wouldn’t have been mucking about trying to sign Guehi.
Either way, I hope your blind optimism turns out to be reality for all our sakes, even if, as a side effect, it further fuels your outlandish and misguided pronouncements!

1st September 2025 at 8:47 pm #226071Van Dijk unfortunately for his well-being cannot be expected to play 50 plus or so matches. I don’t think irrespective of a World Cup year Guehi would have minded too much about the possibility of him being rotated.
It’s a real shame above all.
Not gonna lie, the morning kick off brilliantly, so a little sense of perspective on how well we have done finally landing Isak. I just love the British Transfer Record Free Slogan attached to Liverpool.

1st September 2025 at 8:57 pm #226073Very interesting observation Mikus. Wissa definitely one example. It thought it was ultimately Player Power. Shame legally, Liverpool couldn’t be protected. Parish I’m sure wanted it.
On another note, we have to be careful not to over tinker the back line, and might have to start using the experience of Gomez. Integrating Leoni we’ll have to be careful with.
I think this is one of the reasons Pep at City is struggling with his backline; albeit Stones, far too many changes; it seems question marks on Ake and Akanji who were solid 2/3 seasons ago.

1st September 2025 at 9:06 pm #226074Wissa yes… but maybe also Isak?
I agree and disagree with Songman. 4 CBs is enough, if we need more we have others or youth to fill in. But if Guehi is coming to replace Konate then it makes sense.
On his day Konate is the better defender, but he can be brilliant one game and terrible the next. He also seems to take time after an injury to get back in the rythem and as we all know he’s not shy of the treatment table.
I can live we 4 CBs and lose Konate for free next summer and get Guehi then. Or maybe there’s another, better option by then?

Yes indeed, I am in the minority, like I was when I bet a huge sum on Slot winning us the league last season, at great odds, after the Ipswich first game, and won (well documented over here) when the majority thought otherwise. And I gave my reasons why I did tbis.
As for calling me outlandish, if you can’t handle someone else’s opinion, don’t resort to making a fool of yourself with emotional, childish outbursts.
There will be no problem, we will survive with 4 CBs, and can even buy one in Jan if required.

1st September 2025 at 9:12 pm #226078When this newer team properly gels and clicks into gear, we’ll be something else. Really looking forward to Wirtz and Isak, plus Ekitike. What an exciting time above all to be a Liverpool Supporter; feels like a squad we had in the late 80s in the days of signing Barnes and Beardsley.

1st September 2025 at 9:18 pm #226081threeps, Konaté is a better defender than Guehi, and the stats over the last 4 or 5 years absolutely prove it (check WhoScored) and they are about the same age.
Plus Konaté is 4 inches taller, which is important for a CB.

1st September 2025 at 10:31 pm #226089Correction, I made the bet on Slot winning us the league after we beat United 3-0 in pre-season last year (not after the Ipswich first game as I stated earlier).
It was fairly obvious that something special was happening.

1st September 2025 at 11:15 pm #226092Gotta say I am disappointed Guehi didn’t sign, if it was one out of Isak and Guehi then I would have preferred Guehi.
All this drama with Isak has left a sour note on the signing, also saw the Newcastle statement for Isak and if just shows how unprofessional this all was where he deliversed the first trophy and basically they say we got the money and he has p1ss3d off

1st September 2025 at 11:54 pm #226095Guehi has beaten Konate, consistently, on ground duels won and clearances made. Where Konate has trumped Guehi is in aerial duels, tackles etc mainly down to obviously being bigger and having the better defences. Last season tho, despite Konate securing the PL (best stat of all) Guehi beat him in all categories bar aerial duels.
I also see Guehi as a better leader, communicator and more dependable/durable.

2nd September 2025 at 12:42 am #226098I know you boys are over the moon, With the frosties tigers “GRREEEEAATTTT” window, but to be honest weve fallen over on the final hurdle… we should have signed another top defender and a bonus left winger to add the cherry on top!
So far the players signed need To settle in and get going! Not been overly blown away by anybody or the football being played the past 3 games, yet still top of the table and kept most of the first team from last year! On top of that weve tried balancing the books with some good sales.
Onwards and upwards, lets see in the next few months if it truly was a great window or a mannunited/chelsea style window from the past few seasons!

2nd September 2025 at 7:25 am #226105Window closed. 9/10 from me. Cb would have made it a 10.
Reality vs my prediction from beginning of the window:
Out: taa (done), gomez (Quansah instead)), tsimikas (done)
In: Kerkezc (done), Hato (Leoni), Huijsen (lost that one), Frimpong (done)
Contract extensions: Vvd (done), Konate (come on now!)Midfield:
Endo out (stays), perhaps Morton (done) too
Stiller in (not even close), move up Nyoni/McConnell (not looking likely, perhaps Nyoni in cups?)
Attack
Nunez (done), Jota (❤️), Chiesa (stays – Diaz instead) out
Simons (got even better with Wirtz!!), Alvarez in (Isak instead). doak back (out).Elliott out and Ekitike in – missed those completely.
Not too off, but didn’t nail everything.

2nd September 2025 at 8:56 am #226123Its a great window. Squad looks strong but like the majority on here, not if but when konate and gomez get injured we will need to rely on an 18 year old
In fairness he is highly rated and in tye italy squad.,
Guhei is an excellent player but we move on.
Defend as a unit like we did on sunday then we be fine.
Hopefully isak doesnt get injured to much.
As threeps says, owners have played a stormer and are unreal owners. Always have been. Club is superbly run.
Moonster and his sources were well well off with their predictions
Hopefully everyone settles in and can okay like they can. Nothing is ever guaranteed with new signings no matter how much they cost.

2nd September 2025 at 11:20 am #226141Will be interesting to see how far from game tempo Isak is? Might see him in some part action during the internationals. I have double feelings about the whole deal. Excitement (as a swede perhaps even more than just the fact we bought a great nr 9), a little sad over the way the whole thing was conducted, I would rather see players act like Guehi. But we know very little about the details – the role of agents, broken promises etc. Also hard time accepting the fee, both from a point of player value (is he really that good?) and the pure amount as in it’s getting harder and harder to enjoy football with the amount of money that is thrown on sales, salaries, agents.
No left winger must mean that Rio will be given some more minutes and that Ekitike will be used as a back up there aswell. He might not be a left winger, but think Slot et al see qualities that he could cover that position.
Final thing, sad to see Elliot go. But on the other hand, since watching “Doubters to Believers” I said to myself that Elliot will never make it until he breaks away from his dad and stand on his own feet, playing football for himself and not to please his dad.

2nd September 2025 at 2:21 pm #226156RedGlen, I think on the left we have Gakpo, Ekitike, Writz and Rio so seem well covered. Like you I hope Elliot smashes it
