New PSR accounting date starts tomorrow, so Wirtz, Kerkez and Frimpong were part of the previous one. So sell a few from tomorrow onwards and we can probably afford a 150m striker.

30th June 2025 at 12:55 pm #220824Thanks 3ps. Very interesting indeed on timing of our signings and the date of new PSR. Huge Credit to the team in recruitment making this happen.
Elliot showcased himself well over the weekend and in the shopwindow for potential suitors. 50 mil would be a top fetch. If we can sell Nunez too, then I’d say we’ve done pretty well for ourselves all round. Cheers

30th June 2025 at 2:33 pm #220829PSR bullet points:
July 1st begins the new football financial year.
Teams that need to balance the books for last season (and to plan for next) will likely want to offload players before July 1.
Premier League clubs are allowed to lose £105m over a three-year period, with allowable deductions for investment in infrastructure, the academy, the womens team and community initiatives.
Last season we only brought in Chiesa/Mama but paid amortisation costs of 114.5m (fees paid for previous transfers).
The club published an annual pre-tax loss of £57 million in May 2024, nearly £50 million more than they lost in the previous year.
However, our overall revenue rose by £20 million to £614 million during the same period, and the club’s commercial revenue increased by £36 million to £308 million.
That came after a year without Champions League football. With the team back in Europe’s top-tier competition, their prize money will have increased significantly.
As I published previously, Liverpool are estimated to have earned £83.7 million from their Champions League run to the last 16.
In addition, the club should be paid about £176 million by the Premier League based on a combination of regular payments, prize money and broadcast appearances.
Factoring such a profit into the three-year cycle from 2022/23 to 2024/25, assuming similar allowable deductions, would see that net positive PSR position grow even further, up to some £100m before taking into account the £105m figure that is permitted.
In simple terms, that means we could spend approximately another £200m this summer (on top of Wirtz etc.) and still be playing by the rules, if they were to then lay off the spending for the next two windows.
I’m thinking Fenway will want to offload a few players now before adding further to the squad (Darwin, Robbo/Kostas, Elliott. Chiesa). That’s my hunch.
Hope this helps (in some way).

30th June 2025 at 3:45 pm #220837Appreciate that Rob, Thank You. Slowly absorbing and getting my head around the information, but seems all really positive and hopeful.
Hope we can sell what we would like to sell and go in big for one more Mega-Signing.

30th June 2025 at 6:20 pm #220840According to Plettenberg, Bayern have added Diaz to their LW shortlist and that Liverpool are looking for a top class LW as well as a striker.
Think the Bayern thing was known for a couple of weeks but there’s an ‘ITK’ saying it now.

30th June 2025 at 6:31 pm #220841I’ve seen multiple feeds on twitter about Isak making it clear he wants to leave. Whether or not this is true, his head seemingly has been turned.
Is it Liverpool he wants to join or will it be a matter of ‘first come first serve’?

1st July 2025 at 4:54 pm #220874Isak would be an excellent signing, though I don’t think it will happen.

1st July 2025 at 6:11 pm #220876The thing about the Isak rumours is that they’re still there and if anything they’re getting stronger, slowly. If this was a no surely we’d know about it now?
D day I think will be if Newcatle offer a new contract as rumoured and how Isak responds. If he’s a 150m striker surely he wants to be paid like a 150m striker no? Newcastle can’t offer that (not withstanding the wealth of their owners, their relative low revenue will prohibit them). We can, and also challenge for the top honours that an elite 26 year old will want straight away.

2nd July 2025 at 11:02 am #220885Is Guehi the answer?
Well, he’s fairly low price given he’s an English intl. But think 45£ is max given the contract situation. 30?
My worries otherwise, he’s only 182cm.
Won just 2 aerials last season.
Pass completion of just 84%.
Konate 194, 90% pass compl, 2.4 aerial.
Van dijk 195, 92%, 3.2 aerials.
Quansah 190, 92%, 0.5 aerials. Is he good enough for anything but third choice? 🤷♂️

2nd July 2025 at 11:24 am #220886No way is Liverpool going into the new season with just two starting centre-backs, Van Dijk and Konaté (31 league apps last season), plus one-injury-prone squad CB Gomez, who had just 9 apps in the league last season.
Now that Quansah has gone, I can see us signing at least one top centre-back to fill the void.
To me, Guehi is not the answer but Slot and Hughes may think otherwise. Basically Guehi is good enough to be a regular starter at almost any team in the league, except Liverpool of course (as Konaté is better than him), and he will demand this in any transfer, plus he is a bit too short for a centre-back.

2nd July 2025 at 11:34 am #220892Our net spend is currently £137m.
I expect it to come down considerably with some big sales of players who are surplus to requirements, most notably Elliott and some of Núñez, Jota, Robbo, Chiesa.

2nd July 2025 at 1:03 pm #220896Interesting appointment, Valero was last at Liverpool in 2010.
Xavi Valero has returned as head of first-team goalkeeper coaching, with both Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel departing.
“Rafael Benítez appointed Valero head goalkeeping coach of Liverpool in July 2007.He was praised by Liverpool striker Fernando Torres as one of the biggest reasons for his goals, during training, he instructed the players on how goalkeepers in future games react to one-on-one situations.”

2nd July 2025 at 2:46 pm #220900I think I’d find a place for him in one of the front 3 positions. I think we already need to be thinking about starting to phase Salah out. I know he still had great stats last season but he for me he also faded in and out in a lot of games.

2nd July 2025 at 3:53 pm #220905But he doesn’t play there. He’s a no 10 that can drift to the left. A bit like Wirtz. He’s a good player but there’s no room for him and better targets.
