30th July 2025 at 11:14 pm #222727The point isn’t to go north of £250mil. It’s not a target.
That’s how much the players deemed surplus to requirements or those that want to leave can fetch.Money that’s brought in is reinvested into the squad.
It also helps keep us well below PSR which allows us to buy players such as Wirtz and Isak._____________________________

31st July 2025 at 12:03 am #222729So Ginger, when i mentioned a similar statement a few weeks back, you were quick to point out in a patronising and condescending manner about my “fire sale” statement, not knowing transfers, and whatever.. and me reminding you off probably monster and bingo (could be even pinez 😕)
Secondly you keep banging on with this “diaz has had 2 offers” well what were the offers? Was it an increase of £20 on top of his previous wage plus a 1 year extension? As far as i know reports were saying they wanted to sort his future after the window shut(septmeber/october).
Why would diaz want to leave? Weve just signed wirtz, ekitike, isak coming, kerkez to help him on the wing… on top of salah, vvd extending their contracts, most 1st team players have stayed.. thats a team that has continuity and could go places, win the champions league and allow for some wonderful football! Its not like hes going to a hotter climate, a country that matches his language and culture or a stronger league for that matter!

31st July 2025 at 7:40 am #222738There was/is no fire sale.
A fire sale is when assets are sold on the cheap when the business is in financial difficulty. That doesn’t apply to Liverpool.Paul Joyce reported that we have had 2 offers to Diaz turned down. He’s very reputable. I have no further details of the offers but obviously it wasn’t what his agent wanted.
Diaz would want to leave to maximise his earning potential in his final playing years while still playing for a top team in Europe. Reportedly his contract is for 4yrs with the option for another, wages reported as 260-270mil euro a week. That would be very attractive for someone approaching 29.

31st July 2025 at 8:22 am #222742Nil, for PSR reasons actual players swaps are now pretty much non existent. Nunez could go in a separate deal and whilst Newcastle have shown interest it’s Wissa and Muniz from Fulham they are after as it now seems Sesko is off to try and save the sinking ship at Old Traford. Newcastle need two strikers as Wilson has already left. Could see DCL joining them on a free as back up however.
Anyone heard what’s happening with CP and Diomande? Once they get someone in it will increase the chances of getting Guehi although Palace can be a tricky negotiator.

31st July 2025 at 8:25 am #222743Yeah Ginger read similar about his wages at Bayern. They can afford to throw big wages at players and they were desperate for a winger after missing out on several targets. For Diaz at his age that is a great contract, plus he can now prove himself in a new league too.

31st July 2025 at 8:59 am #222744I thought dionande to palace was done ages ago threeps?
Are we going to be able to shift nunez? No interest and so surprised no one has come in for elliot.

31st July 2025 at 9:07 am #222745Yea Threeps they missed out on 2 other targets and needed one in due to the Musiala injury.
They do tend to pay big wages. Even what Diaz is getting only makes him their 7th or 8th top earner.
TBF Liverpool has done very well outta that deal for a player approaching 29._____________________________

31st July 2025 at 12:35 pm #222774Sean, the only news from reliable sources about Diomande is about 2 weeks old, gone very quiet since.
I think if Palace lower their demands for Guehi then we will agree in principle with them but he will only sign once Palace have an agreement for Diomande. Not sure if Diomande has already agreed terms with Palace, but usually this sort of thing is already agreed in principle in private.

1st August 2025 at 12:53 pm #222830Looks like Isak is going to happen, but considering how overhyped and how injury-prone he is,
Liverpool had better get the best deal possible for him, or just walk away.I stand by my statement, that Gyökeres is the better striker, but if Isak does join us, I
don’t mind being proved wrong. And while I support ALL Liverpool players (sometimes too much), Isak is such a prima donna, with an inflated ego and bad attitude, totally opposite to all our main players. For example if Real Madrid came calling, he would treat Liverpool in the same shabby way as he has done with Newcastle.

Why?

1st August 2025 at 1:33 pm #222836Ye threeps, going by Melissa reddy, isak told newcastle last year that last season would be his last. If thats the truth then the club have reneged on their verbal agreement. Never heard anything abiut isak been a problem
Is there any chance of this ending up like saurez? He wanted to move but we wouldnt sell. He trained with youngsters then was brought back into the group and sold a year later.

1st August 2025 at 1:44 pm #222838Sean, it’s just a matter of time. NUFC need one or two strikers lined up. Our first offer rejected but that is nearly always the case in most walks of life never mind elite level football. Our 2nd offer could be accepted but only in principle until Newcastle (finally!) sign someone. Did read if they accept a 60 upfront, 60 next year and 20 in add ons it frees up their PSR situation that they can go and spend about 400m or so. Dont ask me how!
What Isak is doing is no worse than what Virgil did at Southampton and he is now our captain and a bonafide Liverpool legend. With reports of Newcastle going back on their word towards Isak and other squad members regarding promises it’s actually more warranted than what Virgil did. Songman is just talking rubbish to fuel his agenda against a player.

1st August 2025 at 2:52 pm #222843A second Isak bid imminent. Wonder what amount/terms would make it happen? Gonna be a bumpy ride this one.
As for comparing him to Gyokores. Nah. I rate Gyokores, seems a strong player and I’ll think he’ll do well at Arsenal, but unproven at Premier League level having plied his trade at the likes of Coventry and most recently Sporting Lisbon, a member of the most bang average league in the world – The Portuguese Primeira League and their best three teams (Sporting, Benfica and Porto) all did next to tap all in Europe last season.

1st August 2025 at 3:09 pm #222845At this stage I think it’s just the PR dance being carried out between the clubs.
Newcastle don’t want to look like they’re giving in too easy so obviously rejected the first bid.
They’re highly aware that Isak wants to leave and to leave to Liverpool.
I think things could have went smoother if Newc had got in some of their targets but they are all over the place at the minute with that.
I dont think they have a clear play how they want to move forward and don’t have a director of football/someone to exclusively deal with transfers and it’s hurting them._____________________________
