Continuation from the TeamTalk forum.
Kerkez soon to be confirmed?
Napoli want Nunez? (yes please!)
Chiesa to follow him there? (yes please, pointless signing)
Who will be our centre back signing now that the always fraught and worried looking Quansah has signed for BL? Guehi? He seems keen. We really could do with three top CB’s and Guehi fits the bill for me. Inacio also on the market?
Will we sign another forward? One would think so with Nunez and Chiesa likely leaving and Jota absolutely WILL pick up his usual injuries this coming season. We need a proper 9.
I also think we’ll see a ‘surprise’ signing too.
Good to kick start this new era here at Footydebate. Exciting!

25th June 2025 at 7:42 pm #220487After Chiesa goes perhaps we get a young versatile attacker in? Malik Fofana is a name I’ve heard a little this summer with regards to Liverpool links and his club Lyon have just been relegated for debts I think. Found this video that highlights some of his attributes, sounds like a very progressive ball carrier.
Edit: also just wanted to show you new guys how easy it is to embed videos into posts, just copy their link.

25th June 2025 at 10:32 pm #220498How do you solve a problem like Harvey Elliott? Sometimes you can’t see him as a regular starter for LFC because a.) he’s not better than players who are starting ahead of him and b.) he never commands a particular position in Slot’s formation. But then you see him put in such a match-winning performance against Netherlands and score 2 great goals with either foot – and you think we’ve just got to hang on to him.

26th June 2025 at 9:08 am #220505Seems The Echo has been reading my post about Fofana π€£
Regarding Isak, don’t rule it out. If Newcastle say 200m then his agent will say then pay him like a 200m player, so 200k+ a week. Apparently Newcastle will offer him a new deal to fend off the likes of Liverpool and make him their top earner which is 150k, an improvement of 20k. If he goes to 200k (which I doubt will be offered by them) then the current top earners will be moaning for the same.
He’s at an age where he might be thinking it’s time to compete for the top trophies and at Newcastle they just aren’t going to do that. They might get but how long will that take and has Isak got that long left at the top to wait? It’s a short career as we’re often reminded.

26th June 2025 at 9:16 am #220507The big indication with Isak is if he does get offered a new contract as expected is whether he signs or not. If he says no then brace yourselves for another record bid from us.

26th June 2025 at 12:06 pm #220518Welcome to Milos Kerkez, at only 21 he’s already played two seasons in the Premier League,
and is an established Hungarian international with 23 apps. And he’s got excellent stats:
1. He started all 38 PL games last season, one of only 6 outfield players to do so (including Salah).
2. Rarely injured, with only one injury in the PL, missing just 4 games.
3. Great output last season, for a left-back, of 2 goals and 5 assists. He’s actually one of the best left-backs in the league, hence his nomination for the
PFA Young Player of the Year award. Time for him, with his pace, strength and output,
to take his game up to a new level at Liverpool, and lead us to greater heights._____________________________

26th June 2025 at 1:43 pm #220527Harvey Elliott, he can be a regular starter at several PL, or even top European, clubs, amassing 40 to 50 apps every seasons. And at only 22, he doesn’t have the time to waste by sitting on the bench.
Elliott simply doesn’t have the quality to be a regular starter at Liverpool, say like Szoboszlai, so he’s most likely to leave the club, possibly with a buy-back clause, like Quansah.

26th June 2025 at 2:58 pm #220535Atletico Madrid now moved on from Robertson? In talks with Rueggeri apparently. Who will be the LB along with Kerkez at the start of the season? I believe Tsmikas is surplus but not heard any rumours.

26th June 2025 at 5:42 pm #220554Liverpool’s dressing room next season is going to be on fire, with possibly the biggest upheaval in the Premier League era, as all the new signings will bring in increased competition, chemistry and synergy.
For a start, Frimpong and Wirtz are already good mates from Leverkusen. Then Kerkez who is good friends with his fellow countryman Szoboszzlai, no to mention another Hungarian, Pecsi, who will keep them both company.
Plus Frimpong should gel well with his fellow African, Konate, playing next to him in defence, both are high-energy, extroverts with a keen sense of humour.
Plus Mamardashvili will put intense pressure on Alisson, and keep him on his toes. Alisson had better not get injured for too long, if he can avoid it.
And we still haven’t finished our transfer business yet, with numerous outgoings expected, so I’d say a revolution is in place.

26th June 2025 at 6:04 pm #220557All good points Songman. Although, competition for places, there’s most importantly no rivalry or any friction and that there is a sound relationship amongst the group. I can see a good connection between Mamardashvili and Alisson.
Just as I mentioned before, one more special player would really give us the extra fizz, but this group now is one of the best I’ve seen since the very late 80s and our 1990 Title Winning Team. There is quality everywhere.
I hope we can get a rejuvenated Diogo Jota if he is staying with us and the Firepower returns. Definitely a good enough outfit to defend the Title.

26th June 2025 at 6:05 pm #220558The interviews I’ve seen so far show Frimpong as a great person. Very happy, very smiley, good sense of humour. Think he does a lot of work for charity also. Certainly seems to pass the “No dickheads in the dressing room” criteria that Virgil mentioned recently.

26th June 2025 at 6:35 pm #220560Yeah, can’t sense any of that 3ps; no real egos; just good hardworking lads which obviously is what we want and players fighting for each other on the pitch and good dressing room camaraderie.

26th June 2025 at 7:51 pm #220561Nike, that’s 3 nailed-on starters signed already, and as you say, just one more special player would be the icing on the cake. Quansah has to be replaced, and if NΓΊΓ±ez departs, that will leave an opening upfront. These positions look like where our next signing will be.
As for Jota, he’s declined rapidly in the last season, gained too much weight and lost whatever pace he used to have. I’d sell him to generate funds, or keep him as a squad player as the last resort.
Am now looking forward to our outgoings, and how much money we can recoup.

26th June 2025 at 8:26 pm #220563Me too Songman on the focus on selling to recoup money spent and get the players we don’t need any longer off our Payroll.
Naturally, not nice to have to sell players who have been good guys, but for everybody’s best interests, it’s better for them to find new clubs.
Yeah, will be interesting to see what happens with both Jota and Nunez – hope we get a bit of a wedge for him.
