Hopefully the upcoming WC will help us – those players should be desperate to leave for regular first team football if they are to have any chance of making national squads

We have to cut our cloth accordingly, we need so many players and we can’t possibly pay £75m+ for all of them. Someone like him, with his pedigree at that price is a no brainer, especially if our first choice (who was at least twice as expensive) has decided to go elsewhere.
Seems pointless to pay more for him just to keep some fans happy.
Absolute bargain, and the sort of transfer that is required if we are to avoid the common overpayment claims.
No doubt he will end up elsewhere and people will moan we didn’t sign him.

@deeutd – Torre would be a regular starter in our team and is better than Mainoo… 5m for him should have been a no-brainer, even with a 50% sell on clause. Yeah, Calvert-Lewin makes sense. Even cheaper than Toney. Worrying though that these names, all has beens, along with the likes of Luiz are coming thick and fast. Whatever happened to the policy of buying players under a certain age?

So you can see just the general posts, just the city posts or all posts.

Calvert-Lewin wouldn’t be the worst idea. He’s available on a free and would give us something different up front. At the moment when we’re in desperate need of a goal, Maguire seems to be the go to option, when I’d rather we put an actual striker up there. Granted his injury record isn’t great, but then neither was Michael Owen’s. Just whilst we get the financial side of things in order, we may just have to take a punt on signings like this. If he goes on to score us the winner against City, that’ll do!

Spot on Alfie. That’s at least how it’s made most sense to have it previously. If the site continues to grow, there may be a need to separate the club forums a bit more. But yeah, easy enough for now to just bookmark the club forum you want to go to and only see posts for your own club. Links can be found in the menu under Club Forums
