Hey Lads! Same SympathyForTheDevils from the TT forum here =)
Re. Cunha and Mbuemo; whilst the stats will show that they might well be good signings, given our history with big signings, I’m not very confident that they’ll work out. I’d have been happier to have spent the money on 7 or 8 young, hungry and physical players and change the whole mentality of the first team squad. The only positions I would have gone for some experience would be the goalkeeper (Ter Stegen/Martinez) and Striker (Osimhen) but other than that, for the winger spots, young and exciting would have been fine.

26th June 2025 at 10:43 am #220511No idea if you newbies consider this a YooUtd thread only or not…. 🙂
Anyway, not much yet from the Spuds…
Danso confirmed, certainly our best CB behind Cuti & Micky, take that for 20m
Tel confirmed, still a bit raw, show’s a bit of potential, reckon if we sell him, we’d get close to what we paid for him considering his age… could have done worse…
Japanese kid (CB) who’s name I’ve forgot… rated highly by those who know him it seems, suggesting at 5m it’s a “bargin”… wait until I see him kick a ball first.
Eze… a lot of clickbait, wouldn’t say no for sure… not sure about the 68m part though…
Our biggest problem was injuries last season, keeping them all fit would be like getting 6 new signings anwyay, but would like a nice shiny new midfielder like this Xavi Simons fella…
Then I think it’s a question of replacing who might be going… long ways for the window to go yet!

26th June 2025 at 12:29 pm #220521United have not signed Mbeuemo (yet) so I don’t know what you are talking about there…

26th June 2025 at 1:39 pm #220526Ferguson is still only 20. His potential is limitless. Been liked with a move to Celtic. What he needs more than anything is regular first team football. Not sure he’ll ever be world class but I’m confident he’ll become a good PL striker
I wouldn’t fully rule out Hojlund either. It’s not gonna work out at United anytime soon but if we don’t get any decent offers for him, we should loan him out to a club in Netherlands or Germany to regain his mojo

26th June 2025 at 1:48 pm #220528The weird thing about Hojlund is that his first season wasn’t great but definitely showed some glimpses of potential but this season was just pure disaster, his form which was patchy at best has just gone off a cliff, if not for the Europa League he’d have barely anything in the bank. It’s hard to see where he’ll rediscover what little form he’s shown since joinging but if we put all our eggs in one top striker, we’ll have no choice but to keep him as a backup because unless Chido Obi starts coming good, and fast, we can’t afford to let him go.

26th June 2025 at 2:27 pm #220531Crazy the affect confidence has on a player
Deffo need an experienced CF. Gyökeres would be the dream. Mateta far from ideal but affordable and can immediately come in (has mufc made it over here yet?) and do a job
If Hojlund is not sold, one of him/ Obi needs loaned out
Ironically, I think Cunha is a perfect no 10 to play behind Hojlund. Cunha often comes deep, leaving space in that left channel for Hojlund to run into

26th June 2025 at 2:47 pm #220532Really not getting the fuss about this Gyokeres fella… puts the late bloomer in late bloomer for sure…
I’d be having major reservations about whether he could cut it in the Prem… got Hojlund MKII all over it.

26th June 2025 at 3:51 pm #220539Hey Chucky, I would describe this as a United Transfers thread – it is in the United section
I’ve started a new general transfers thread in the general section which should work better

26th June 2025 at 4:06 pm #220541To be honest, cyber chum, never figured out the “sections” as such… if a thread was started by fans of a specific club for a specific club, I tend to avoid them… stick to the “general” threads… don’t even know what thread I’m posting in half the time!

26th June 2025 at 6:35 pm #220559I know everyone says we’re looking at Gyökeres or Sesko, I think Vlahovic is still a good bet. Probably won’t cost more than €25m and is capable of leading the line. Had a poor season this year but really the system Motta played at Juve didn’t suit him at all

26th June 2025 at 10:11 pm #220568Bryan Mbeumo looking closer. Wouldn’t have mentioned him as a player to sign at the start of the window, but can see why they want harder working players in the team.
Be interesting to see if they can get him and a striker in. I thought we’d go for cheaper options and more players, we are still short in too many areas.
Need to offload a few, and that seems as difficult to do as usual.

26th June 2025 at 10:14 pm #220569Vlahovic wouldn’t be a bad shout, that’s the sort of player I thought we would go for.

26th June 2025 at 10:57 pm #220575Can’t see it been Sesko, Killy, he seems nailed on for Arsenal
Vlahovic would need to take a big pay cut. Think he’s currently highest wage earner in Serie A. Ideally he’d only come on loan but if it meant getting rid of Sancho, it would have to be considered

27th June 2025 at 6:51 am #220579Eze or Mbeuno? For me Eze is the better player.
Similar prices by the sounds of things too.
If we bring in either I am assuming Diallo will be at right wing back next season. Dalot was awful last year. He is the sort of player we should be able to offload though.

27th June 2025 at 6:58 am #220576Sancho should never play for us again! That cvvnt has done more harm than good to our club.

27th June 2025 at 8:10 am #220592Alfie is that you?! Been a long time mate, how’s it going?
Not sure about Eze to be honest, seems very inconsistent to me. One week looks world class and then you don’t see him for a few weeks. In terms of last season Mbeumo was much better in front of goal and providing assists. And they cost the same. I think Amorim needs players now who can perform at a high level next season not someone who might be good in a couple of year’s time._____________________________

27th June 2025 at 8:50 am #220595Yes, it’s me mate. How’s things with you?
Yes, Eze can be a bit hit and miss, I think he is better than Mbeuno when they are both on top form, but I think Mbeuno is that hard working ten, can drift out wide, can run behind the striker and will work all day, player that Amorim needs in the formation.
Get one signed and move on to the next one, and offload a few in the process. Too many players stealing a living there at the moment.
