Picking up from the TT thread. We’re not managing to shift any of the deadwood and it looks like the scousers won’t get what they wanted for Nunez. Sickener considering they refused £60m for him in January.
In other news, Lyon have been relegated to Ligue 2. I think that Malik Fofana and/or Thiago Almada are two players we should be looking at possibly picking up on the cheap, possibly as squad players and Fofana as one with the potential to improve

Got a bad feeling that Delap would have been a great signing for us! FFS!!

He’d be in the bag if we’d beaten Spurs and had CL football next season. I’m not sure he’s what we need right now though, he’s still a bit young. I think we need an older, more experienced striker tbh

Not convinced by Delap. He had scored 4 league goals this calendar year (one was a penalty) with one assist. Better than Rasmus, sure, but not the guy to fire in the goals to get you to Champion’s League places.

Let’s hope so, because he looks like a beast and a goal machine in the making to me!!

He was just bang average. I’ve seen a lot of players that we’ve missed out on fail at other clubs. Fingers crossed Delap is shorter one

Ferguson has been massively hampered by injuries. It was hoped that Potter could reignite things at West Ham but it never happened. He looks decent when playing for Ireland but doesn’t seem to have convinced Hurzeler at Brighton. He’s fit now, maybe with a decent preseason he might improve and get a better run at the first team. Welbeck can’t reproduce another season like last season surely? Flash in the pan even by his standards.

Maybe the Premier league is a little beyond Ferguson. He’d probably excel in the Dutch or Scottish leagues like Troy Parrott or Adam Idah.

I don’t think it is beyond him but he needs a sustained period of fitness and a run of games. He’s fast, strong, has a good eye for goal. However, like all strikers he needs confidence and for his manager to have confidence in him, neither of which are running high at the moment

Either way, I don’t think we’ll be in for him this summer. Next year if he proves himself again

The 3 best players in the PL last season were Salah, Cunha and Mbeumo and we signed 2 of them for the same combined fee Liverpool paid for Wirtz. This reminds me of when Liverpool built their attack with Salah and Mane. The Cunha and Mbeumo partnership will replicate that success. Theres still more work to do but this is already shaping up to be our best transfer window in years. Instead of gambling on overpriced risks from Europe, we signing proven PL players. Finally, we look like we have a clear vision for the next 3 years. The rebuild is real.

@happyhurling: I agree with @BoredRedPanda. I am not convinced by Liam Delap either. We need a proven, reliable goalscorer, not a project. Gyokeres would be ideal signing. He already knows Amorim system and his goal record speaks for itself. If we cant get him, I go for Mateta at around £45m. Hes a strong and PL proven option who could deliver immediately. The other alternatives are either too expensive (like Osimhen) or too raw (like Ekiteke). But I am certain we will sign a striker this summer.

The concern with Gyokeres is that he didn’t exactly light it up at Brighton or Coventry, although he’s done extremely well at Sporting there are questions over whether he can make the step up in the PL

I dont want to judge Gyokeres solely based on his time at Brighton. He was young when he joined them and some players need time to adapt before reaching their peak. His spell at Coventry was far from a failure. 38 goals in 91 appearances is a solid return and Sporting even broke their transfer record to sign him. Of course, no signing is guaranteed to succeed but I much rather Utd take a chance on Gyokeres than gamble on young talents like Delap or Ekitike. Right now, Gyokeres is among the best strikers in the world and hes as close to a sure thing to fix our goal scoring problems.

@thedevil Forrest’s from the Portuguese league can be very hit and miss, Darwin Nuñez at Liverpool João Félix aren’t exactly lighting the league up. I watched a YouTube video of Gyökeres’s goals and half were penalties or shit defending. He won’t get that much freedom in the Premier League.

On another note, Dominic Calvert Lewin on a free could be a decent shout as a backup striker. He’s better than Rasmus, and Maguire, up front

Like we gave to Michael Owen? Might not be a bad shout, we need to concentrate on a first choice marksman first though and then consider backups
