I’m absolutely ecstatic with that late winner! To take all three points against a side as strong as Liverpool, especially with the injuries we’ve been dealing with, is massive. Full credit to the boys and to the manager for seeing it through. A special word for Estevao just 18 years old and showing incredible maturity on the biggest stage. Performances like that make you believe again. and Maresca’s red card makes it 4 straight games and 6 out of last 8 games where discipline was an issue.but that discussion is for another time.

Wow never expected that after Liverpool equalised but hey lots of excitement despite some poor passing from both sides, it was hectic and noone knew who was going to score next but you could sense something would happen. Injuries mounting too, thankfully its international weekend.

admittedly I again never liked the starting 11 but credit to Maresca he made attacking changes and it paid off. Having said that we didn’t really have any defenders left except for Hato in the squad. A much needed win so vital to keep our challenge going for that 4th position.

Oh yeah!! Didn’t expect to win after Enzo hit the post, Gittens & Estevao denied by their GK. And the injuries: Acheampong, Badiashile…. What’s wrong with our medical department?? But as Zizi said: let’s discuss that for another time. Red cards, injuries …

Let’s enjoy & celebrate the victory. Estevao, a joy to watch. Can’t wait to see Estevao playing together with Cole Palmer & Delap. I posted several times Maresca had to use Guiu. He is by no means good or a finished product. All he can do is run & fight. But sometimes we need this kind of players. Just run, press, fight.

I might be wrong, but I think Maresca was forced into attacking because he had no defenders left. If we d had a full bench of defenders, I’m sure he would’ve gone defensive and tried to settle for a point after they equalized. In a way, it’s a blessing we were forced to attack and it actually worked in our favor.

Happy days!! Most teams once Liverpool equalised would batten down the hatches and try and hold on for a draw but not this Chelsea. Maybe the injuries to the 2 centre backs created a total change in mindset. With so much upheaval and readjustment the guys thought, what the hell, we won’t survive it so lets go for it. Toward the end there we were the better side and the more likely. Fantastic effort and well deserved win topped off by the winner by the man with huge X factor, Estevao. How exciting that was to witness albeit I was watching a replay hours after the final whistle. Yes Zizi, read your post after I’d created and posted this and you 100% nailed it. I just added this comment to my post!! Great minds think alike!!! Chelsea1967 here in my new name and happy to be back lads 🙂

Chelsea1967, really sorry to learn that you “lost” the username. But the most important thing is that you are now back amongst us, despite under a different name.

I wanted to underline the importance of Guiu and then captain James in my previous post. But one player from Chelsea who would walk in literally any team in the world: Caicedo. What a player. We did pay a lot of money for him. But I think he’s worth every penny. He is everywhere on the pitch, he wins balls for the team and this season he scores as well. A complete midfielder.

Yes mate Caicedo is the best of his kind. The complete mid fielder that brings off some amazing tackles with pin point accuracy to win the ball in dangerous situations. Rarely does he commit a foul in some last gasp moments. Add to that his ability to score the odd worldy and fire inch perfect passes into our attacking space and he is invaluable. A gem. Let’s hope Lavia can stay fit and get plenty of football happening because, he too, is world class.

Chelsea1967, hear hear! 😂 Absolutely spot on. We’ve got plenty of attacking talent, and I honestly believe we could’ve taken points from those last three league games if we’d gone for it instead of trying to shut up shop. Hopefully, Maresca’s learned his lesson and adjusts his approach going forward. The international break comes at a good time as our inter backline is out injured.

Zizi last 2 league matches the red cards killed the game for us. I think our GK & defenders should by now have learnt that it would be better not to commit that goalscoring offence. They may score but we would still play with 11 players. A poor decision by Sanchez but especially Chalobah cost us points. Sanchez it was kinda 50-50 ball but Chalobah clearly came from behind as he was already late.

Just on Sanchez out of the multiple times he kicked or threw the ball out we lost it more than enough times, he puts our players under so much pressure with his lack of vision. I do rate him though as a shot stopper but unfortunately thats not enough. Zizi i was thinking the same Maresca had no defenders left so he was forced to bring on forwards and they made the difference. So i think we were all correct when we all heavily criticised his changes against united and Brighton. Hope he can understand that going forward but we all know how stubborn managers can be.

Just read that Reece James has withdrawn from England squad. He may be injured but I suspect this is more to protect him, a precaution as he’s played a lot games recently for Chelsea. Caicedo isn’t called to Ecuador squad, Joao Pedro isn’t called to Brazil squad. So these 3 players at least can rest and recover during these 2 weeks of international break. The bummer is only Enzo, who was called for Argentina’s friendly. But he is not as injury prone as others, so I am hoping to see him coming back unscathed.

Will Cole Palmer be available after the international break? I am hoping so, as we saw him Saturday hugging Estevao. I hope that his injury isn’t that bad. Andrey Santos’injury isn’t supposed to be bad. Fofana’s injury is concussion, so he should be back avaialble. And injuries to Acheampong and Badiashile, assistant coach Caballero already confirmed that it’s for precaution.

So probably, only players injured after the international break: Delap (November),Essugo (early 2026) & Colwill(probably out for the season). We should be in a pretty good shape in term of injuries after this international break !!!!

Aindro, fingers crossed we get everyone back fit after the break, it’s been a brutal run with injuries. I’m a bit worried about Palmer though, his injury seems more serious than they’re letting on and there are whispers he might even need surgery. Hopefully that’s not the case, because we really miss his creativity when he’s out. That Forest game on the 18th is going to be tricky. They’ve been poor lately, but that’s exactly the kind of situation where, as my brother (a proper scouse) loves to remind me, “Charity FC” shows up and hands out points to struggling sides. 😅 I really hope he’s wrong this time . we need to stay ruthless and not let another struggling team get back on track at our expense once again.

Zizi while I agree that Palmer’s case looks worrying as he seems to have been carrying the same injuries for awhile, but I think it’s best not to speculate for now. While we miss his creativity, his goals, and we know that it’s not the same team without him: I think when Delap will be back, Joao Pedro can play no:10. Maresca will need to adapt without Palmer in case he needs the surgery.

Let’s wait and see, in two weeks, who will come back ready and who will still be on the sidelines. I don’t like our position in the table as we lost points against Brighton, Palace and Brentford, but we are 2 points adrift City and 3 points adrift Spurs/Bournemouth (3rd place). So it’s not too bad, considering. And we stole points from Liverpool by beating them. It’s still a very early stage. And so far, apart Arsenal that look better than last season, Liverpool don’t look solid, City don’t look that solid either, Man Utd either.

With all the injuries we have, why not call up Disasi, He might not be world-class, but he’s experienced and would definitely want to prove a point. Plus, it could be a good marketing opportunity ahead of the January window. Just a thought.

I think Disasi is an option. But for now, it seems to me that Badiashile is ok, the substitution was just precaution. And Acheampong was called to England U21, so he should be ok. Fofana’s absent was due to concussion so he also should be available for the next match. Not sure for how many matches Chalobah is suspended?

A not so good news: I read that while Cole Palmer avoids surgery, he would be absent until November to heal the tear. So not October. He won’t then be available after this international break.
