Good performance, enjoyed it. Sterling can now look forward to scoring more for England with the monkey off his back. Downside is still no creativity in midfield. Trippier and Gomez not as good as expected.

Adlab – I know I’m a trifle biased, but I think you’re wrong about Gomez, and so do the papers and the so-called experts. I thought he had an excellent and looked more assured than Maguire in all honesty. I do think with Stones, Maguire and Gomez, the centre back position is looking pretty good for a few years now.

Overall we did have some luck, quite a lot in fact, but that first half was as good as I’ve seen England for many years. Really enjoyed the game. As I said during the game, it wasn’t played like a friendly. Even Carra likened the game to a Champions league match in its intensity

Everybody was looking out for their own boys, and we all looked at them through rose-tinted glasses. To be honest, I think luck played a huge part in the, from Pickford’s headbutt save in the 3rd minute onwards. On any other day I don’t think the score would have been 3-2 Engerland.

I don’t think, if we’re to be honest, anybody played a REAL blinder, Sterling finally found his scoring boots, Kane harrased and had a couple of assits, Rashford used his pace to his advantage, things we watch them do week-in, week-out in the Prem.

The midfield tried to move the ball quicker than perhaps we’re used to seeing, Dier does what is says on the tin (mainly a pain in the ass for the oppo’s), both Dinksy Winksy and Barkley showed signs of decency in between giving the ball away, with more than a few hospital passes.

Defence, looked a little bit stretched at times when it was a back-four, and played most of the game with the appropriate level of experience that the four of them had, rode their luck on a few occasions, and benefited greatly from a Spanish team not playing 100% as we all know they can.

It was a great game to watch and a great result, with Engerland finally showing signs of what they can do in flashes given half the chance playing a more direct game of football than Spain expected. Let’s see if they can repeated the performance against Croatia in the next “Call It Want You Want, Nobody Cares Cup)”… but I think it was simply the stars aligning for once…

Without doubt, a good win, I am pleased for Sterling and Rashford, my only moan was we still lack a quality player in the middle, aka Silva, and I think we still lack an assured keeper, despite his heroics at shot stopping, to me I think we need to try others as well, useing his feet he cannot do!!!! Think Southgate got everything just about right on the night, well done to all

I think you are right Chuky, but take the “IF’s” out maybes out of it and Spain got what they deserved and we took advantage. The result is what matters, however, like you, I think these Competitions are made for “the suits” to keep them in a job and free lunches at fans expense

Gooseman… I’m can be whatever I want to be, my Nan said so!!

Double B… as good as WE were, I think Spain were a little under par… don’t matter, 3 points are 3 points, and WE’VE got a great future, haven’t WE?

Chuky, I see enough young, next generation players coming through that would say, yes, we have a great future. I also see UK clubs having to give youngsters more of a chance to develop in the right way. The only problem I see is our youngsters may well be cash driven and become spoilt. This is less likely to happen in other parts of the world. I would like to be wrong with this view but when you see youngsters with just an odd game experience and others with none and the salaries they pull in I can only see them going downhill faster than uphill. A handful only will make it. If you look at our current team and considering the shortage of really top class players amongst them it is depressing. Maybe and hopefully in 5 years things may change. The Spanish match showed me an excellent work ethic but lacked class in Goal, creativivity and a natural leader. I know….I am hard to please…but if we want to be a consistently top team we have to do better, after all 1966 was a wonderful one season happening and nothing since. I am ready to be torn apart now but it is just my opinion

Hell of a header from Griezman last night in the France v Germany game.
