Could have put this in the general feedback but that hasn’t been touched for over 4 years so was worried it would be missed.
As we have now a greater number of posters would it be a good idea to have sub forums like other football forums?
Example:
General football
Non football general (this one for Nil especially!)
Then either all the PL teams or those with active members.Wouldnt go too complicated, just a simple top level sub forum. And if in a sub forum and you create a new thread it automatically defaults to that forum as the category.
Thoughts? Especially @editor

14th July 2025 at 1:03 pm #221523Yeah, get where you coming from 3ps and inclined to agree.
Firstly from my POV, it’s been really good to have more arrivals and activity crossing over from the other site when it felt like a point of only a handful of posters pitching in irrespective or close-season etc.
I think it’s more of an interface-arrangement of a Index page with all the clubs listed, and thereafter a General Page and a Non-Football Page. Lots of threads made with now a little bit more traffic, means they could be missed for whatever reason.
Just my thoughts all in all and of course, see what Ed and others think as well.

14th July 2025 at 1:17 pm #221525You should note itโs really not that hard to navigate and that this site is done by the ed at a cost both monetary and in time
Itโs not teamralk and they never did anythingBe grateful for what you have
Also promotes a bit more inter fan stuff thatโs more welcome too_____________________________

14th July 2025 at 1:40 pm #221527Steveo, it’s merely a suggestion, wind your neck back in. I appreciate what Ed has done and if it’s too much work/time then he can tell me, but I don’t need you to come across telling me to be grateful.

14th July 2025 at 1:45 pm #221528Can’t believe I’m going to say it, but I agree with the Gooner… it’s not ‘that’ complicated and I tend to stay away from club-specific threads as there are some silly-willys who get there knickers in a knot if a non-Essex Boy posts on an Essex Boy thread for example…
Sweedy has enough problems on his plate (or not, I have no idea really, could be Elon Musk in disguise), but I don’t think he needs to sweat over “newbie” complaints…
Sweedy does an excellent and under appriciatted job as it is (and you do, cyber chum!)

14th July 2025 at 4:53 pm #221540How very presumptuous!
My concern is when the season is in full flow and with the number of Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool fans now posting, some posts could disappear on to page two within a day or two.

14th July 2025 at 4:57 pm #221541I have been thinking about that also Threeps now with the sudden influx of posters. You mean something like this page donโt you? https://www.footydebate.com/forum-index/
If so, then it already exists. Itโs just that I made a decision that the home page of the site is the overall collection of all topics in order of freshness. It was done to try to retain the club forums whilst encouraging cross-club debate simply due to a low number of posters. My only worry with doing it that way is that thereโs probably only the Liverpool, Utd and maybe Chelsea ones which would be kept alive and the rest might just die. Because Iโd worry that few would post on the general football forum as youโd actively have to go into that sub forum to find the posts, as opposed to now, where you see all posts by default. You still always have the option of only seeing your own club posts by using the links in the link I posted above. For example, if youโre only interested in Liverpool posts, you could easily just bookmark https://www.footydebate.com/community/forum/liverpool/
Iโll definitely take the idea on board and see how it develops as the season gets going

14th July 2025 at 5:32 pm #221543Bullocks to any website that puts the Goonies at the top of any list…
(I’d go with General… and then the Goonies would be in their usual 2nd place… ๐ )

14th July 2025 at 8:03 pm #221553I remember seeing that page Ed, and yes was thinking something like that. But as you said best to see how it goes and you’re right the forum is represented mainly by only 3 teams.
One to keep an eye on maybe as the season unfolds.
Note, my favorite aspect of this forum is the inter-club talk and I’m in no way advocating a change to that.

14th July 2025 at 9:49 pm #221560Ed, Great Explanation mate. That’s what my reply to 3ps’ thoughts/suggestions alluded to but as you rightly explain in further, the first bookmark means one would miss the activity in order or Timestamp.
If persons aren’t frequently visiting the site for whatever reason, then they may easily miss something (they may want to comment on).
I think above all, this has probably been raised in good spirits on an eyebrow raised in light of the sudden growth and turnover which of course is what we want as a Site Subscribers.
Cheers

25th July 2025 at 11:44 am #222272Iโve now made a change so there are 20 topics per page so thereโs less risk of topics falling off the first page. Hopefully will be better
