Real Madrid are currently top of La Liga with an excellent record, 11 wins and 1 loss to Atletico. In the champions league they are currently 100% with 3 wins from 3, scoring 8 and conceding just once.
Real Madrid are in very good shape, confident, scoring well, but not invincible, so tomorrow’s game should present opportunities if we can exploit their weaknesses.
Real Madrid have the psychological edge in this fixture historically, especially in the big moments (Champions League knockout phases) but Liverpool have shown they can beat them.
Real Madrid arrive with momentum and in strong domestic form, we will need to match that intensity. Our recent head-to-head success is limited, so breaking that trend would be significant. Any defensive lapses by Real Madrid (they do concede) could be exploited by our attacking threats.
Real Madridโs big-match experience may count. We should aim to keep them off-balance, ideally make it high-tempo. From a psychological standpoint, an early goal might unsettle Real. conversely, we must not concede early.
Mama, Bradley, Konate, VVD, Robbo, Grav, Szobo, Wirtz, Gakpo, Ekitike and Mo is my guess.
I’m going to put my neck on line the go for a 3-1 win.
Did I do a good job Rob?

3rd November 2025 at 5:58 pm #229800Keep it simple, play the same, settled, experienced team from Saturday. With a few more subs, this time.
And with our raucous Anfield crowd, no reason why we cannot win this game.ย Now let’s do it.
Mamardashvili
Bradley Konatรฉ Van Dijk Robbo
Gravenberch Mac Allister
Salah Szoboszlai Gakpo
Ekitike_____________________________

3rd November 2025 at 6:16 pm #229805Thieving buggar Harry! LOL. No probs my end.
Finally ended the rot last year of 15 years not beating these buggars with a rather fine 2-0 win with strikes from Mac Allister and Gakpo (assists from our fullbacks that night, Bradley and Robbo).
I can’t see any other line-up than the one Song posted.
No clue either of the result. Madrid are doing mighty fine under Alonso with their only blip a 5-2 twatting at Atl. Madrid but other than they’ve won the rest of the matches in all comps (13).
This lot have got scorers in every dept and I can’t see anything other than an away win. I can’t. Stop Bellingham and Mbappe and we’ve a chance but then there’s Vini, Diaz, Mastanuono, Guler and Rodrygo (should have gone for him in the summer – fucked up there) et al to contend with!
Liverpool 1 Real Madrid 3.

3rd November 2025 at 6:22 pm #229807I think Mastantuono has been ruled out for this. I’m banking on real thinking he same as you Rob and getting complacent. Need a Klopp style blitz.

3rd November 2025 at 6:37 pm #229808Madrid will come and try play football which may actually help us.
The line up Slot picks will be interesting after Saturday nights game and then away to City this Sunday. Good thing is thereโs 5 days between Madrid and City.
The international break then comes along.
I wouldnโt be surprised if he tried to โflogโ the same lads for all 3 games with no/minimal changes to the starting XI.Few interesting decisions for him.
Can Robbo start all 3 after starting midweek last week also?
Does Wirtz get a start in any of these 2?Personally Iโd be inclined to go the same team again, with the 5 day break until City and then reassess in the 48hrs leading into City.
Good to see Jones back in training today.

3rd November 2025 at 7:10 pm #229809Dont think robbo will start but if fit id start him.
No place for writz in our best team by looks of it
Which brings me to ask again why did we buy him if he doesnt make the starting 11 for bog games.

3rd November 2025 at 8:00 pm #229812Left mid/attack Sean, as he often did and does for Leverkusen and Germany respectively. I wouldn’t mess with the 10, Szobo there for the press (although he’s not a natural 10) with Mac and Grav behind. Mo, Ekitike filling in the other spots.

3rd November 2025 at 8:13 pm #229813Sean, the reason Wirtz doesn’t start in certain games is because he’s not ready yet, still adjusting to how Liverpool play, let alone moving to a new country at such a young age.
Same thing happened with Robbo and Fabinho in the past, as Klopp eased them in slowly.

3rd November 2025 at 8:27 pm #229815Ok when Writz is ready were does he start songman?
Rob says on the left but i dont seevslot dropping gakpo and writz has only played a few mins on left for us
Also Writz would push inside if on theeft but We play an under lapping left full so were does the width come from?
You knew robbo would eventually come in at left back and fabhono as a 6
If writz was ready tomorrow songman were does he start?
Im genuinely just wondering as at the moment ready or notโฆslot cant fit him in the team.

3rd November 2025 at 8:38 pm #229817Thatโs on Slot Sean.
He also needs to recognise where Kerkezโs strengths lie also, which we seen last season. As mentioned previously, I donโt think Slots been great at integrating these players into the team.

3rd November 2025 at 8:45 pm #229818Ye i totally agree its all on slot ginger chum but im not even sure he knows now?
A specific plan was laid out to writz of eerey he would play etc but i think that might have changed
Everton, chelsea, utd and villa has seen last season midfield start and thats with macca not fully fit.
I just dont see were he fits in if we continue tactics with left full back and gakpo and he doesnt get into the team when regular 3 midfield are available
Interesting to see how it works out.

3rd November 2025 at 9:28 pm #229819“Ok when Writz is ready were does he start songman?”
I would play him in his usual position, No. 10, in the centre, why complicate things? Slot may have other ideas though.

3rd November 2025 at 9:51 pm #229823I think Wirtz has the potential to displace Gakpo. It’s not going to easy for him, nor should it be at Liverpool to be a regular starter. Not many people scoffed at the fee for Wirtz though, Gakpo isn’t getting us anything like that if we sell him. I’m not hating on Cody at all, but having top competition for places has to be a good thing, or else we’re moaning about a massive drop off when the first xi aren’t playing. Give Wirtz time, he will come good, I’m sure of it.

4th November 2025 at 3:11 am #229827Sean, the team that started and won the CL final, that was the first time they ever started in that particular XI.
We have a squad of players. We have some fantastic players.
Itโs up to Slot now how to tweak that to find the best combination which suits the particular game. Some of that will depend on injury/form.

4th November 2025 at 5:38 am #229828Sean, I get your concerns ad I’ve voiced the same for a while and no one on here has answered the question. Always “enough games to go around”.
But you don’t spend 116m on a squad player for which his game times currently suggests. Likewise you don’t spend 125m on Isak or even 79m on Ekitike without a plan on how to play them in your first choice 11. You could even say you’d only buy a 40m fullback if you intended to play to his obvious strengths.
On paper we had a great summer transfer window but now it seems there’s actually no plan on how to incorporate all these expensive signings. Seems like Hughes went out with little input from Slot. The club will say otherwise, but that’s how it seems.
Ginger will mention how Slot sold Wirtz the idea of playing him as a no 10, and I’ve heard Wirtz himself say that. But I bet he wasn’t sold on the idea of being a rotation player, of not aqually fitting in the first choice 11.
You can still be a no 10 but play left sided, everyone gets hung up when I mention “instead of Gakpo” thinking it’s like for like, and to me that is a solution. Or a diamond formation with Wirtz behind Isak and Ekitike (salah and Gakpo dropped) but Slot has shown nothing to suggest that is in his thoughts.

4th November 2025 at 8:00 am #229832Ye ginger i understand that but im saying he doesnt get in our beat team now by the looks of it. Pushing szobo to right full to fit him aswell be mad. I hope we dont see that tonight ad we need szobo in midfield
There will be injuries and rotation but he was 116m player. Surely you think the plan was he would be one of the 1st on tye team sheet. One start in 4. Subbed many times and starting 60% of league games.
Interesting to see if he starts tonight. Threeps your spot on. Hes 116m player and it looks like there is no plan for him but lets wait and see.
Harry, we startrd macca, grav, szobo and writz once sll season at palace in midfield and we got tore apart in a 4-2-2-2 formation. I agree in for gakpo but thats pointless if we continue these tactics of kerkes tucking inside. Width should come from kerkes and writz pushing on
