Why does Slot persist with Kerkez basically playing midfield when he’s clearly better wider?

Why does he keep instructing him to do this when our build up is so slow due to midfield congestion?

We are on top and playing ok football. The biggest issues are 1.the lack of movement so we are always looking for a killer ball and 2. The wingers don’t offer anything at all.

The ball is continually being tried to be passed through the congested central area for some reason.

Kerkez has the space to pull wide but clearly being instructed not to.
This would provide width and open up the congested central area.

And a big part as to why Wirtz struggles in games.
