Mikus, i didnt seem to understand the total need for dismantling the attack, we were top scorers last year, with hard working players! But i remember a point when people were worried we were short in defence with gomez injured, quanshah lacking confidence and konate having his fitness and disciplinary issues! Weve still got 5 weeks to get at least 1 centreback but i would be happier with 2!

Once you have gravenberch, mac, szobo endo and wirtz the midfield would be solid and sorted!

I love elliot and curtis but unfortunately when theyre playing the midfield is easily bypassed… same with tyler, mcconnell and nyoni! Just lack the presence and steel with them atm!

Didn’t get a chance to watch this albeit the online highlights. Don’t know what to make of it and whether to read into it as the score states.

I think this month has felt quite long as we’re reaching the end. Still our thoughts with the sad loss of Diogo. And of course it goes without saying, recognition to both clubs holding a special tribute today in Hong Kong.

Alisson Becker has left Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Tokyo and will not feature against Yokohama F Marinos on Wednesday. Personal matter apparently, not sure what.

Some things are out of our hands, some more than others.
Jotas devastating death.
Diaz wanting to leave.
I don’t think anyone can be surprised by Nunez and Chiesa being moved on.

I very much think we’ll be bringing in at least one new centreback.

Sorry ginger i disagree! We could have extended diazs contract a lot sooner(one of our best players last season), diogos death was obviously not in the plans but even then there were rumours of him being put on the window and he was notably not used much in the last few months of the season! Nunez, when played works hard for the team, lacking confidence but still has the attributes and the attitude to overcome some of those shortcomings!

Cheisa i understand he was hardly used and if the manager sold him as he was not in the plans due to fitness or whatever.. perfectly fine! But 4 out of the 6 players will be gone by the end of this window… only gakpo(who sometimes is powder puff in imposing himself) and salah who is in his twilight years!

We HAVE to bring a defender in, it has to happen! But if nunez and cheisa are sold we will then either have to rely on doak and ngomoah to make the numbers(which could turn into the new “sterlings” on both wings hopefully) or when shit hits the fan we will all have a massive moan about letting certain players leave and the usual blah de blah!

We made 2 offers to Diaz which were turned down.
He was 28 with 2yrs left in his contract.
He left to fulfil his earning potential for the few years he had left of his playing career. I’ve no issue with that and best of luck to him.

Jota was starting and playing well until he got the broken rib and punctured lung. I don’t think he was going anywhere this summer.

2 players gone. We didn’t dismantle the attack.

No one can be at all surprised by Nunez and Chiesa leaving if/when they do.

Pitch reportedly terrible in Yokohama.
Important to remember that they are half way through their season while we are still in pre season mode.

Just tuned in from finishing my gardening and getting a bit of lunch. I honestly could feel that goal coming. Curtis Jones isn’t the type of guy even tracking back to get a tackle in. Our guys stood in their positions but were ball watching.

Wirtz levels as I type and Curtis actually does well in the build up. 1-1!!!!

I am going to enjoy Wirtz!! 😀

Like I said on the other thread I’d be happy with 5 forwards for the 3 attacking positions with the 6th being a youth prospect.
Seemingly Ngomuha has been making his case for that position in pre season.

Well Done Reds, that’s a response and a half from being a goal down. Pitch isn’t great and lagging and I though players would be grinded down, but they upped their levels and changes too were needed and made rightly.

Never seen those 2 kids unleashed but wow, what a performance and work ethic. Pure kudos with the attitude and application.

Elliot did well coming on and is still regarded in my eyes as a good squad player as with Kostas. Good to be on a positive as we edge into the month of August.

Guys, we have a different dimension on the left with just gutsy ambition and dribbling purpose. Shooting on sight too as often before it was one pass too many and majority of play coming more from the right and Salah.

We should cope well in spite the loss of Diaz. Hopefully we can bring in the ‘million-dollar-man’ signing and hopefully one more defender.
