Agree with you Mac, maybe not the Salah bit. He’s not worth the wages he’s on and he will be declining due to age but the drop off cannot just be that.

I think most of us know that Slots tactics are stiffeling the team but that cannot influence Salah’s lack of basic skills and effort right? I’m not sure. I think he looks dejected in this team and that has a big negative influence on the way he plays. If he was enjoying the style I’m sure he’d be back on it and racking up the goals and assists. Also think he is missing the aggression in the front line that Diaz and even Nunez provided. He was never that sort of player himself and Gakpo is about as aggressive and dominant as a 6 week old kitten.

Time to move him on? Depends on the coach for next season. But it’s our last chance in summer to get some money from him and I’m sure the Saudi’s would still pay a pretty penny for him. Removing those wages would be good too.

Just to agree with 3ps, Salah scored 4 goals in 4 matches at AFCON this winter. I too think the tactics are the problem – for Mo and for the rest of the team, who have largely lost the zip of the last few seasons.

Agree with 3ps as well as a rounded view re Salah. There’s clearly variables affecting his output from a goals and assists point of view.

I’ve mentioned this before on the point of him no longer surrounded by certain cluster of players that complimented him in the past. He’s had to work with new players and yes, the change of our style to what we do less off one thing and more of the other.

With that in mind, in fairness to Salah, this realistically should be his final season with the Reds.
