Personally I like to go with the eye test rather than heatmaps, or in depth analysis from members on a forum, and on Sunday I actually forgot he was playing in the 2nd half!

Thing is we all know what it was like with Mane on that side. He was brilliant in both directions. Diaz was not a patch on Mane and I think some on here have elevated their judgement on him without remembering he was ineffective a lot of the time, but at least he was a hard worker.

But this is Slot’s liverpool and I think Gakpo epitomises the style he wants. Slow and silky, never busting a lung, but when it works it looks nice to the purist. I think Diaz would struggle big time with this style, maybe even Mane too.

I think the difference would be a winger like Mane or Diaz, both won a title for us while being key player for us. Diaz is currently outperforming every forward we have, he is in his prime right now, take a look at what he looked like when he joined us and compare it to a recent picture of him. He was so skinny when he arrived, I actually had my doubts about him but he has really worked on his physical form. 19 goals and 15 assists this season. How is Gakpo doing?

Most fans affiliated with the game and the Prem know of Gakpo’s style. It was good and welcoming and he did bring goals from cutting inside. I’m just not sure why the tools have downed on him.

You have to be prepared to exercise through all of those areas, even the the by-line. He was definitely a different player I saw under Klopp.

He performed while being rotated with a better player than himself in the first team. This is the only season where he has been ever present in the team. He knows he can stand there, do nothing and still be picked in the first eleven now. There is no competition for him to thrive under and every team in the league has found out how to defend against him. For example do you think he will ever score a goal while pressing the keeper like Mane did did on multiple occasions?

I do like Yan Diomande, that is a naturally gifted winger that can play both flanks, it makes no difference to him whether he is playing on the left or right he will reach that byline. Transfermarkt got him on 18 games on the right wing and 9 goals, plus 6 assists. 12 on the left wing and 2 goals and 1 assist. He seems to me to have both a right and left foot. Plus the lad really wants the move to us, proven at international level as well with 9 caps and 3 goals, mostly on the left wing.

Apparently Diomande’s father is a big Liverpool fan and the player himself has declared he admires us. However I think there is an issue with 3rd party ownership or image rights or something.

Incidently, it was Malik Forfana last year who was the talk of the town and apparently only wanted to sign for us, think he’s having a bit of a medioce season for Lyon.

3ps no player is having a mediocre season for Lyon, they went on a winning run for 13 games or something just recently.

He is far from the finished product though, he only has 35 games in total, in 3 seasons and only 19 years old but being clutch player for the international side says something about him while being played out of position for the national team.

He is a right winger actually, I thought he mainly played on the left but I was wrong about that, got a good cross in him and not afraid of beating his marker repeatedly.

He got work rate, he got the ability to get to the byline from either wing, he can cut inside as well, I can name his better foot but he scores and assists with his left foot as well and his goals are from all over the pitch.

We got goals from outside the box, we got goals with his left foot and right foot, not many headers though. I would actually compare him to Mane in style of play, let´s not forget that when Mane arrived he played on the right wing before Salah arrived. Just that one season and he was our player of the season.

Bingo, I know we argue about player roles a fair bit and again I need to correct you, Fofana is a right footed left attacker. He has 12 appearancs and only 2 goals and 1 assist this season. He’s been out with an ankle sprain since the end of October.

How the heck is that anything but a mediocre season?!

Are you actually talking about Diomande? Who plays for RB Leipzig. Not Lyon. In Germany. Not France. He can play either wing but is right footed predominatly.

Do you ever read posts Bingo or just skip through? I made a comment about Fofana being the talk of last season like Diomande is this season but hasn’t done much at all. So all the talk about Diomamde might turn out similar to the Fofana talk last season, good player whose links are exaggerated because they’ve declared their desire to play for us. Its a pretty simple link to understand.

If you’re solely talking about Diomande why mention Lyon? You know Diomande doesn’t play for them right? Are you confusing yourself now?

Why do you jump out of bed ready to start a new argument? I like Diomande as a player, I was talking about Diomande as a player. You were talking about Fofana and somehow got it mixed up. You were talking about Lyon and you forgot to mention that they have been in excellent form of late and there is not a single player they have bought that is performing under expectations there. I’m downplaying the Diomande rumour by using Forfana last year as an example. I think you missed the connection and that your paragpgh structure was misleading as to who you were talking about.

Don’t start a paragraph with “he” if the previous one has no connection, its easy to assume the “he” is connected and thus the wrong one.

Mate you are the one carrying this nonsensical conversation… first of Fofana was sold 3 seasons ago for 17 million, very different player to Diomande who costs upwards of 80 million.

There is no comparison between the two except they are forwards.
