asian, I can make the point I wanna make… I think there is a big difference between that window and now, that window had a clear agenda, replace the aging midfield. Fabinho leaving as well was a bit surprising, the decision by Klopp to replace the whole midfield was surprising. This window we messed with our goalkeepers, our defenders and our whole frontline except one player. We had a clear boss who made the calls in Klopp back then, right now nobody knows who is taking the decision but it certainly is not Slot. That´s why I don´t think the approach has worked, we signed great players but there is no balance to the squad anymore. I already answered you about Frimpong, no need to go over that again. Like for example I don´t think Slot wanted to lose Diaz but the decision is out of his hands, it was Edwards or Hughes who sold him for good value but its the wrong football decision. It was not a decision made based on football, it was a decision made for money. BTW there is no point in comparing Elliott and Bradley, one has delivered plenty for us in the past until he was frozen out by Slot. The thing I don´t like about Slot is he is not capable of protecting his players, he can´t even keep the players he wants at the club! I have failed to see him standing up for one single player since his tenure started and he has had plenty opportunities. This rebuild though is not done by a mile though, Salah will probably be sold in the January window, we need players at the back but we will probably just get a new winger. Hopefully a new centerback… I don´t think we will get a new manager this season, I think the club has their targets set already, for example Nagelsmann after the world cup, I don´t think Slot will get a new contract. Last season success will be his only success at the club as Edwards and Hughes wanna do a total rebuild of the squad. We know Robbo will not get another contract and Gomez will leave next summer after being frozen out, I doubt the club wanna risk another long term injury to him before getting him off the books, Elliott and Tsimikas will be sold permanently in the summer, Konate will also go as the club will refuse to match his salary. No more Salah 100% in the summertime as well! Then we have another potential problem and that is the form of our captain, who could also be forced out next year. I think Slot will leave if Nagelsmann becomes available after the world but the demolition job could be continued for another 6 months. First when I read that Slot was our new manager I was underwhelmed but I soon realised he was the perfect fit for us after Klopp left but I don´t see him handling the squad, or getting his way. I think there is reason as to why the club did not offer him a new contract right after the league win.

9th December 2025 at 1:33 pm #233075Ginger, Salah obviously misses the service he used to get from Trent, tactic wise Salah had 1000 more touches on the ball at this point in the season compared to last season but it´s not just the service from Trent, Diaz used to create so much every game. Robbo and Tsimikas backed him up as well, Diaz had a understanding with the backline and everyone on the pitch. Some say he wanted to leave but he only wanted a fair contract and got that contract somewhere else. I don´t think Slot gets his way, I just think he has to deal with the consequences of Edwards and Hughes, who are not thinking about squad building but getting the right player. In our last game there was nobody occupying the space Salah sits in for the majority of the game, Szoboszlai was not going there except on rare occasions, Bradley was the only one on the right flank giving us width but he still has defensive duties. BTW I don´t think Salah is right to make a outburst like that, I kinda think he sealed his own fate with that but here we have a club legend that has never made a outburst, never done anything unprofessional ever at the club. Is the first guy to show up to training every day, has peak fitness levels and literally keeps himself fit enough to play every game of the season without complaint. The dressing room is in ruins right now, it has not been so bad since Hicks&Gillette. The lads are questioning the decision made, they are not happy with the results or management at this point! Someone could say that Salah did something unprofessional when he was teasing us with the negotiations but he wanted to sign a new contract, he wanted to finish his career at the club and he willing to put that down on the line because he is that unhappy! We are in bad shape and I think both Salah and Slot have sealed their fate! Arne Slot will have a lot to do to win the lads over again and believe in him. I don´t see it happening… There is one thing making your authority clear by getting rid of someone like Sakho, who was a bit of a troublemaker and getting rid of one of the most professional players I´ve seen at the club. Its a ego thing!!!

11th December 2025 at 5:56 am #233369From the respected ITK Carra:
Hello all,
Certainly the strangest times since Brendan leaving.
The talks continue with other coaches, Slot is aware and happy to fulfill his commitment as Head Coach.
Cesc was spoken to, I believe there is little chance of that going ahead. A very data driven conversion.
Truth be known, it’s Alonso.
If not then Gerrard may step in, conversations have been good.
Will stick my neck on the line though.
Xabi is the next LFC manager with no interim.
Ta.

11th December 2025 at 8:08 am #233392Apparently there’s a core of first teamers that have expressed dismay at his training policies and therefore are not performing as they should. Alonso is making them work hard, to press, to work on fitness and the fragile little darlings at Madrid don’t like it and get the hump.
Judge him at Leverkusen and his team were superb, almost made it through the entire season unbeaten until that final against Atalanta. That’s played 53 lost 1, and played good football.

11th December 2025 at 10:43 am #233409Yeh as they said on motd last night Alonso is a coaching manager which is ill suited to Madrid where you need more of a galvaniser like Ancelotti or Zidane. Thought it was the wrong move for him from day one.

2nd January 2026 at 12:08 pm #235229Would love to see Alonso. But I don’t personally think we can wait until the end of the season. Will always love Slot for winning the title but I can’t stand watching my beloved reds play anymore.

2nd January 2026 at 2:11 pm #235244Realistically, this kind of change would have to take shape this Summer with everything done properly, Top To Toe; coaching staff especially!!!
Factors in timing, planning and availability of candidates, plus terms and all the rest of it.
As far a Caretaker or Interim goes, that’s a bit of a tricky one; who would we get in? It would have to be a real bad run of results to force the hand and be out of all winnable trophy comps.

2nd January 2026 at 2:37 pm #235248I would not touch Maresca with a ugly stick right now, I think we are stuck with Slot for the rest of the season or until the World Cup finishes. My top candidates for the position remain the same, Tuchel and Nagelsmann. Klopp is very likely to go into international football after the world cup, that could set a big merry go around in action. Tuchel has proven himself again and again on the top level and Nagelsmann could prove to be a very good fit for us. A lot of his football follows what Klopp was doing. We could suggest a few caretakers, Stevie G could come in to handle affairs until the summer if asked but I don´t see any permanent manager coming in until after the summer. Would we even want Lijnders?

2nd January 2026 at 3:38 pm #235249Ed De Goey, in a light-hearted way, thanks for the laughs lol 😀 😀
On a slightly more serious note, it’s a pertinent point on the coaching/backroom staff and the ‘right-hand-man’ that follows the Manager or Head Coach.
So when Pep leaves this summer, where will it leave Pep Ljinders? I liked him and he was a solid fit. Remember also Zeljko Buvač? He’s currently managing the Bosnian national team.
Think about this though on the subject of Pertinent: It’s the Whole Package that affects us Coaching and implementing our Philosophy, plus all the Bread and Butter mechanics.
How did we Deliver in the first place the Gegenpress and Heavy Metal? Something had to be underpinned with invested knowledge, technical knowhow and hard graft. Where did it originate from and how was it harnessed into our players and thereafter on the pitch?
So it’s not a quick fix and any Tom-Dick-Harry that can fill the shoes. Too much frequent change upsets the Applecart as we’ve seen with Man United. We certainly don’t want to end up down this road……

3rd January 2026 at 10:47 am #235302It’s a shift in style which MacAttack pretty much covers. Included in that will be the training methods and it seems fitness is something we skip currently.
Klopp with his high intensity style tapped into the Anfield crowd, the intensity and the crowd passion lifted each other. With Slot the crowd seem asleep most of the time.
Would like to point out that Klopp was also changing his style to a less intense one and whilsy we weren’t anything like his title winning team. I don’t think he’d ever go this slow and ponderous, but I think he realised the full on heavy metal style wasn’t sustainable and needed refining, even at the cost of excitement for us.

3rd January 2026 at 11:33 am #235306Yes Mac Attack is 100%
We’ve lost this. Klopp before leaving laid a squad on a plate. This has in majority from circumstance been taken apart. We can’t deny certain acquisition all across the football pitch is missed. Trent Alexander Arnold Especially. Even Darwin Nunez coming off the bench!!!

5th January 2026 at 6:27 am #235646The ITK who I rate as the most reliable has again reiterated that Slot will be gone as soon as a replacement becomes available. He has already been told this. Furthermore the unrest in the dressing room is increasing with a number of senior players not buying into Slot’s tactical vision.
I still think we are waiting for Alonso to leave Madrid. I did an AI comparison between his time at Leverkusen and now at Madrid, was interesting, main difference was the superstars at Madrid influenced his tactics more than his philosophy whilst at Leverkusen. I’d hope we’d get the Leverkusen version!
Other names I’ve heard, maybe Moonster has too or others.
Fabergas is doing well at Como with the next big Argentine (and Real Madrid) star Nico Paz ripping up seria A.
Hoeneß (will be funny seeing you English struggle with the ß!) I believe is also being looked at. Rob would like him, plays 4231 with the 2 sitting as a proper double pivot. Less intense than Klopp but would bring more of that german gegenpress back. But no big club experience.
Iraolo talk has died down, probably due to having a pretty mundane season, although he did get almost his entire backing ripped out in the summer. I thought he was a shoe in due to his links with Hughes.
Speaking of Hughes, there’s a few murmurings that his position is under scrutiny, maybe even his boss Edwards too? Again maybe Moonster has heard more?
