It would have been a great forum but if you say oasis then it’s no use even debating. Not even the top 100.

When we had Big bands, Orchestras, that was music. For me , the most exciting is a really good Big band in full swing mode. I mean a BIG Band not these smaller versions. They pack 4/5 in trumpet. 4 Trombones 5 sax/clarinet plus a top drummer , Piano , vibes and bass player

Better still have you have full orchestral support as well!!!!

Rover, you’re welcome to bring forward your own taste as the guys have done on here so far. That’s the beauty, the diversity.

I just threw Noel into the hat.

I would say ultimately, it’s what those lyrics mean to you individually and how powerful and compelling they are in the way they are harnessed into the melody of the song and the message it conveys.

Liam himself has wrote some quality tunes without his brother.

I liked Brett from Suede – great songs from the early to the mid 1990s.

Seen Billy a couple of times, does what he says on the tin, and saw the lovely Belinda once during her “solo” years, and that’s 1 evening of my life I’m never getting back (her “performances” in my shower are much, much better!)… never saw the Go’Go’s though…

Sometimes you have to understand how music is constructed to appreciate it fully

Was it here or somewhere else that I recently told my half story? (not really but ya) If so, sorry about that.

Basically, as a teenager, I’d go from school into my dads repair shop (Cork, Ireland). I was learning to do repairs on car stereos and such. Another service that he provided was video tape copying and conversion.

One day this older gentleman comes in and he was handing in or collecting a video and my dad was talking like he knew the man. I think he introduced me or something and says this man is a famous musician, Donovan.

Over the years, this memory sat there undisturbed until I was playing something on spotify and Donovan came on. I thought to myself that such a small exchange, must have meant that I’d mistaken some local musician etc. I googled Donovan, seeing that he’s Scottish and thought “ahhh”. Then I saw that his parents were both irish and he lives/lived here.

So I masked him and no, it was actually Donovan. He went on to say that he didnt just come in the once, that he’d get tapes copied every now and then. Said that sometimes he would have what my dad thought was an assistant coming in for him. Said he was a pleasant, super normal guy.
