On the subject of overrated players, and on the back of a strong rumour of a £50mil bid from Utd, is Declan Rice all that? I admit I haven’t seen much of him but when I have, I haven’t understood the fuss. Anyone care to tell me what it is I’m missing?!

Mav/Mak/Ed – I wouldn’t expect everyone to agree with my thoughts on Allison, and he is certainly a good keeper, but in the top 3 or 4 in the world? Really? Mind you, I feel there is a shortage of really top keepers about at the moment, both in the Prem and to the best of my knowledge abroad as well. De Gea is obviously the best in the Prem, and Ederson appears to be a good keeper also (but behind Allison in the Brazil team) but beyond that there is no-one outstanding around. Kepa, Leno are okay, I guess. Lloris is past his peak, Pickford has rushes of blood, Dubravka at Newcastle started well but has made quite a few errors recently, Heaton and Pope are very able but not world class. I just think people are grateful that Allison is not Mignolet!! Neuer and Courtois are past their best, and Oblak, I’m afraid I’ve never really seen play, so maybe after all that Allison is in the top 4 or 5 in the world!!But my point is that he is not a brilliant keeper!

Ed – as for Rice, I think he will probably become a fine player, but your £50m is only buying potential at this stage. He appears to have game intelligence, is versatile and should only get better, but he’s young and a move too early to a big club (can we still call United a big club?!) could derail him, but I think not. He seems level headed and I think would be a good buy for you lot.

Is it possible that De Gea and past Neuer have set the bar very high? I think we’ve got to see more of Allison to know his true level but he kinda has a problem there. He’s not tested very often. This can be a big problem for keepers, in that they are less alert, or even physiologically warmed up. The thing for us there though is we have a smaller sample of play with in which to judge him.
Although I do rate him, I accept your points also. I am grateful that he’s better than Mignolet but I kinda rated Migs. It’s Karius that I didn’t rate. Sometimes you have to trust your own instincts and I remember being turned around by the lads going on on TT before, along with Karius not conceding for a good while. It was of course a case of the defence shielding him and him making very few decent saves at all and when finally tested, he was actually awful.
My instincts on Alisson are good. I won’t try and skate around it by adding clauses.

Courtouis past his best? Still young for a goalie I would have thought?? Ter Stegen od Barca and Donnarumma of AC Milan are world class too,Lloris is defo past his best!
27-We have to give players like Keita,Jorginho,and Fred a bit more time to settle in the PL.
Much rather pay for D.Rice than £50m for E.Dier-another extremely overrated player,imho!!!_____________________________

Cech was rarely tested but was a great Keeper. All Keepers make mistakes especially the Latin ones. Allison is having a good season imo but he’s still not better than Kante. 🙂

I do remember the talk of Keita already being better than Kante alright. I believe it was Songman who was jumping the gun. He can over-state things in his enthusiasm a bit, nothing too bad though. Funny when he was saying every game was a must win, at the start of the season. That really created content haha

Good shout on Dier, Mav. .THE most overrated player in the Prem, without question. Seems lazy and just not very good at anything!
Mak – don’t get me wrong. I like Alison but I just don’t see the world-beating keeper that many other Reds fans see which is why I define him as overrated, rather than a shit keeper.
