Chucky , MB has pace, can control the ball first time, scores goals and if given a chance I think he is a step up from Fernando who struggles with the speed the ball arrives to him . He has missed good chances when the ball arrived with pace, his control and reactions let him down. He missed 2 or 3 last night which I reckon were down to either his rustiness or his reactions. The goal he scored ( Legend) was from a Danny Rose cross and he had time to get up and place a header past the keeper, if we played like that all the time and he got a run he may surprise me, but we don’t play that way.
To me that was a missed chance to loan in a half decent striker.
I also don’t agree with the lack of transfers( in ) at Spurs, come the summer it will be 18 months since we got a deal done. Add to that letting The Moose go before the end of the season is plain stupid, he wouldn’t be able to play every game but we are going to miss him big time.Surely when a player of his class is looking at moving on you get a replacement , oh no we’re Spurs.31st January 2019 at 3:00 pm #32603
Mak, this is why I adopted a more disciplined mindset when it comes to Title Talk for those exact reasons you’ve stated.
Very easy to get sucked in then spat straight back out when a result is not a win.
It’s disrespectful too to the opposition fans and it borders on arrogance. We then gain a bad reputation.31st January 2019 at 3:14 pm #32604
Spot on, Mak, though I’d put it at 55-45! We’d get stick if we were crowing that we have it all sewn up, and we’re now getting stick for honestly saying that it is still too close to call. When you can have a swing in points between City and Liverpool that there has been in the last 2 months, anyone has to admit, even 9, it can happen again. 5 points is nothing, but I would rather be in our position than City’s…obviously!!
I can honestly say I have never been as cold at a football match as I was last night, and the conditions definbitely didn’t favour our way of playing. But it’s the same for both sides, so no real complaints there. The result is not a disaster, but I think our disappointment is only because we see it as an opportunity missed. If we had battered Leicester and gone 7 points clear it would have sent a message to City, and I think unconsciously or not, they may have decided to concentrate on the Champions League at the expense of their league form. It didn’t happen, but with their next 3 league games being Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea, I’m hopeful they may drop a few points in the next week or two. My worry for us is that for the first time this season we look beatable now, so it wasn’t so much the result last night, but the way we played that disappointed me.31st January 2019 at 3:16 pm #32605
Nil – don’t mean to start anything up again, mate, but ‘disrespectful’ was your anti-Leicester rant last night, not title talk31st January 2019 at 3:25 pm #32606
27-You could have just given us the short version:without Hazard creating week in,week out,Chelsea struggle big-time to create anything, the team depends on him way too much and the rest are not good enough/too old,right?31st January 2019 at 3:25 pm #32607

ATBA… furry muff, can’t say I’ve seen enough of him to really have an opinion on how good or bad he is, just going on the basis that he doesn’t seem to be able to hold down a regular starting spot (or even squad spot lately) at various clubs arguably smaller than our beloved Spuds.
As for Fernando, I think it’s rustiness more than anything else. Would agree we’re perhaps not playing to his strengths, but I think he deserves his chance, he’s been patient enough for sure. I have a feeling in my Finnish Firewater he’ll be on the score sheet again Saturday!31st January 2019 at 4:29 pm #32608
Mav, close!😊31st January 2019 at 4:37 pm #32609
Chucky, at the end of the day WTF do I know about football , I hope it is a lack of game time for Fernando and I would be quite willing to receive the rough end of a pineapple if he scores the winner on Saturday.
Just Spurs luck, Newcastle doing some good business today.
Just in Barry Fry Peterborough Director of football has been suspended from all football and football-related activity for four months after he placed a bet on Peterborough to be promoted:
Met him a few times when he was at Barnet, nice bloke I thought.31st January 2019 at 4:51 pm #32610
Hightown, your usual objective views which are always worth reading.
I’ve always thought that City would win it and Liverpool would finish 2nd but I’m favouring Liverpool now.
When City faltered the impetus went to Liverpool but it opened up again with City’s win over Liverpool.
City were really poor v Newcastle and had Liverpool won last night and stretched the lead to 7 points like you I think it would have been a big psychological blow to City which would have been difficult for them to come back from it didn’t happen and that will have given City a bit of a boost but everyone would have expected wins for both City and Liverpool this week which would have left Liverpool 4 points clear when in fact given the results they are now 5 points clear. So better than expected despite the disappointment of the draw.
Currently I think Liverpool are favourites and as you say you would rather be in Liverpool’s position than City’s.
Liverpool looked very nervous last night if they can hold their nerve and don’t let City get too close to them I think they will win it but 5 points does leave the door ajar. Cheers 99931st January 2019 at 5:07 pm #32612

Hightown, yecthats it mate. No problem with the result but we looked very shakey at the back. That does concern me
Also the subs we brought in are not good enough and shows the lack of depth in the squad31st January 2019 at 5:08 pm #32613
Hey,I thought City will win with 10 games to go,lol.31st January 2019 at 5:09 pm #32615

City game is off againest everton as they are in the cl
Fully expect them to beat aresnal who are terrible.
I thought Chelsea might give them a game but they look a bit vulnerable now
Me really need to just concentrate on our own games now.31st January 2019 at 6:26 pm #32616
Nil, absolutely mate just remember everyone would swap places with Liverpool currently and everyone will have an opinion on the title race some you’ll like some you won’t.
I remember in January 2015 when Chelsea were neck and neck with City for the title a 5-3 thumping at Spurs and everybody wrote Chelsea off but ultimately Chelsea won it by an 8 point margin.
Liverpool will imo win it providing they hold their nerve and don’t let City get too close.
My experience of winning the PL title is that you only enjoy a title win when it’s all over. Best of luck. Cheers 99931st January 2019 at 6:39 pm #32617
Sean, the City-Everton game has been re-arranged for next week. So they have the opportunity to close the gap, albeit having played a game more31st January 2019 at 6:41 pm #32618
Sean, I don’t think you can predict any game at the moment. Most of the top 6 teams are stuttering in their own way for a variety of reasons.
