He wouldn’t be playing as DM on his own.
It would be with another player.
We don’t play with and out and out DM anyway.

It’s where hes played for the vast majority of his Prem career.
It where he says himself he plays his best football.
It’s more or less where he played last year for us when we won the league.
He sat deeper with a midfielder and 3 attackers (if not fullbacks also ahead of him).
He’s no Alonso but his passing is very good.
There’s a significant body of evidence there to suggest he can play there.

Only quotes I found from him state he grew up as a no 10 but he best position is a no 8 but can play any of the 3 if asked. I think at Brighton he only played the 6 after Bissouma left.

But as I said a 6 in this team, or even Klopps before, whether single or double needs pace because they need to cover so much. And he ain’t got it. I just took his top speed from last season and did some AI tomfoolery to calculate an estimate for a 100m time and it works out as about 14secs. I was faster when I was 12!

But yeah he can play there. Many of our players can play anywhere but I’m thinking about optimised roles.

Im not talking about playing him as a 6.
Gravenberch plays as our 6 and it isn’t even as a traditional 6.
I’m talking about him playing along with Grav.

And I agree he doesn’t have great pace and have intimated as much already.
He played as part of a double pivot at Brighton where he caught the eye.
Alonso never had great pace and was less physical than MacA. He played in a 2.
We won the league with him playing deeper where he played his best football of his career in the Prem.

Again, there’s a significant body of evidence that suggest he plays his best football deeper.

Threeps “He’s not got the best passing range”.. we are watching a different player… his passing is way better than szobo, gravnberch, Curtis and endo… havent seen enough of wirtz yet, so wont put him in That bracket!

Mcclad “what if” moment.. yeah weve had those what if moments.. what if peak rachel welch, jane fonda, christie brinkley, tanya roberts, pammy anderson, halle berry, megan fox, kate beckinsale were all as good as messi, ronaldinho and ronaldo… and playing for liverpool… would the game be just THAT much more beautiful???

Or what if we could take the team of 2020 go back in time.. and play it against the team of 1986… who would win?? Team of 2020 would wipe the floor with em i say…

Asian, previously you have slated Szoboszlai as a bad passer so yeah maybe we are watching a different game. Or maybe you didn’t understand what I wrote?

                Passing range.

He is very good at short, tempo setting, intricate passing. Probably the best we have. And to me that is a perfect skillet for a no 8 to move the team up the pitch. But he doesn’t do long pinpoint diagonals. He doesn’t drop it 40 yards over the top for a striker to run on to. His passing range is short.

Wirtz is probably our most creative player but also doesn’t have a good passing range. The best qe have is probably VvD and last season by some margin was Trent.

You can argue neither does Gravenberch and I’d agree. But Grav has athleticism to get forward and back again far better than MacAllister, and has his signature move of receiving the ball and beating the press in an instant. MacAllister does not do this, so as a DM he doesn’t offer as much as he would slightly further forward.
