Quick post about the game without becoming emotional, losing is part of competitive sport, deal with it.
First half, we were shite. Glad to go in nil nil. Midfield duo having little influence and our only likely route to a goal was a long ball over the top.
2nd half much better. Intensity was there. Midfield took control. Wirtz was being found and having an influence. Ekitike should have scored (Isak would had for sure with that massive ego head of his!). Great cross from Salah who was far from the worst on the pitch.
Then boom. One of the best free kicks I’ve seen us score for a long time. The arsenal one was good, this was better. But then like a lot of games this season we cannot control when the opposion up the tempo. That’s on Slot.
The only thing about the pen was if the ball was still in play when contact was made. Not sure if checked. If yes then deffo pen and stupid by Ali as he was never catching it. Guehi I think should had been a red, tough one, Dias may have got across or maybe not.
Once we are out of the CL I think Slot will go, or at least should. I would like the next man to have a couple of months this season to check the squad and start to change the training rather than do everything in a short preseason.

Lost 8 really looks awful. Look at the points achieved. There are Teams now above us. Lots of draws, hardly any wins from the games we played. We’re supposed to be Champions.
The Manager should do the Decent honourable thing and Resign.
Any Happy moments we live just follow with something BIG CRASHING DOWN.
Our squad has been depleted. Injuries left-right-centre. What are we going to do versus Sunderland??? Lost 8 which is the most Depressing.

Im saying mo id finished. His touch is horrendous. Hes lost that yard of pace and is not real threat anymore. Would love to be proved wrong but i think hes done and be gone in the summer. Just my opinion would love him to finish strongley and stay next year
Threeps, we cant put a solid 90 mins together. I really think we wont cl now. 6 wins in 18 and we are showing no signs at all in 6 months of any kind of consistency.
Club better make the right decision. Keep slot dont get cl end of season and alonso could go somewhere else. Big few months coming for club with big decisions needed

The focus of our attack has moved from wide right to central.
It’s not that Salah is done, the focus has moved, which I understand considering Salahs age.
He put a fantastic chance on Ekitikes head only for it to be put wide.

I sense a behind the scenes problem. Ever since the ‘tantrum’ out in public, he’s not been dropped and selected. I don’t know whether there’s an instruction/tactic laid out beforehand, but a player up top if he’s not going to receive service, then needs to put the yards in deep.
Equally, if you’re the guy providing the service, then do so. To be fair, Mo did do his bit with Ekitike. I think it’s down to communication, understanding and all singing from the same hymn sheet. One game you see it all clicking, then a game after that, it’s 3 steps back and we’re ultimately back to square one scratching our heads.

when you have two wide players that basically always cut inside there is gonna be traffic in the middle of the pitch, Salah has proven in the past that he can do it and consistently produce numbers when he has someone on the opposite flank that opens space by being more direct. It´s the opposite flank that is reducing the space he wants to play in and around. That on top of the delivery he used to get consistently from Trent.
That´s the first home defeat against City in decades, we have always been able to win or at least get the draw, I can´t fault the back line except Szoboszlai who played them on goal for their first goal but that is not his fault, he is not used to playing that role and he should not be playing that role.
IT was a clumsy and rash decision by Alison to go out, even if he had no choice other than to try to block the shot but he went a little bit too far, I think that has to do with the ref that lost control of the 2nd half. I would not have given that penalty unless I would have given Salah one in the first half.

We almost got away with controlling the game and not pressing them like crazy for the first time in years but we also lost against them for the first time at home for decades, I can´t even fault the ref as we only had 1-2 decent chances throughout the game.
The head coach is hanging by a thread, if not for the title win he would probably have lost his job before January.
We will look different with our transfer record signing but it´s a long way to go until that happens, I can see a very big window happening next summer and I am still not sure Slot will keep his job.

Ye i get the set up ginger but mo cant even control a ball now. Hes not sharp in thide half chances that he used to take. Attacks break down so many tines when it gets to him.
Just my opinion i could be wrong lets see what hapoens but i think hes gone in tye dummer

With ten left bring endo on. We are winning and have absolutely shit ourselves in anyway, sitting back. Writz couldnt run after 65 minutes. The conditioning of the players is very concerning. I think we are in tye bottom 3 for running stats.What is the point of endo? We make 2 subs a game. Its a fucking shambles

Regarding the ref I think most of the decisions were correct.
Salah tug. Just not enough for me. There was a tug but its a contact sport and not enough to give a pen. Admit only saw it live and not since .
Guehi red card. This is the contentious one. I think Salah is denied a goal scoring opportunity and thus should have been red. Is the City defender getting across? Is the angle against Salah? I think no in both cases but it’s open to personal opinion.
3rd goal and Szoboszlai red card. Got it spot on despite being proper odd. Would have preferred the 3rd goal myself!
Ali pen. Again spot on. Only issue is was it in play and apparently that was the only thing VAR looked at. As it was, 100% pen and brainfart moment.

I think I read somewhere 24 points from 20 games very similar to Hodgson.
That’s the ultimate elephant in the room which our Manager should acknowledge. We have become the new Manchester United not knowing what we will be getting from one week to the next.
It’s the same with the displays on the pitch; the 2 halves are contrast. We concede late goals and lose our heads.
Honestly, this is the worse I’ve felt for a very long time. Even Klopp’s Covid times at least rest me with a bit of Solace because he acknowledged how bad we were. Can’t say I can get excited about any football for now.
The Refereeing for me seems corrupt, and SKY commentary comes across so-biased, it’s terrible to be watching.

Hodgson had a team with the likes of Jay Spearing, that Greek fella, Poulson and Konschesky. We added Wirtz, Isak and Ekitike to an already world class squad. Not only are result bad but the play is boring too.
The worst thing is this squad is so talented with a few more additions it could go on to achieve many great things, but that needs someone else in charge of the first team.

It’s a contrast blueprint 3ps, this is the whole point. We were in very dark times of Hicks and Gillette.
Slot on the other hand walked into something entirely different. Klopp seemingly had to wrestle to be able to get in new players let alone be given a luxury of 400+ million.
I’ve never seen anything like this. Most definitely a first. It’s expect the unexpected between now and the end of the season. More despair sadly.

threeps I think you are pretty much right about the ref decisions but I felt that the ref lost the plot a bit in the 2nd half, there were so many shirt pulls and not enough of them went punished. Alison lost his head a bit but there was little else he could have done but try to block the shot, if the shot had been on target he would have caught the ball before the player and no penalty would have been awarded.
Honestly though we only had 2 good chances in the game, we didn´t really deserve anything from the game as we are officially in Hodgson territory right now. 1.56 points on average from each of our game.
How long has it been since we failed to score from open play at Anfield? 2024 against Nottinham Forrest, it was the only game we failed to score that season but I can see it becoming a trend.

Well, I learned from elsewhere y’day a new ‘acronym’ that I was completely unaware of@ D O G S O ! Denying an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity.
Y’day’s instance just weirded out. Haaland ran to make sure the ball would end up in the net as it was rolling on it’s way, but probably not as fast, so at the time, there was slight uncertainty. Dom and Erling tuggle, but Dom commits to the first shirt pulling. He started it, so he’s rightly punished, but to then state as ‘DOGSO’, Haaland got to the line anyway, and at that point the ball already crossed the line.
So a grey area in mapping a clear logic from the sequence of events. Poor Dom though ultimately. Bad Management and Tactics selecting him to be responsible for right-back in the first place. This was possibly one of the roots of our downfall.

For fear of repeating myself, this is exactly what we are going to get with Slot…some good games, some bad. The long and short of it is he’s not up to it. With the team at his disposal we should be having the odd off day here and there, no more.
Understand about injuries and we can debate the merits of our transfer business, but we all know he has managed to make a team that is less than the sum of its individual parts.
Players playing out of position (eg Szobo), poor substitutions, some players being completely frozen out( eg Chiesa), others being continually played when playing poorly (Salah, Gakpo), nonsense spoken in press conferences etc etc. Whilst Hughes may be to blame for matters behind the scenes, most of the issues listed are down to Slot.
We need to take action before we fall further behind and out of reach of the Champions League next year. I can’t believe anyone truly believes Slot if going come back from all this.

Szobo was knackered for the last 20 minutes, he made the same run after someone else just minutes before the goal and had no chance of catching up, his legs were gone. The second I saw Haaland go through on goal I knew it was either a goal or a red card.
