Because Nil he is a player that needs to get on the ball and our tactics does not make space, give him time or present options to do so. They are not set up to accomodate his skillset to its potential. Not geared for anyones skillset to be fair so at least he isnt alone!
I said it before, put any player no matter how good they are, in a crap or wrong system they will struggle.*
*apart from Maradona, he would shine even playing for Neil Warnock!

10th November 2025 at 12:59 pm #230426Dirth Harry, Jurgen wont be back as interim manager…someone else might be for a short period though.
One of the tactical rumours is that there has been a push for change, that being to 4-3-1-2 with Isak and Ekitike leading the line and that is meant to be the formation aim for after the internationals.

10th November 2025 at 1:04 pm #2304273ps, I’m just trying to make sense of it all as I hold my hands up in knowing very little about Wirtz, so just can’t figure why he was signed in the first place if he’s constantly played out of position.
Would he be better playing central behind the Strikers?

10th November 2025 at 1:14 pm #230429Nil, its something I have been on about since the summer. On paper a great window, but on the pitch awful. Players bought with no apparent idea how to play them. Look at poor Kerkez also, best attacking wing back last season now inverting into a back 3 and asked to play out from the back!
Klopp wont come back, and to be honest I’d leave his legacy intact by not bringing him back. Not sure who could be interim, but knowing who makes the decisions at Anfield I can only see it being Iraola long term.
If/when Slot is sacked.

10th November 2025 at 2:00 pm #230431Just read online re PGMOL reaching out to Liverpool officially with an Apology with the decision to rule out Van Dijk’s equalizer.

10th November 2025 at 2:03 pm #230432I think it’s all a bit distorted 3ps and something’s obviously wrong behind the scenes from a coaching and a tactical point of view. Players really look lost and stripped of any confidence and assertion.
How can we go so bad in 5 days, just peculiar on the back of those wins.

10th November 2025 at 2:53 pm #230433For the sake of balance. City were clearly very fired up for the game yesterday. It was a milestone game for Pep. We weren’t prepared for that, which was blatant obvious unfortunately.

10th November 2025 at 3:56 pm #230435I think the general actions of Van Dijk on the pitch are telling of the state of the team. Against Man Utd he felt he had to come into midfield to win the ball only for him to then be out of position in conceding a goal later. Yesterday, he felt he had to go back into CB position even though Robbo was there which as Cara pointed out meant Robbo was then too far away to try to stop the cross for their goal at left back. Itโs as though thereโs little faith in the team from Van Dijkโs point of view and heโs trying to do everything. Not a good sign.

10th November 2025 at 4:10 pm #230436No complaints about the result as the best team on the day won. However (and there’s usually a ‘however’ when we start talking about something with so much subjectivity as 90 minutes of football), both of their first 2 goals had an element of luck where the deflection off Konate’s head first would normally have resulted in Haaland’s header literally going anywhere and then a standard penalty area deflection for goal number 2 which wrong-footed the keeper. Then you consider the outrageous decision to rule out VVD’s goal and you know that it was such a poor bit of Ref/VAR consultation when both Neville and Rooney are saying it should have stood. If we’d gone into half-time at, say 1::1, then who knows what may have materialised in the second half where we dominated in terms of possession and chances. The Doku goal was their ‘oasis’ in the second half (see what I did there!). Yes, overall, we were disappointing on the day but let’s have a bit of perspective on things and consider how things could have been different with better officiating and a tad better luck. Also, I didn’t think it was a penalty either. Take it in slow motion and you see Doku’s left foot moved out unnaturally outwards to make sure that there’s contact from Mamardashvili.

10th November 2025 at 7:42 pm #230437My point Harry wasn’t that Klopp wont come back, but more that it wont be an interim position, that’ll go to someone else thats currently available. Klopp hasn’t been approached and he wont take an approach while another manager is in place, thats a fact. But, that’s not the same as saying he wont pick up the phone if the spot was open.

10th November 2025 at 8:03 pm #230439Red, I hear what you are saying but attacking wise we had Salah, Wirtz, Ekitike, Gapko, Isak, Chiesa, Rio, Szobo, Mac and Grav all at our disposal. One shot on target and that was on 76 mins.
Brutally shocking regardless of who it’s against.

10th November 2025 at 9:33 pm #230441Doors always open for Jurgen. He loves the club that much, than anybody bar Kenny, he would Return to help us in a heartbeat. This current man is clueless playing players out of positions and spending or spent Millions and Millions.

11th November 2025 at 8:21 am #230507Okay, watched the game there.city werent actually that great, the margins were that they had doku and that was the difference.
People have highlighted the issueโs already, konate receiving the ball and just passing it forward to Bradley and salah on the wing/touchline, them losing the ball or giving away possession, rinse and repeat. Thats the worst ive seen Gravenberch play in sometime, kept getting dispossessed and seemed nervous to do anything. Macalister was no better tried bringing the ball out, but to slow and getting tackled.
Defensively bradley was absolutely destroyed by doku, shades of trent vs martinelli a few seasons back. Konate has been poor for sometime, its his fault for the penalty, the first goal(felt like he ducked rather than attack the ball), vvd was solid just unlucky for the deflected goal.
Wirtz decision making is a worry not to mention his constant tippy tappy passing. A couple of times he could have made a pass to a better placed player, instead he went for glory. However, he worked hard, got players booked and was still better than mac and grav.
On to the attack. What the hell does ekitike actually bring to the game?? No strong press, presence, hold up play, was quite all game. Once gakpo came on the game changed. We were unlucky that we didnt score gakpo had a chance, VVDs disallowed goal, salah put through on a few occasions. We were on the front foot in the second half and just like previous games somehow managed to concede.
Seemed like we gave man city too much respect(similar to what arsenal did against us at anfield this season) It is what it is, man city have an aura about them at the etihad, It was always gonna be tough to get a result. We move onโฆ slot has to start getting results after the international break. We win all our games until arsenal in January, We would be in touching distance off the leadersโฆ onwards and upwards.

11th November 2025 at 8:41 am #230512@Red Herring, liked your postโฆ seemed to be sensible and calm considering the fallout after the game.
People banging on about โklopp would have done betterโ seemed to forget klopp has been on the receiving end of a 5-0, 4-0 and 4-1 battering at the Etihadโฆ It can happen! I bet those guys were probably wishing Benitez came back after those results??
A few seasons a go we were 14 points behind in January, we finished the season only a point behind(gerrards coutinho change at 2-0 up against city destroyed us that day). We have a top team of winners, our luck/performances can change at anytime i believe. Maybe a fully fit isak will be the difference/catalyst for us to win honours this year? Maybe we are missing a piece of the jigsaw and that will come in January? We will know where we are in the next few months.

11th November 2025 at 11:43 am #230558Obviously, we have to take control of games and put ourselves in positions where we don’t have to keep bemoaning our luck with decisions, deflections, late goals etc. That said, neither can you dismiss how things have gone so much against us in recent weeks and it must be mentally draining to the players on the pitch. In particular, the 2 penalty incidents (one in our box, one in the oppositions) when fouls are given outside the box, then when VAR rules that they were inside, then our one gets cancelled, but the other didn’t. Then, you consider the Wolves/Man City game last season when Foden takes the corner, Bernardo is standing in an offside position and leans into Jose Sa who has to re-set himself just as Stones’ header goes into the net. And who was the Ref? Chris Kavanagh – you couldn’t make it up! Just a bit more fairness and consistency and it may aid any revival we can muster in the coming games.

11th November 2025 at 12:19 pm #230562The away form has been similar all season.
Lack of fight/battle particularly in the first half. Regardless of the players on the pitch.
You have to earn your right to play football especially away from home.

11th November 2025 at 1:16 pm #230565Asiansensation @ 8:21, fully agree with your second para observation. This is one of citing’s about possession outcome of effectively a dead end.
Salah positioning was a little too wide and isolated. He needs bring himself more deep to link up better with Bradley and the midfielders. In all honesty even since the contract signing, his performances have dropped.
Slot needs to be bold enough to recognize and act on this to allow other players the opportunity to prove themselves; give them proper minutes on the pitch instead of bits here and there. You do have to earn your right to be selected, and I feel the Manager needs to reenforce this with his squad.
