How big is this game? A win could see us go second and edge closer to Arsenal who have a tricky trip to Sunderland on Saturday (banker 1-0 away win though).
Since getting twatted 4-1 at the Etihad two years ago (annoyed me that game but a strong indicator that Hendo and Fab had to move on) we’ve only conceded twice to them in the four matches following, drawing 2 and winning 2 including double 2-0 scorelines last season which is the first time we shut them out in the league completely since the 06/07 season).
Different City those these days to them Stephen Ireland and Darius Vassell days and expect a super tight game on Sunday.
This will be a massive test against a City team that isn’t what it was but they’re still second and have the nutjob Viking up front (not talking about Bingo either!). They’ve only lost once too since the middle of Sept btw.
Last season we won there during their odd Feb/Mar form where they lost 50% of their matches during that period including this fixture with first half goals from Szobo and Salah (Szobo really should have had two if he’d pulled the trigger from 8 yards out FFS). We won that game mainly down to our disciplined mid of Grav, Mac and the aforementioned Szobo and those three must start Sunday so here goes…
Mama, Bradley, Konate, VVD, Robbo, Grav, Mac, Szobo, Wirtz, Ekitike and Mo. Would like to see Ekitike bag one who, despite a very solid start for us, has only scored once in the league since the end of August. The only possible change here for me would be Gakpo in for Wirtz in the 11 spot but I think with the effin internationals coming up that Slot will go strong and unchanged here. If it ain’t broke etc…
As I mentioned, I think this will be a tight affair and we do have the benefit of any extra day of rest/training but we still have you know who to contend with up top. He just seems to score every game. After carefully observing the big sod at BVB I knew he’d light up this league. Haaland has played 18 games this season in all competitions and has scored in 16 of those bagging 27 goals. It’s only early November.
I think it’ll be either a slender home win or a draw but going for the latter.
Man City 1 Liverpool 1 (Haaland and Ekitike).

6th November 2025 at 3:16 pm #230065Hi rob, city dont play like they used to especially with donnaruma in goal. They go long from the keeper a good bit rather then trying to pass out like they did under ederson
They are a very good side but no were near the team from a few years ago. If we can keep foden and halland quiet it will really help us get a result. Id take a draw but we have a shape like tuesday and stay solid we can win. Same intensity
Really tough game. They have pace out wide aswell
Draw keeps the recovery going. Both recent wins were at home. Now lets perform away from home. Dont concede first and exploit their high line. All about not conceding goals as we have the firepower.,

6th November 2025 at 3:43 pm #230069City like to play football but Pepe will be wise enough and close enough to the action to realise we’ve had a problem with long balls over the top or through the middle so may try to exploit that.
However last 2 games we’ve looked much better at picking up the 2nd ball which will help with this.
From what I can tell there been no injury issues after Tuesday night.
A home game, no travel and 5 days until this game should mean we play virtually the same team.
A possibility of Gakpo coming in but after Wirtz performance Slot may want to give him the opportunity to follow that up again.Haaland obviously the big danger here.
Pep seemed to hint that Rodri may be available for this but we’ll have to see.Marma
Bradley, Konate, VVD, Robbo
Gravenberch, MacA
Salah, Szobo, Wirtz
EkitikeA draw isn’t the worst result here but would love to see the win.
We need to put the pressure on Arsenal to see if they can handle it._____________________________

7th November 2025 at 10:37 am #230079Same team as last Saturday, and hopefully the same result.
Main thing is that our midfield completely controls the game, and frustrates them,
then hit them on the break with our front three. Won’t be easy, but we can do it.One question is whether Wirtz or Gakpo starts on the left, or even Kerkez for Robbo, that’s for Slot to answer, and that’s why he’s paid the big money, either way I don’t care, as long as we win the game.

7th November 2025 at 11:20 am #230089Versus Madrid, Wirtz covered 11.37km in 90 minutes. Szoboszlai covered 10.61km in 97 minutes. We could do with Wirtz’s workrate against City.
I would keep the same team if all fit.

8th November 2025 at 10:13 am #230112Don’t really feel confident going into this I must say, in spite of our recent 2 results. We’ve not won away from home in what seems like an age. Title at the mo looks like it’s gone unless Sunderland pull off something special this evening.
I think the rest of us are battling it out and we’re still in the process of reformulating and re-tuning our team. City perhaps already there.
Need our keeper to be super solid to really stand a chance of achieving anything tomorrow.

8th November 2025 at 11:58 am #230115If City play ‘the Pep way’ I think we have a chance and it should be a high quality close game. If he goes direct we could be in trouble with Haalands pace and power through the middle.
Whilst having the CBs switched on will help but more important is the press, ensuring no one in the City team has the time to look up, spot the run and delivery it.
Hence Szoboszlai has to be in midfield and I’d play the same team as versus Madrid with Wirtz on the left.
High intensity, Co ordinated press with clearly identified triggers (as in no headless chicken press) and give them no time on the ball.

8th November 2025 at 12:28 pm #230116Donaruma has a huge amount of long balls since he came
2nd balla, midfield and keeping haaland quiet will dictate the result id say.

8th November 2025 at 1:33 pm #230133That’s the thing of course we need to be careful of 3ps. Losing our heads and not being able to contain Pep’s press. First 20-30 mins will be vital. In fact the whole of the first half.
We need to be switched on like Tuesday.

9th November 2025 at 12:06 pm #230226Robbo getting treatment so wonder is this a game for kerkes in anyway considering cities pace out wide?
We just cannot let halland run in behind us

9th November 2025 at 12:19 pm #230227That’s what I’m fearful of Sean. Haaland needs to be watched and that man would ideally be Van Dijk, but the rest of the defence need to be able to take care of their own responsibilities as well as support their teammates otherwise I see a whooping scoreline like a 4-1.

9th November 2025 at 12:19 pm #230228We lose this and Title defence ends. It would realistically be a Top 5 finish for us and Cups.
