Look, the tie is of course never technically over but 3-0 is the kind of score that i feel is ok for fans to claim as being all but. The players and staff obviously will need to be professional and focus on getting a goal in the next match to all but wrap it up.
besides the 3 goals, the truly massive thing for me is the fact that they carry no away goals into the next match , so that’s a mind game that them and their fans are just not used to.

There really is so much to talk about with this match though and we’ll forget the shitty fans cause every club has them.
There were some positive surprises on display tonight. I found myself almost memorized by Sane early on, thinking that TAA would be destroyed at some stage or another and Pep obviously thought the same because this was his number one plan of attack for huge sections of the match. TAA though, wow! He never got sold at all, he stuck with him on his skillful twists and turns. His shutting down of Sane was out of this world good, from a player that i was sweating about since the Man Utd match.
Now there is one individual who was amazing but the other surprising thing is about the teams ability to defend. Go back in this thread and you’ll see clear evidence that I was not happy about us chancing a defensive game (could you blame me?). Yet, we completely shut down City every time. Did they actually get a real chance on goal? I don’t remember a single one.
I will say that the opening 10 minutes or so had me worried as City had the ball, we were disjointed in our closing game and it was looking like we were going to end up with a bunch of tired players who were working just as hard in their pressing game, as a team that was pressing as a collective. For me, it was looking like we weren’t going to turn up.

Now, looking towards the next mach, Salah only has a week to get fit and it’s not impossible if what he went off for was only tightness in the groin. I guess this is what happens after you hit 40 goals. . But no, if it’s just a precaution, he might be fine but I wouldnt play him in the derby.
I don’t know if it was just me but I noticed Salah was really chasing to close down everything, a little too much, in the first half. That will take it’s toll. . anyway, as much as we need him always, we’ve no excuse to not beat them with what we have (good team and 3 goals).
It isn’t over but it should be. If this were any other team I would state that it absolutely was over.. but you just can’t rule out the best team in the world.

Ye mak, I wouldn’t play Salah is fit. The most pleasing thing about last night was the way we defended. We didn’t give city an inch.
Vvd is being a bit to casual at the bavk for my liking but he was so dominant in the air at set plays and goal kicks. Lovren can have games like last night. He was excellent
Nine, spot on. I was very concerned for taa but he was mom for me. Robertson had another blinder. Our midfield was immense.milner has really stepped in the last few games and Henderson played a proper captains role
No way would I write city off but a clean sheet is huge. This tie isn’t over but last night was the complete performance from us
