That issue dates back to before this season.
Some liked to blame Trent (defending wasn’t his best attribute) but it was for the same reason, Salah doesn’t do much defensive duties helping out his full back and VVD plays the other side._____________________________

14th October 2025 at 9:36 am #228232True Ginger but I feel Salah is doing even less work now, understandable given his age and acceptable last season with his output. But we also have Isak who also doesn’t do a lot with thr press or defensively from when I watched him for Newcastle and having two passengers will cause any top team issues.

14th October 2025 at 11:39 am #228233Tried to find the source there again but couldn’t, I remember reading stats about Isak and his press where he was one the best last season in the final 3rd.
Have to admit I haven’t seen much of it this season from the few mins he is played but he is just getting back to full fitness.
I believe a lot of our issues stem from the press not being up to full speed yet.
Regardless of what anyone says about Nunez he would hunt defenders down and put them under pressure.
Diaz and Jota also._____________________________

14th October 2025 at 9:02 pm #228235Anyone else getting worried that the first half of last season when we were more defensively sound was actually a transitional period for Slot and that since the turn of last year, weβve transitioned from a Klopp team to more of a Brendan Rodgers team? π¬

14th October 2025 at 9:18 pm #228236Have to sincerely agree 3ps and Ginger on the evidence that Salah from what I see is isolated and sort of in essence leaned on Trent as a link up. But really at the moment doesn’t have anybody and this is an assertion in context of his Tenure; no Mane, No Firmino.

15th October 2025 at 6:25 am #228237No Mikus not getting that vibe at all. Klopp was all over the place tactically the last couple of seasons and experienced many of the issues we are this season, like too cramped going forward and far too open once our first line in midfield is breeched.
Nil, you are discussing going forward, Ginger and myself were discussing defending. And Ginger is correct, those three he mentioned were good pressers. We have issues going forwards and backwards currently.
I feel when Szoboszlai isn’t in the middle qe miss the main catalyst for the press, the guy who basically sets everyone else off. A bit like what Hendo did, who was absolutely brilliant at it and subsequently underrated by many.

16th October 2025 at 12:46 pm #228262Agree about szobo staying in midfield and didnt he cover the right a lot last season? Salah is even doing less tracking back now.
Mikuis, since 20-21 with exception of 21-22 season we concede numerous chances every game. We looked so so solid in 19-20 keeping 8 consecutive clean sheets.
I get risk and reward with salah but he is actually a problem at the moment. He needs to starting again to justify his want of not defending
Right sided is being crucified as right full has no help. Problem is we ate not winning the ball enough to release mo on the break. When we do ,hes cutting inside not passing and blazing it over the bar. We need our Mo back. Hes never started this slowly

What I’ve been saying for a while about losing trent and having the wrong fullbacks and how Wirtz was deployed last season from the left.

19th October 2025 at 11:18 am #228339Is that left inside channell not congested with kerkes in there threeps chum?
Is the width coming from gakpo and mo? They seem to be hugging line at times.
Trent is amassive loss. Unique player who create from right full. Even our quick breaks have stopped from opposing corners. Didnt we buy writz to help us create more We just look all over the place tactically. Huge few weeks for arnie now.
Have we changed to much?usually huge squad changes never really work. Too many players brought in and it very rarely works out. If 2/3 out of 8 players really are a success your doing well

19th October 2025 at 12:56 pm #228343Sean, they start wide but that’s not much use if it’s ineffective and predicable. You want overlaps and overloads, currently just coming inside is too obviously and easy to block or defend.
The fullbacks should be bombing on the outside, that’s what these guys are good at, not being part of the build up. I’ll say again, we bought the wrong players this summer.
It’s not a question of too many new players, it’s that the basic tactics are poor for the players we have.

23rd October 2025 at 10:11 am #228827Every player is disposable, even the biggest superstars like Mo Salah, one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players.
He better get his act together or he’ll be replaced by Semenyo.

23rd October 2025 at 10:29 am #228828Btw I actually think it’s quite healthy, and even better for Liverpool, if Salah faces some real competition for the first time in his Liverpool career, be it from Isak, or a new signing.
And there’s nothing wrong with that either, because only one thing matters, and that is Liverpool winning, regardless of who plays, and the only way that’s going to happen is if Slot picks the best team every time. Which means that any player can be dropped, no matter how big they are.

20th November 2025 at 11:00 am #230784Saturday, 22 November Liverpool v Nott Forest
Wednesday, 26 November Liverpool v PSV Eindhoven
Sunday, 30 November West Ham v Liverpool
Wednesday, 3 December Liverpool v Sunderland
Saturday, 6 December Leeds v Liverpool
Tuesday, 9 December Inter Milan v Liverpool
Saturday, 13 December 2025 Liverpool v BrightonSo this is our fixture list for next few weeks.
Basically a game every few days, 3 a week.
This leaves very little time on the training pitch so I don’t see any major formation change coming up immediately. (Slot may think differently)
We do however need to up the intensity significantly to get through these successfully and many of them are very winnable. The fixtures then eases for a week or 2 but then January is a crazy month with 8 fixtures (not including FA Cup).
Just as well Slot fully trusts his entire squad and can freely call upon any of them to start. π_____________________________

24th November 2025 at 6:00 pm #231198GvB in contention for the Indonesian national side apparently.
No idea what influence he has on the current situation, however 2nds usually do a fair amount of the training pitch work.

24th November 2025 at 6:18 pm #231199Heitinga lasted just 5 months at Ajax. Lijnders lasted 7 months at Salzburg. Never tends to go well for assistant managers making the jump up. Itβs a completely different job.

24th November 2025 at 8:58 pm #231239GvB already been a manager with Rangers and Feyenoord, I think replaced Gerrard at Ibrox.
Seems like Alonso is losing the player power battle at Real and could be available.
