20th May 2026 at 11:56 am #246543Sean fully agree with your assessment of the league this year, and fitting that Arsenal with their unpleasant to the eye style should win it. But they have been the most consistent team without being spectacular so I doff my hat to them, and it’s good that City remain off the winners list for another season at least.
One good thing too, out of the tradional “big clubs”, City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and us, it is now Utd that have the longest league title barren run!

20th May 2026 at 12:06 pm #246544Yeah a few strange decisions there in the last couple of games in Scotland, the best thing that could have happened was if Hearts actually managed to win it

20th May 2026 at 11:39 pm #246588yes always nice to see a club getting a long awaited trophy, they got a excellent side, I even doubt they will let their standards slip in the Champions League as it is actually quite a hard trophy to win except when you are named Emery and are managing a side with the letter villa in it. Side that do well in this competition and take it as far as they can while competeting for a top finish in their respective league never has a dip in form the season after. ItΒ΄s experience, they know what to expect every week even though the side they face get a bit better. Rogers is starting to remind me of Gerrard in a way, I hope he stays there and keeps leading them on. I think the worst thing he could do is move to another club considering the influence he has over there.

22nd May 2026 at 1:17 pm #246751I see Trent’s grand plan of winning the Balon D’or is on track, having managed to avoid being selected for the World Cup!
I actually feel a bit sorry for him. The first half of his career was fabulous, he just started to believe the hype and act accordingly. He’ll be in his early thirties by the next WC, possible but he’ll have to make some changes if he wants to make that one.

24th May 2026 at 7:41 pm #246977That’s a wrap to one of the most underwhelming seasons that I can remember. Perhaps even more so than when Roy was in charge, given the amount spent in the summer window and that we came from winning the title.
Looking at the squad now, we’re in for a possibly even greater overhaul than last season. Hard to see next will be better than this.
GK – Alisson potentially out. Is Mama ready to take over as number 1, or do we need to spend again?
LD: Robertson out, surely Tsimikas is not enough to cover for Kerkesz who himself has not proved his worth.
RD: Underwhelming from Frimpong, Bradley too injury prone. We likely need to do something.
CD: Konate might be gone. Gomez might be gone. VvD is not getting better. We need big investments.
CDM: We have noone. Endo is not trusted and is likely out.
CM: I think we have good players here, but Slot can’t get the best out of them. MacAllister is a great player. Jones great cover. Elliott back. But seems we’re in for Wharton anyway.
Wingers: Gakpo not good enough. Salah out. Rio the only one we have – if you don’t deploy Wirtz here. We need great investments here.
ST: Ekitike and Isak. Should be enough, but where is Hugo after his injury? And we cannot count on more than 20 games per season from 140mn pound Isak. Then, we really need to get a new manager in.
Apart from results (bad), way of playing (poor and boring) – I think a manager should be judged by how much he improves his players. I have a hard time seeing anyone improved apart from Grav last season (I’ll give him that)._____________________________

24th May 2026 at 8:33 pm #246979Good assessment Macca and in full agreement. This is where we are.
This season’s been a high volume of injuries. Some individuals either sat out long-term or have been injured on multiple occasions.
The starting point has to be a Managerial Change. Forget all this ‘Head Coach’ malarky. This has to all come ultimately from our Top Bosses and whether they’re bold enough to let go of Hughes and Edwards.
The way this is all carrying on, the fans will continue to turn on Slot. We are in decline and it’s only really the standard of our league that we somehow held on to a Champions League place, plus the fact the England were awarded that extra place to begin with. It would been been Europa.

24th May 2026 at 8:47 pm #246980I canΒ΄t give him Gravy from last season, it was a necessity that he played there after we failed to get our midfield targets last season. I actually consider him to be our best midfielder overall but we need the right balance to bring out the best of him. He is still so young and he got the longest contract in the squad, I can see him growing into a leadership role at the club but he needs to become more vocal on the pitch.
The less said about Slot the better it is, I want him out tomorrow, the man simple lacks the charm to succeed here. Just look at his public goodbye speech towards Salah, it is so forced, the same goes for what he said about Robbo.
I donΒ΄t buy a word of it, he wants to put himself on the same pedestal and it shows.

25th May 2026 at 8:40 am #247005Actually took the time last night to watch Match of The Day, but didn’t get through the whole programme. Maybe it’s me, but I’m not wowed as I used to be in spite of a small cluster of teams who have and can serve up good football.
The rest generally are boring and there’s too much drama that comes with it generally speaking.
I find this season in particular quite unique in the number of leavers like the World is coming to an end.
The longest serving manager of 6 years currently is Mikel Arteta. Marco Silva I think has 4 years. There now seems to be a trend in appointing people as a Coach than a Manager. Is Arteta in 2026 the last of such Fabric to be allowed to Develop a Squad?
We’ve shifted to the Wrong Model to what our Identity should be. Where are our Young Players coming through aside Rio? It looks like we’re stuck with Slot until there’s either a shift in our Model in appointing an actual Manager or we can find the right candidate who actually wants to be in the Premier League and be able to deal with our very high expectations.

25th May 2026 at 8:50 am #247007So I didn’t realize Jordan’s return yesterday to Anfield was the first time in 3 years since he left. Wow! I didn’t even know it had been that long.
It was a bit surreal and weird at the same time with him getting an ovation. It’s like time from 2023 hadn’t stopped. I’m happy he was received well by our Supporters. This tied in nicely with Robertson and Mo.
Sad obviously coming to realization of these departures and the prospect of what our future will be without these guys.

25th May 2026 at 8:53 am #24700821 Years Today, Wow! Vladmir Smicer’s deflection and then Xabi Alonso’s follow up from his own Penalty kick; this all after an unexpected header from Steven Gerrard. 3-0 down and an unforgettable Wednesday Night π

25th May 2026 at 10:09 am #247026No….. I never had Vlad’s strike down as being deflected and have just done a Youtube freeze-frame re-run of it and still convinced that it was a clean path through to Dida. Admittedly it was close to Baros, but he did well to get his hip and then hand out of the way. However, if it had been played today, I’m sure that VAR would have been all over it like a rash for 3 minutes. That said, there’s more chance that they could have found Baros off-side than a fingernail touch on the ball.

25th May 2026 at 11:14 am #247035That is accurate to the T, Red Herring in description. Exactly how I remember it.
We’re fortunate to have got in there before VAR as many things would have been nit-picked. Baros did move out of the way. Boy that was one arrow that went underneath Dida. Lol, somehow I remember as a deflection, but definitely in Snooker terms ‘a shot to nothing’! π
