Rumours going around that Matip might be injured too! Like to add I am not endorsing the article as fact. I guess we will find out more at Klopp press conference.

Jesus, I mean we knew he’d get injured at some stage but immediately? I think we’re going to have to apply for special dispensation and bring in a CB. the thing is, it’s absolute MADNESS that this could be the case when we lose our main CB. It isn’t exactly a secret that we were playing with fire by not getting another CB in. We have been well warned that Gomez’s form hasnt been good enough and that Matip is made of glass. It isn’t often that I’m criticizing the club these days but this is on them.
Now what are they going to do about this mess? We shouldn’t be encountering something like this so early on in the season. We’re now a single injury away from a major crisis. Not good enough.
Fabinho obviously goes to CB if Matip can’t play, so what after that? I mean with Fabs no longer in midfield, we could put Milner up there and play Wijnaldum at CB but holy hell, is this a season-long solution, is it good for any longer than a few games?

Vvd won’t only be missed for his defending. He’s lethal in both boxes but his long range is unreal.

Paul Joyce is indeed incredibly reliable and in the know. We will of course miss Van Dijk for set pieces, it’s really depressing to that his 20’s are over now, in terms of his football career. I’m still not entirely convinced that Pickford is innocent in the matter. I definitely am not convinced that Richarlison is either, I mean, I am sure in my own mind that he was trying to hurt Thiago. At least we lucked out there.
I don’t remember being so angry about a match in a long time. there were positives though that I just didnt want to delve into on the day. Our build up play was absolutely sublime at times. We played with purpose, didn’t faff about, a lot of single touches only, which gives them no time to close off the space. Thiago was brilliant and I am really looking forward to seeing more from him. I think Klopp should start Jota instead of Firmino against Ajax and see how we do. I guess there’s a chance he will rest 2 of the 3 and start Jota and Minamino. Of course in that situation, Minamino will be front and centre but ya, it is nice to think about the actual quality options we have up there now.

I feel the same Mak, very angry about the game. But as you said there were a lot of positives. I thought the midfield looked great with good balance. Fab and Thiago sitting deeper and Hendo further forward with so much energy. Thiago indeed looks superb and was very lucky to escape a broken leg.
For Ajax I can see Fab dropping to CB if Matip is ruled out and Hendo taking the deeper midfield spot and Gini returning to the line up. Up front I think this is perhaps the game where Bobby is dropped for both his and the teams benefit. Not sure on playing Jota there, not sure the team has had enough time to try it, but Minimino looked comfortable there.

Fabs would probably be the ideal choice (for the time being). I think he’s 6″2.
He did well against Chelsea, has pace and reads the situations.First and foremost is that we don’t want to allow ourselves to be thrown into that pit of despair from what’s happened. I’m sure Gini and Hendo’s covering will offer the needed protection.

Ya Minamino is probably closest but I think Jota might also manage the role. TBH, maybe I’m leaning towards Minamino in preference and starting Jota instead of either Mane or Salah, if the medical team think either might benefit from not starting.
That sounds good for me regards your thoughts on midfield but in that scenario, maybe I’d start Gini in the deeper role but I won’t lose any sleep over it, just happy to have him available.
