Imagine that after all of this, the odds are still against us winning the title this season. It feels like we’ve done enough to win it, by normal standards. I guess if we don’t manage it, we’ve just got to improve further over the summer.
It’s been a great season and to still be in with a chance of winning the big 2 this late on, it’s hopefully not going to feel like a massive deflation like 2014 (if we win nothing).14th April 2019 at 11:08 pm #37661
Mak, all true mate. I just wish though that we start winning Silverware to reflect all the good progression and raising the standards since Klopp’s arrival.15th April 2019 at 5:36 pm #37681
We all do Nil. I think the fear that it won’t happen is in the backs of all our minds and the fronts of some mouths. It’s a very rational thought to have as you know how cruel this game can be. I however think Klopp will stay until he makes it happen. I’m glad that he’s aiming for the big trophies but maybe with a summer of investment, we’ll have the squad to aim for the domestic cups too and improve our chances of ending that season with a trophy.
if it doesn’t happen this season though, bar some controversial incident that rubs salt in the wound, I think I’ll be pleased with it on the whole. Whatever happens now, we’ve been a real force.15th April 2019 at 9:45 pm #37684

Mak…I think you have just described the difference between a Liverpool fan and a City one. If City were playing cardiff in your situation we would be thinking cardiff can outplay us to day, Liverpool fan will think they will loose by some controversial decision.
We have had years of pain and well versed in a cautionery mood despite our attacking talent. Liverpool have had years of success and the expectancy has to be higher. Forget the opposition, lets just enjoy the run in, no game will be easy for any team, Cardiff could well be down by the time you play them, not sure if they have a mid week game but I am sure they will give it a go.16th April 2019 at 7:54 am #37688

Mak – I think we have to be pleased with the season whatever happens in the next month. How can we not be? We’re going to end up with a record points total for us, it looks like we are going to be Champions League semi-finalists at least, we have sorted out our defence, we have a young team, we have 3 or 4 world class players in the team and the prospect of one or two more becoming world class over the next year or two, it seems that for the first time in a while we are not really in too much danger of losing any players we don’t want to lose over the summer, we’re playing great football by and large, and above all, we’re still right in the mix with 4 games to go. I still believe IF we win our last 4 games we will win the league. Of course, it will be massively disappointing if we miss out, but what a season!!16th April 2019 at 9:06 am #37692
” If City were playing cardiff in your situation we would be thinking cardiff can outplay us to day, Liverpool fan will think they will loose by some controversial decision.”
When I spoke about some controversial incident that rubs salt in the wound, I was thinking about the Gerrard slip incident. When you can miss out on the title and be reminded of it by one thing that is then sang about for years by opposition fans… We lost the CL final last season with Karius’s crap (which was a million times worse than a simple loss of footing). My point is, if we don’t win it, let’s hope the wound is clean!
I wasn’t thinking about a controversial decision, so my point is that our mindset is not that we’re thinking about what ref decision might cost us our points. When did we last blame an official for a loss of points? I honestly don’t remember.. however I am very forgetful so maybe the Everton game? 😛
Anyway, as for these years of success, I haven’t seen a single league title as a Liverpool fan (proper fan since 92/93-ish). I was born in Canada, moved to Ireland in 89 but didn’t get into football for a few years, so… I kinda missed out. So, from my perspective, you lads have had more success in the league than us (first hand). It’s been such a long time for the others who watched our last league win too. We’ve huffed and puffed a lot over those years, winning quite a few other cups , all the time thinking of this one. Of course, had we not won the CL and appeared in 2 other finals, ya, we’d also be dreaming of that… You covet what you don’t have and all that good jazz.
A genuine title challenge doesn’t come along too often for us though, so ya, we’re a bit much about it at times but if you’ll let us have this one we’ll shut up for a decade 😉16th April 2019 at 9:16 am #37693
HH, as long as the lads feel they are going forward it’s all good. The worry is that the nearer the miss, sometimes the harder the drop off after. Luckily for us I think the comparisons to 2014 are thinner than they first appear, as we have definitely developed towards this point. It is not a random uptick, or an anomaly or any kind. As a supporter I couldn’t be happier with not only where we are in terms of a title challenge/CL etc but the owners, the upgraded stadium, Klopp, or even having someone as competent as Edwards negotiating deals, with the players all on long term contracts etc.. ya. It’s a dream scenario really. Is it any wonder we’re challenging?
If the weather in Liverpool was nice, we’d never have anyone wanting to leave! 😛16th April 2019 at 11:59 am #37705
This feels different to 2014. Then I felt like we didn’t belong at the top as a title challenger, that we were just experiencing a freakish season (with a freakish goalscoring Suarez it must be said!), and we would return to being also rans the next season. This year we deserve to be this close, we are a much better balanced team with a fantastic manager. No matter what happens in the next few weeks we as LFC supporters can be very proud of the teams performances this season that rightly puts us back amongst today’s very best.
Still bloody hope we win it mind…16th April 2019 at 12:29 pm #37709
Good points being made here lads, I agree with a lot of it. Regardless of how this season ends, we can definitely be proud of the fight the lads have shown this season, it’s been above my expectations that’s for sure & I certainly didn’t expect us to be still right in it with only 4 games to go. Whilst we are heading the right way we always seem to be saying next season, next season we will strengthen the D, next season we will be more balanced, next season we will add more depth etc etc, there’s always a reason we haven’t won the holy grail. I know no one has a right to win it but it’s been the best part of 3 decades of reasons & at the moment we are against the most expensively assembled squad in history so for me it’d be a minor miracle if we outlast them. What Sean said is ringing in my ears, which is as soon as it’s out of our hands it’s over, c$ty won’t let us back in it. I do hope he’s wrong but gut feeling is he’s right.
We do belong up the top end though, great manager, balanced squad & can really turn it on at times, just that massive monkey on the back of winning the holy grail again, or the C/L would be an awesome alternative.18th April 2019 at 10:16 am #37991
New Kit Launch folks 😀 This one is simply delicious and takes me back to the 80s, haha 🙂21st April 2019 at 11:33 am #38364
Did anybody else know our fixture with Newcastle has been switched from Sunday afternoon to Saturday Night, 19:45?
Can’t believe it! That’s straight away we meet Barca away on a Wednesday. The flying back, rest, retraining and prep leaves us a bit stretched.
I spose, the upside is that we get a bit of extra time for our return leg at Anfield on a Tuesday…..17th May 2019 at 8:39 pm #41106
REFLECTION ON THE DOMESTIC SEASON
Sean, Mak, Oz, 3ps, HH, and all LFC Faithful, this was out a day or so ago. Just A Wonderful Journey Above All.
Most Nervy Battle:
Most Enjoyable as far as Live TV Matches:
The Friday Games Were Truly The Best – Cherish.
Klopp Punched Fists Lol 😀 After Huddersfield
Klopp Running Over To Allison. I felt then this was something Real For Us in terms of Finally Nailing Down Our 19th.
‘Reveal – The Out In The Open’:
I genuinely made an Aspiration for The League Championship after winning Away at Spurs at the time of my Birthday – obviously kept that to myself.
I felt with conviction for the first time for a very long time, we gave it our all. 97 Points: 30-7-Lost Only 1. That will never be matched as Runners Up, and an Incredible shame we didn’t finally end our 29 year wait.

Aye, we had a great season that honestly had enough moments to make it worthy of a title win. We had all elements right, including the winning ugly or pinch of luck in some matches. We also had the luck against us in terms of whether the ball was or wasn’t over the line. The calls were correct in every case but it was such a narrow margin each time… So the luck wasn’t only in our favour. Not that I’m asking for it to be or anything.
On the other page, they wanted to talk about where we lost the title. I’ve no intention of humouring such nonsense. You don’t “lose” anything, if you’re talking about one loss all season. Unless that is of course what you’re talking about. The title was won by someone else.
In 2014 there was a sense that we didn’t belong alright. In last seasons CL, maybe the same feeling but this time around, we know we belong where we are. You could see that in our we closed so many games out. If we needed a goal, the sense that we would get it was strong.
I honestly won’t mind about missing out of the PL, if we can win the CL. You want to talk about moving forward, we’ve got to show that we are.18th May 2019 at 10:00 am #41111

I’m fairly relaxed lads.ive stayed away from all cl chatter so far. Two weeks to go and build up will start soon
I’m not even thinking about losing. We simply can’t lose this final or it’s another huge kick in the balls for everyone associated with the club. It’s actually not worth thing about as it will be so so negative
As nine has said spurs can beat anyone on their day but we turn up and play like we can then we will win.
The pain from last year has to spur the players on. Such a touch game but I’m only thinking positive and a win for us
