Nine goals scored in our last two visits to Elland Rd winning there 6-1 a couple of years ago with goals from Salah(2), Gakpo, Nunez and a brace also from Jota (Happy Birthday fella). Two years prior we won 3-0 with goals from Salah, Fabinho and Mane. 22 goals we’ve scored against them this decade (6 games).
Leeds have been hovering around the bottom three for much of the season and have only won four times from their fifteen games played (in all comps). They’ve shown a bit of character though the last two games coming back from two down at City and beating Chelsea last night. 5 goals scored against those two teams means obviously they will add to that tally on Saturday.
Who will start? Rotation has to happen right?
Alisson, Gomez, Konate, VVD, Kerkez, Grav, Mac, Szobo, Wirtz, Ekitike and Mo is my pick in whatever formation without whatever tactics. Who knows.
We were truly shocking at times last night. For phases of the game players were wherever, like a Dads N Lads match. Never seen anything like it. Plan A doesn’t work then Slot throws a couple of buckets of petrol on it and puts everyone up front. Still can’t get over that late counter with Chiesa the last man. I get needing a goal but fuckin’ ell. What IS going on?
Leeds 3 Liverpool 2, Leeds 2 Liverpool 3, Leeds 5 Liverpool 5, Leeds 3 Liverpool 3, Leeds 4 Liverpool 5. Pick one. Pick a formation. Pick what tactics we’ll employ. Will we see a mid at right back? We will see Virgil up front again? Our double pivot at the top of the box and Chiesa last man on corners? Roll up roll up. Spin your dial! In the words of Cole Porter ‘Anything Goes.’

4th December 2025 at 3:41 pm #232256Certainly not out of the question happy. Farke will have a plan which Slot will know about yet not have his own plan to combat that.

4th December 2025 at 5:51 pm #232302I really canβt see Gomez starting again and risk seeing him limp off. Too big a risk to play 3 games in a week, after not playing for months. We need him available, so I can see jones or szobo at right back.
Iβd go with
Allison
Szobo Konate Vvd Robbo
Grav Mac
Chiesa wirtz ekitike
Isak_____________________________

5th December 2025 at 8:58 am #232372For clarity a 5=3-2 with wingbacks bombing on and the midfield sitting a bit. Lots of crosses

5th December 2025 at 9:02 am #232373Always had a soft spot for Leeds since 91/92 when they stopped United winning the Title. I wouldn’t expect this as any less than 4 goals. I think there will be more, but it will be more unfortunately for us from Leeds that us, possibly like a 4-2.
I think we’ve lost the plot now. There’s a strategy I think that’s been pushed this season away from the style Liverpool have been used to that clearly on the pitch isn’t working for us.
Hope I’m proven wrong, but even a win out of this is keeping the guy in a job of which in my opinion should no longer be in.

5th December 2025 at 9:22 am #232377Slot had mentioned before the Sunderland game that Bradley was back in training and may be fit for the Leeds game.
We’ll probably hear more today about that.
Id have preferred Gomez for this game away from home rather than at home midweek but options were limited.
It may be a case of 45/45 or 60/30 for the 2 players.Either way, I want to see our fullbacks staying wide in possession and overlapping the wide attackers rather than underlapping.
I want to see 2 midfielders holding, and choosing their times to get forward, both cant go at the same time. And id rather see them arriving into the attack than already being there when we are building out from the back.
I want to see the 9 & 10 given space and service.I want to see quicker, more direct passing rather than short, passive, sideways/backwards passing.
I want to see intensity out of possession and a coherent press.
I want to see controlled aggression.Regardless of whos on the pitch.

5th December 2025 at 9:31 am #232380Macca has been dreadful
So slow on and off the ball. Play jones.
Doesnβt matter who plays if we continue playing like this.
Give chiesa a bloody chance on the left.
Tactics are horrendous and cant see us winning this.

5th December 2025 at 10:13 am #232382Makes me think about squad depth and rotation. Some players you’d think are feeling it i.e. Macca. He needs help from others.

5th December 2025 at 10:52 am #232383Ye ginger we need to see all that but i doubt it mate.
We need to get the ball inti the box. Isak thrives on balls into tye box and we are not supplying him

5th December 2025 at 11:00 am #232384Easy team selection for me.
Wirtz has been our best player in the last two games, so he must start, but ONLY at No. 10,
as we need the aggression and goals of Gakpo on the left. I would thus drop Mac Allister to accommodate Szoboszlai. And I’d definitely start Ekitike, as he’s hungry and raring to go, as Isak is still a bit rusty and inconsistent.
BUT we really have to cut out our self-sabotage and silly mistakes. Slot must summon the team, and show them clips of their mistakes, like Van Dijk, and ask him “WTF were you doing sloppily passing that ball to no one (when you should have just hoofed it) thus undermining the whole team?”
Now let’s do it, and no reason why we cannot win it, but only if we play to our potential, with no stupid mistakes.
Alisson
Gomez KonatΓ© Van Dijk Kerkez
Gravenberch Szoboszlai
Salah Wirtz Gakpo
Ekitike-
