Mak, you even claimed it was revenge for 2014.?
1) Mourinho lost the dressing room and the media at Real Madrid there was no way back from.there particularly with the big dogs like Ramos and Ronaldo in the Real dressing room turning against him.
2) Liverpool beat Chelsea in October 2015 Mourinho survived until December 2015 and Mourinho’s last season in his second tenure at Chelsea began to unravel with the Eva Carneiro controversy at the beginning of the 2015/16 season.
3) Mourinho has been on the brink for a while at United and the poor performances, poor results and the falling out with his players pre date the Liverpool game by some considerable time.

You did Ed. personally I don’t think it would be fair to turn to SAF even on an interim basis he’s now not the right age and has considerable health problems.
I think Ole would be a great interim appointment he would galvanise both the players and the fans and you couldn’t write him out of turning it in to a permanent appointment if he had a good run between now and the end of the season.
Sky running with a Technical Director appointment not sure that will be immediately and Ole on an interim basis.

Yeah there’s no way they’d bring Conte or Simeone in after talking about the club needing to stick to its attacking principles.
999, yeah never going to happen with SAF ? but would be one hell of a lift for Utd fans everywhere. Ole with a technical director is a very sensible and risk-free appointment

Solskjaer would have his first match in charge at Cardiff – who sacked him for being crap. We’d be crazy to go for the Ole and Phelan route.
Crazy that we are even considering swapping one of the greatest managers out there for people who have already failed in the PL.
Would Solskjaer have enough respect in the changing room? I very much doubt it.

Ed, an Ole appointment would I think give United fans everywhere a big lift too don’t you think?
Or perhaps not I forgot about his tenure at Cardiff.
I guess the rest of this season is about lifting the gloom and getting the players to play together happily perhaps a bit more like the United way with anything else being a bonus.

Completely get that point of view Alfie, and it may well be a terrible choice. But I don’t think Jose could go on regardless of his obvious management ability. Reports suggest he lost 90% of the dressing room and at that point, it doesn’t matter how good a manager you are.
Ole might well have a rubbish CV but he clearly impressed as a reserve team coach previously at Utd and it might be that they feel he’ll be a steady enough appointment to get the players on board again, which in itself can be worth more than tactical ability.
Carrick seems a more obvious choice but he doesn’t seem to be in the running.

Mav, as I said Conte is a very good Coach but he has a lot of Mourinho’s traits evidenced by all the problems at the end of his tenures at both Juve and Chelsea and also being Italian he leans towards the defensive side of the game all the elements United are seemingly trying to get away from.
I suspect if Conte was at the top of United’s list they would have moved for him immediately as he’s available but we’ll see.

Ed – Jose was gone in the summer when Ed decided he knew better regarding what players we needed and then didn’t buy any. I’m surprised he lasted this long.
We have so many issues that one man can’t fix them all, so perhaps Ole would solve just as many as Blanc. I just cannot see anyone in that dressing room looking up to him. They wouldn’t respect him.
The players gave up. They are already booking their summer holidays. Some will just start now if Ole comes in.
I could be wrong. I hope I am. We need a cross between an Ole and a Keane imo. Kick the fuckers all over the training pitch and then put an arm around them and tell them how wonderful they are!
