Anyone read the article about Taylor in the papers today? The PFA apparently have £50m in it’s reserves, they paid £2m on a LS Lowry painting, paid £70000 on a private box at the Etihad and have just paid Taylor a £2.29m rise, yes, rise on his salary. Yet the Astle family who for years have been campaigning for research on the links between football and dementia have been unable to get the PFA to donate any more than £100k for their cause.

‘The list of grievances against Taylor is long:the money spent on fripperies, the money that has gone unspent, the money spent on himself and his own bloody-minded longevity that has seen him outlast 11 England managers and five prime ministers. But it is the simple moral imperative to fund research into the likelihood that his older members, many of whom poor and vulnerable, are suffering from an industrial disease is the most shocking neglect of duty as a union official’

If ever there was an example of everything that is wrong with modern football, Gordon Taylor is it.

It’s a cushy job, but would anyone in charge really shake it up?

Anyone with any moral fibre and decency surely would, Alfie, but of course that rules out Taylor!

Apparently 200-300 players want him out. Could find himself with a lot of awkward questions to answer soon.

It often seems that to head of these sorts of organisations (unions) have a job for life.

Makes you wonder when these organisations pass judgement on others as well. I have no doubt he will eventually go with a Scudamore type golden goodbye.
